Hey FatShark! You know how people do not want to face a horde of Crushers in higher difficulties, so you buffed their HP and reduced their spawn rates?
Well, first of all they need further reduction to their spawn rates (and an unarmored/flak weakspot to make all weapons actually usable when it comes to killing them). In my opinion, you can go full on bonkers with the buffs (higher HP, stagger resistance, hit mass), make them true Chaos Warriors of DarkTide, if it means you can halve their spawn rates in the game.
But second of all, those changes to the Crusher? Please give the Bulwark and the Reaper the same treatment. I don’t think there’s anyone in the game who likes to face 8 Reapers or 15 Bulwarks in higher difficulties. Sure, the ration event that force-spawns them is fun, but let’s keep such enemy spam in the “event” section of the game (the event section that should always be active and rotate modifiers that were used in past events btw #freethemodifiers). After Havoc 40 Rotten Armor and Encroaching Garden (pink enemies) modifiers, I am not playing this Emperor’s forsaken mode until the enemy spam gets reduced by a considerable margin.
I know I may be screaming into the void here, but if there’s even a slight chance my screams of feedback will reach the ears of the Community Manager Quickpaw, I’ll take it gladly.
I’ll also add this here. A post where I talk about their audio design and it’s severe flaw: It’s too quiet.
This is not necessary. We are just in the middle of an incomplete inflationary balance cycle. All that needs to happen is to have weapons weak into carapace have their carapace ADM increased.
you might think again, cause at least in auric maelstrom my rumbler loves itself some tasty 6pack-oneshots
then again I don’t count the current havoc crapfest as “standard content” so I get rotten underwear+meth-stims with a sprinkle of self heal isn’t very motivating to play against
When I talk about Crushers with weakspot I always picture Chaos Wariors. They were very well-designed enemies in my opinion, and I am confident that a lot of balance problems centered around Crushers could be fixed, had FS just make them like Chaos Warriors.
Hovewer the weakspot would also make weapons like the Dueling Sword so much more powerfull that it’s not even funny. So I guess that increasing Heavy sword’s and Devil’s Claw’s damage to Carapace (and nerfing the Carapace piercing blessings and the Dueling Sword some more) is simply an easier option.
Or maybe do the opposite, where the no-spam gamemode is the vanilla DarkTide, while any enemy-spam games are the modified version, by stuff like events and modifiers #freethemodifiers.
This is all that needs to happen. Most people don’t see the code underneath really. All you need to do is stop having weapons that do like 0.25 mods to carapace. Heavy sword numbers can just go up.
Or smarter. They’re ogyrn - humans sent to prison (aka not-quite-yet-a-death world) worlds who have adapted to live as hunter/ gatherers for literally ten thousand plus years. They’re slow on the abstract stuff, not stupid. They perfectly understand about ambushes from around corners, attacking from all sides, using cheap shots, etc.
Why can’t we have ogyrn smart enough to sneak around behind the players then rush out to club us from behind while the players are focused on the horde in front? Or have them toss rocks at the squishies hiding the back? I don’t want to have every build welding a can opener to every single weapon - I want worry that poking my nose around a corner might just result in it getting smashed in.
