Enemy Ogryns need to have louder audio

I don’t think it’s controversial to say this, but Ogryns have to be louder than what they are right now. In VT2, Chaos Warrior had very distinct sound design so you could immediately tell when one was close. DT doesn’t have that. The sounds of Ogryns gets drowned out in the crowd, and we’re talking about big enemies that should be heard from afar.

So I think just outright increasing their audio volume would really help to tell that a pack of Crushers/Bulwarks/Reapers is coming your way (and also to not have that many incidents with quiet Crushers that snook up on the player because their audio is so hard to hear in-game).

Now while we’re on the topic of ogryns

Here’s me talking about the enemy spam issue related to Ogryns.

Tagging @FatsharkQuickpaw for a chance he reads it.

Clan Eshin training is good, yes-yes

Yeah, it’s pretty bad.

I had a duo run (due to leavers) end once as suddenly silent crushers were behind us out of nowhere. Didn’t know until we both died at the same time.

Yesterday I revived someone. It was clear. Spin the camera around just in case. Aim it at where the threat was coming from and within revive time (with trinket) a crusher snuck up and splattered me.

I’ve been having the most issues with Reapers by far on the current patch. Over the last few weeks, there’s been an uncomfortable increase in the amount of times when I’ll be walking through an area and simply blink and notice most of my toughness is suddenly gone, spin around slide-spamming to check for the threat and then see my healthbar getting chunked almost instantly, still without seeing or hearing where it could be coming from, immediately making me go “ah yes, stealth Reaper”. No discernible aggro line, windup, or even firing sound effects, and the darker areas of maps don’t help trying to pinpoint where the bullet streaks are.

Yeah, vast majority of those times I’ve gotten out of it by spam sliding as usual, but there’s been a few unfortunate times where their bullets have just relentlessly pursued me into a down. At least at that point, the big guy tends to walk on over to me, at least allowing me to actually see the direction death was coming from :joy:
Either way, incredibly annoying.

At least stealth Crushers can only do their tomfoolery in melee; if you turn round and spot them before the worst happens, brilliant, stagger it and plant it out; if they down you, well at least you can immediately see where the threat is :joy:

Ah yes, the supressed heavy machinegun

I will now give my controversial take that Crushers should not be a stealth enemy.

just be grateful your game let you hear that burster and becareful what you ask for

Bursters are a massive exacerbator for this. They steal the whole room’s audio.

PBs? How about mutants?

Waahaahhhaahhhhhhhhhahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh deep breath waahaahhhhhhahhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, I loved that little interactivity.

Then I old enough to remember the last attempt to make melee elites less stealthy. Suddenly all you heard was maulers.

Yeah, if only there were less of them in higher difficulties. If only there was a way to remove the enemy spam from the game. Maybe, doing some changes to the enemies like buffing their stats like HP or speed or making changes to the behavior of one faction, to differentiate it from the other, could help in this process? One would hope…

Mutants yell but PBs suck the audio out of some rooms. Completely drowning out anything else.

This was clearly evident in the explosive event with the conga line of BPs, they broke sound for everyone. No more “buy better hardware” excuse.
