No word on the unnecessary handgun headshot damage nerf?
You mean the same chests a player buying the game 2 years from now will also get by just playing the game?
Yeah.
The more I think about the lack of retroactive droprate correction the more problems I see with it. Another big issue is that veterans are actually now at a disadvantage when it comes to getting cosmetics compared to a brand spanking new player because it’s way easier to get commendation chests when you’ve just started the game. We get 150 chests just from early-game leveling.
Please either:
- Refund everyone a Comm Chest for every hero level they currently have (minus the number of comm chests they had in their inventory when this patch hit).
- Take their combined hero level, multiply it by the Comm droprate for Red/Cosmetics and deposit the resultant items into their inventory
or - At minimum just refund the 150 starter chests we get from leveling.
@Fatshark_Hedge Any chance you can explain the reasoning behind the decision to not do this? Feeling pretty alienated right now.
@ribbot Cool so someone with 100+ hours is still way worse off than someone who started the game new today in terms of effort:reward, forever. Since our previous Comm droprate was ~0%, all we did by playing normally, from a loot perspective, was burn our easiest-obtained Comm Chests for scrap and much-needed green dust.
I absolutely agree. The new droprate is much better than before, but it seems to be around 1 cosmetic per 30-40 chests, (and some outliers because RNG). That’s still…not a lot.
What is it to get a levelup in legend with max char? 3,2 missions or something? Including downtime in keep etc, you’re talking 15-30 minutes per match, so let’s average it at 20. So a bit over an hour to get a chest. 30+ hours of effective playtime to have a reasonable shot at getting enough chests for a cosmetic to drop.
If you play 2 hours a day, that’s 15 days.
100 cosmetics in the game…that’s 1500 days.
A step forward… BUT:
- now we can have more green dust… but I hope this is just a provisional fix, cause crafting system should be changed from the base;
- some careers, like Huntsman or WHC or Battlewizard are still outperformed.
- These should have been since launch
- I have spent nearly 400h on Kerillian without a single cosmetic. I know that there are other players with the same amount or more game time, and we don’t get anything as compensation? Like is this update just here to bully me like I should have bought this game today? Feels really bad
I can’t believe I’m about to say this…
But… I agree with Avar on the issue regarding the commendation chest. It somehow feels bad that I have opened every chest to improve my gear and to be able to test different things only to see now that I should not have opened anything.
Yes i have alot of Reds. But with nearly 400 hours played I have yet to see a single cosmetic.
It just leaves a bad taste it you catch my drift?
But I do like everything else about the patchnotes. Good job Fatshark!
wait what?
Awesome!
You guys really feel you should be “compensated” for comm chests?
C’mon now. The drop rate was increased a little bit and new items were added to the “pool.”
For ME, I have no problem with this. Again, for ME, it is not an issue.
IMHO that just ain’t how things work.
Thanks FS, looking forward to playing tonight!
Edit: we all knew the content update was coming. I have about 20 legend vaults saved and about 40 or 50 comm chests saved.
I also had the realization that most of us would actually be overall better off just deleting our progress and starting from scratch. The effort required for that first 150 comm chests is minimal compared to every chest after that. Factor in that, for most of us, the vast majority of our chests were at an extremely low red droprate and a non-existant green droprate and we’re at a huge disadvantage compared to a new player in terms of cosmetics especially.
@hanzy It’s because of the above. We’re actually worse off than a brand new n00b player because they get 150 chests handed to them for leveling but our chests trickle in slowly. Essentially, everything we’ve done up until this point is meaningless from a drop perspective, unless someone was extremely, ungodly lucky
Feels bad man.
@Fatshark_Hedge can we get this man a progress nuke please?
If I have had bad luck with Reds as I have had with cosmetics I would consider a clean slate restart. But given I have almost all reds for my main Sienna I’m just gonna bite down and keep grinding… I’m used to it
But still it is a slight bad taste feeling…
Hell, if they don’t address this, I’d take one. It’s the min:max for optimal endgame ouput and I’d have enough green dust to do w/e I wanted on account of reds dropping how they always ought to have.
I can’t emphasize enough how ludicrous this is though.
@silvah Zero cosmetics here and only a couple reds I actually want with like… 20-30 duplicates/unwanteds I’d be way better off restarting from scratch, sadly.
