And no words from fatshark about this.
I donât blame them. Itâs op but not broken af. They seem to be focussing more on crashes and critical bugs anyway. Balancing has lower priority.
- Her ult is on a 40 seconds cooldown and multi kill a few stormvermin and a chaos warrior. what about the other 10 stormvermin and 4 chaos warriors running about in legend?
- you need a straight line - in close quarter cornering and with your teammates holding the front, thatâs not going to be very efficient. in the open fields, sure.
- her beam attacks smash bosses, yes. until that boss turns angery at you, charges you and suddenly you canât do anymore dps and have to rely on the other players to pull you out of the fire.
- itâs good against hordes only if they come at you in a tight bunch. plenty of times hordes engage you while your party is fighting a boss, and they are spread out all over the place.
- beam staffs are awesome against SV shields. but only 1 at a time, and it will take u several seconds to kill one. during that time, your melee classes can be killing whole packs of rats and bopping off 5-6 other unshielded SV.
- beam staffs do not one-shot stormvermin. is this a typo?
- if you never have to switch weapons as wizard - it means that your party is protecting you and escorting you, which means that you are their main means of dealing with all threats.
pyro with beam staff can be everything if you revolve your entire party play around the wizard. itâs also a lot slower. in my groups either as dorf/kruber/elf, i donât wait for my wizard to burn stuff, i push forward and clear unless thereâs threats that need to be taken care off first.
in my experience, as iâve said before, if the wizard is doing the heavy lifting, it means the group is allowing her to set the pace (which is slow)
My 2 cents as a Footknight Kruber Main, occasionally playing shade and BH, is that Sienna is mostly fine. There are some small things that need tweaking, but then that could be said for most careers. The game might be in its 1.0 state now, but its far from done on the balancing end and my guess is that to reach a balance thats mostly perfect is still gonna take a while - also partly due to ppl finding cheese builds that were never intended by the devs.
Im gonna be honest and openly admit that I havent touched Sienna once since the closed test has ended. I was planning to pick her up for the occasional game again but seeing as one of my friends mains her atm, im fine with what I got, so take everything I say from here on with a massive grain of salt.
There are only 3 real problems that I can personally see with Sienna right now. One of which will get fixed at some point - namely the infinite crit on beam staff. That leaves me with 2.

is the ridiculously small cooldown on burning head. Now, dont get me wrong. I dont mind the fact I dont have most dmg or kills at the end of the round. Im a tank mostly and I shine when my team messes up and I gotta clutch or find a way to revive em fast during a horde. However, the cooldown on that thing is way too short for what it does. Its roughly the same as the footknight charge but you can insta gib a chaos warrior or get rid of multiple specials when in a bind. You compare that to, say, the BHs ability that has pretty much twice the cooldown and you might see where I am going with this. Another issue here is that the low cooldown promotes careless spamming of the ultimate. Again, I dont mind not getting all the kills in the world but the amount of times I saw that burning head whiz past my head to kill some 5 stationary clanrats really makes me wonder if its too easy to spam sometimes. And then theres the problem of ff on higher difficulties. Down to the very irratic movement pattern of the burning skull often changing directions multiple times, I cannot tell you how often I got severely damaged or even downed by one that wasnt aimed anywhere close to me but instead at some slave rats a bit away and then ended up zooming back to me cause I was hitting a lone slave infront of me. With a longer cooldown this might be avoidable.

is the fact that its much too easy to get rid of overcharge atm. Once you reach level 20, a good Sienna will almost never have to use her melee weapon unless you messed up on positioning yourself properly or youre alone cause your team went byebye during the last boss fight. Venting needs to either happen a: slower or b: not use temp health. Either of those options would force you to occasionally whip out that sword of yours and be a bit more tactical in your choice of targets instead of just blindly spamming fireballs and fire beams at anything and everything that moves.
Other than these, I can largely agree with the ppl pointing out that every character has their strengths and weaknesses and Sienna is no exception to that. If I, as a Kruber, screw up on my movement and positioning, i can get out of that. I pay for that with less dmg potential and pretty crappy ranged choices(if you dont count the 12 shot rifle for quick special removal). For a Sienna thats pretty much a guaranteed downed state if not death. In return she can almost solo a horde if shes in a good chokepoint to make em clump up. If you run too far by yourself and got no teammates to support you, youll die like any other character(barring maybe the Ironbreaker, but thats a story for another time). Youll have a hard time against many things, not the least of which, armoured targets in high quantities, especially mixed into hordes. This is where someone like Kruber can shine with the halberd. Lets also not forget that Siennas good performance is, depending on player and team, largely dependent on good teamplay and coordination. If I dont block the chokepoint or cover the back, Sienna will get wrecked just as fast as any other character, will end up in melee and end up being unable to cast, ultimately getting overwhelmed.