Wait…so you would rather start ALL OVER again just for 150 comm chests? Really?
Whats it take about 100 to 150 hours to level all five heros to 30 to get those chests?
I figure you can get about 150 comm chests in 150 hours or so on a fully leveled char while also getting legend vaults at the same time I might add.
Seems it would take about the same amount of time to me!
I like ya mate I really do but I think your stance on this os a bit ridiculous. To each their own though. Try taking a few deep breaths/have a beer.
this update comes too late imo, me and buddy is almost already burned out of this game. 400h and only 1 cosmetic! and now you release 100+ its a joke should have been from release
- You aren’t gonna get 150 comm chests in 150 hours. It takes multiple full legend clears to get 1 chest at endgame vs multiple level-ups per clear at the start of the game. It doesn’t take multiple clears until very near to 30. If you’re speedrunning you could improve this but f#$k that as it’s extremely boring. Also, a new player can do the same, speedrunning Against the Grain on HM and reaching max item power quickly to ensure you always have the best drop potential. Again, boring, but the payoff is still superior. Lastly, it’s lot easier to clear while leveling. Even a solid group of vets will spend more time in a Legend run than peeps do working their way up.
- All of the green dust that was wasted on exotics because reds simply weren’t a thing at all for most of my playtime. Despite conversion, that’s a substantial amount. Even with conversion, I’ve only got ~220 rolls in me… not enough to reliably craft anything endgame oriented unless I’m rolling all reds and even then it could fall short.
- The fact that every chest I’ve ever opened is worth only a fraction of the value of the new chests from a red perspective and was functionally worthless from a cosmetic perspective.
Unless a player already has every red they want, or at least most of them, they’d be better from a time/effort:reward standpoint starting over. From the cosmetic standpoint, Everyone in endgame is better off starting over. Since cosmetics are kinda what drives a lot of endgame players, this applies to a ton of people and it’s super dumb.
Those thousands of hours some people have and hundreds of hero levels? Functionally meaningless from a loot/progression perspective in the face of the new system. Compared to the average endgame player with ~250-500 hrs, a new player has a significant advantage that can’t be adjusted for w/o retroactive loot correction ie. just like they’re doing with scrap only with the things that actually matter.
If I started from scratch, I can guarantee I’d have more cosmetics in way less time and at way less effort than someone with everything leveled. With the changes to red drops and the contract board, you’d also have a perfect red loadout in a comparable timeframe, though this is the only area where vets do have an “advantage.”
The longer someone has played, the more this patch dicks them over.
Edit: Keep in mind, i’m not saying I want to start over. Knowing that’s the best CoA though really upsets me because it’s terrible that that’s how we’re being treated.
thanks fatshark for this lovely patch am really looking forward for your new maps and maybe another class that you mite add in first dlc am glad u added skin even tho they are just reskins in another color i hope you don,t do it again but thanks you very much for keeping up with most of are bullshit have a nice day and hope you do more to still make this game great also is map editor going to be a thing i really wants to see people idea they have out their about replacing enemy etc if that,s possible i even tho you guys did not have it in the first 1 best of luck to you guys am still praying for more to come.
Sounds like a nice patch, too bad i can’t play it. Backend_err_signin_timeout. Over. And. Over. Again. I can’t login. Tried everything i could think of, and was recommended. For me, its just pure random when game works and when it doesn’t! I want to enjoy the game, and i was! Before this bullshit with anti-cheat started. I haven’t seen a single cheater before, or after, but i sure as damn couldn’t play as much after it was installed.
If you acquire all cosmetics for a given character(e.g. Kerillian), will you start getting cosmetics for another character(e.g. Sienna/Saltz) even if you’re currently on Kerillian?
I understand that this scenario might be difficult to accomplish, but I’m curious.
But, we don’t really know how much the drop rate was improved.
I wouldn’t go so far as to so all the chests that we have opened have been meaningless.
I understand your stance/point of view. I do. I just don’t personally agree with it. That’s OKAY though.
Possible I am not upset because I have been saving comm chests and vaults because I had a feeling something like this was going happen.
I feel like I would still be okay with it even if I did not saving anything however.
Also, isn’t there some sort of retroactive thing for completing certain challenges from before this update dropped?
At least thats what some of my friends are reporting.
Currently stuck at work lol!