I guess what I am trying to say is that at the end of the day much of your performance depends on you and you alone. If youre a good player, you know where to go, you got good reflexes, aim, know your weapons and abilities inside out, more power to you and you deserve those kills. If not, well, you just gotta get better instead of asking for too many nerfs around the board. I say this all the time and I will keep repeating myself until I hammered this into the head of the very last heretic questioning it - the beauty of vermintide is that its a game that is very easy to get into but has a massive skill ceiling, leaving more than enough space for you to keep improving. If we just nerf every character, everytime someone runs across some good players, we might aswell play as slave rats and call it a day. Thats not to say that broken stuff and cheese builds are fine. They do need to be adressed and I am sure that in due time they will be. However, unless its stupidly broken, play it, try it out for yourself and see if its truly as broken as you think or if the player using it might just be on a completely different level compared to you.
thank you! this mirrors my sentiments exactly.
Updated the op to better reflect the situation.
I love how people are going to just continue to complain until every character and every career might as well be a peasant with a stick, no one is gonna be happy until the game feels like vermintide 1 which is stupid. The game features classes for a reason, an ironbreaker isnât suppose to out dps a sienna (pyro which is literally her only viable carrier so yea lets just nerf that too) or kerillian I mean its silly. And you clearly are not playing on champion+ where sienna has to play very carefully as to not hit players walking infront of her with her ranged weapon. Yes managing her overcharge is easy now but to say her flamestorm staff (which no one uses) and her beam staff and her dagger and her ability I mean when are you gonna be happy? Do you just want the devs to remove her from the game?? Its people like you that pressured the devs into a first round of nerfs that were yes needed but were over done.
Nonsensical comparison just proves your argument is not valid.
Mages have always been the force to be reckoned with in any RPG. If you seriously think Caramon should be as powerful as Raistlin you are delusional. The price for being that powerful is their squishiness., especially on champion.
it doesnât even stagger green rats.
This is false. Sienna canât cast âNON-STOPâ. I suggest that you should look up the definition in the dictionary.
Perhaps devs should first finally fix a not working seething embers talent that works with ranged weapons only when u host a game before listening to whiners and mage haters, who want to turn a squishy ranged mage class into a squishy melee class with a stick and no talents to supports this playstyle.
Yup. Her damage output gets crippled pretty hard there.
I donât even know how to react to this, beam staff one shotting SV are you drunk? God the devs might as well just remove all the careers from the game and go back to vermintide 1 oh wait sienna did the same thing yet no one complainedâŚstrange.
thatâs ONE way to play, not THE way to play. if sienna is in front, your run is going to be pretty slow because nothing matches the front end damage of a melee stack smashing things up.
yap. which i think, is what most people are doing most of the time it seems, which gives rise to all these threads about sienna being OP
Iâm getting bored. Nerf her!
Well, Iâm having fun.I like playing glass cannons. Look up the definition of a glass cannon.
Someone nasty gets into a melee range and you miss a block or two - you are done on higher difficulties. So excuse me for specifically building my character to be a professional ranged mage who takes care of mobs at range if possible.
The ability skill is hard to use well though. The ball decides itâs own route and sometimes it doesnât kill anything at all even though you aimed it at a dude. The elfs ult is a guaranteed hit.
Coming from the identical thread this guy made on the Steam forums.
To be absolutely blunt - I find the complaints outlined here to be nothing but whiny brainfarts written by someone that is more, or should I say only, concerned about the scoreboard - namely that dedicated damage output careers outdamage him (!!!) when he is on a support career here and he thus feels the need to compete for kills and damage. Which is as far removed from what this game is about as possible and as such itâs not even funny. This isnât about making the game better, this is about me-me-me people wanting to feel special and not have their insecurities triggered.
We shouldnât turn to ad hominem attacks. If he doesnât enjoy the experience of the game then that is a legitimate claim.
Only the devs input would add anything more to this discussion. Everything has been said already.
remove the scoreboard. Problem solved. Beside the obvious bugs that need to be fixed. Never saw a community so childish who complain about everything in a game.
Yes, I am wondering if they could say something about this as the thread is large enough with a good amount of feedback. There is plenty of people annoyed with sienna atm judging this thread and the steam forums.
Really? Honestly speaking, vt2âs feedback so far is very tame and well voiced compared to many game forums out there, largely in part to proper moderation and this amazing self regulating forum software.
she is clearly stronger than the other classes with much less risk or skill involved. She can get away with to many things.
Itâs like a handhold class at this point
Good luck playing as Sienna on champion and above with " much less skill involved".
Enabled friendly fire hits the pyromancer the hardest in terms of skill requirement.
I actually finished my first legend run with sienna since my hero power was the bare minimum and I wasnât lvl 30. If you are careful with ff itâs not bad. She just makes the game less fun for the other 3 people.
I didnât say it was bad. You claimed a pyromancer class required less skill than other classes, especially melee classes. However, melee classes donât have to worry about FF and they donât have their damage output crippled (it depends on an encounter )
And melee makes it less fun for me. What are we going to do about that?
