no it wouldn’t. this community’s got a lot of people that just do not stop whining about the same problem. they’re right to ignore the community, it’s a joke.
Or … Maybe these threads calling out these issues wouldn’t even exist if Fatshark didn’t create them in the first place. Then we wouldn’t need to make threads about them. Think about that.
It’s not gonna work man. Jakal is extremely, hilariously mad at the community for not shutting up about crafting.
I mean, this. Pretty much.
Any other game I’ve cared about and played since DT has had it’s own issues, minor and major. I’ve not felt the need to make a single post on any forum. This is the only game with a mixture of silent devs, questionable practices, a (still, somehow) passionate player base and a good-to-great gameplay, surrounded by absolute tedium. By the examples below, it’s weird how much dedicated feedback, bile and memeing FS receive. I’ll keep saying it - this game’s launch, development since, marketing and mtx strategies, design decisions and surrounding communication are not and should not be accepted as the norm.
An expansion on that, if someone needs to read it:
Remnant 2 launched in a finished state with some minor (really minor) issues. Those were addressed within the first week. No need for lengthy threads, @s, quotes, 500+ players collections of feedback… Nope, the devs just posted “we see it, yep, mhmm…” and patched it. Then came the suggestions about QoL improvements (some were needed) - and again, within a month, the devs provided. In a game with no mtx and paid DLC.
Armored Core 6 - launched feature complete. Most of the discussions there formed around the PvP and some weapon balancing. With every subsequent patch the AC division of FromSoft hit… those two topics precisely, like factory work. And here’s the kicker - some people still don’t like it. There are whiners, genuine hardcore PvPers, white knights and trolls. Same as any other discussion. But there, it doesn’t matter as much even though it got much more publicity, because FromSoft engaged and communicated their intentions (and no numbers in the patches, ffs lol).
Finally, I’ll point out Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead. Devs active almost 24/7 in the Discord, writing up and clarifying. A community manager or two at all times and… one mod. Already there’s controversy surrounding console wars, DRM and performance. All handled immediately, professionally and resulting in zero need to push on forums and getting warnings on Discord.
In my mind, it’d come down to a few things
Thank you for the good examples listed here FASAStampede, this is a very valuable post.
Sheds light on the negligence this playerbase experiences since release perfectly. I can’t understand why the leadership of Fatshark proceeds with their out of touch approach when there are a heap of good examples out there how engagement with the community and heeding their feedback should be done. I usually bring up Ghost Ship Games with their game Deep Rock Galactic as the perfect example any devteam should learn from, but your examples are very valid as well. As we discussed with the user Nake on the Steam Forums, the leadership at Fatshark should either change direction to a player focused approach or give the helm to someone who actually cares about this game and its players.
Being silent and pulling stunts like this aquila debacle will just keep pushing people away if continued.
I also want to mention the Dev blogs and Vox Transmissions - they were valuable ways to engage with the community. The Dev blogs provided the very interesing devnotes, background info and hints about what features are being worked on. In addition to this, the Vox Transmissions provided some semblance of much needed progress in the story of Darktide. They are sorely missed, hopefully they will bring them back ASAP. The cutscenes added with the Karnak Twins/Orthus Offensive release were sorely needed too - actualy story bits finally. We miss more of these like a glass of water in the desert. The devs should also add an ability to view all of these cutscenes after we unclocked them in a “Your journey so far” kind of menu option (even the videos connected to reaching certain levels/ unlocking NPCs on the Mourningstar).
Fatshark should start finally listening to the playerbase and heeding the feedback we keep handing them on a silver platter. For the few moments they did, eact time the game and the community benefitted from it. The granting of the bonus aquilas XBros already got to every player would be a good step in the right direction. Now that Catfish officially acknowledged the problem and forwarded the feedback to the devteam, they just need to act upon it and score a big win with the community. Here’s hoping.
So this Thursday Fatshark rotated in a 2.900 aquila round of sets again. A Steam player can’t even get one full set of those even if he saved up all of the aquilas from an Imperial Edition purchase on launch (2.500 aquila included only).
All the while an Xbro with the same purchase on launch could not only get 4 full sets of these but still have a convenient amount left. The vast difference how the playerbase is split is clearly apparent.
This aquila situation have to be rectified properly. The problem above have been already acknowledged now - Fatshark has an easy opportunity to score a big win with the community by resolving it. Fatshark, please heed the feedback of the community and grant every player the deserved bonus aquilas you already gave the XBros.
i hope the devs finally come out and say no to you directly, it’ll be funny to watch you pretend you aren’t having a meltdown. 'cuz they’re not giving out free currency.
Well, considering they already did give out “free currency” in the form of the bonus aquilas to half the playerbase, I don’t know what is the point of your post other than a weak attempt at provocation.
This thread is here because the rest of the playerbase deserves the same bonus. Fatshark already acknowledged the feedback about this, so they only have to act upon it.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s kind of a smack in the face after beta testing their game for them…
not only an acknowledgement, but also a hyperlink to the page that took a little extra effort to make and point people to it
Responded means nothing with this company.
“I’ve passed along” feedback is aknowledgement… Not a response
Or have I missed something?
Game has pretty much been on sale since the anniversary. Look at the price of cosmetics now v launch. It reeks of desperation. Desperate for lucre. So do not expect anything other than the vanguard bundle. Deep down you know they’re going to give you/us nada.
Personally would rather them #breakthelocks than give me fs bucks. But they’ll do neither.
We shall see, I’ve personally not given up hope yet. Since many people still support this cause here and on Steam as well - the community obviously does not consider this issue resolved.
I agree with you on the locks. But I think these two things are both doable at the same time. Here’s hoping they finally heed our feedback.
I am really curious about their next infodrop about this game, let’s see what the priority will be.
Yeah, I think I will post a comment to this weekly just to remind them how scummy their practises were regarding false marketing. If ppl are from US there is a genuine case for false marketing to be made in court. Maybe we can get some proper lawyer to take it up. I mean that is false information provided to consumers.
Yeah, its corporate talk for ”Move along nothing to see here”.
Thanks for your contribution Mr. Nixon. I am also really disappointed by the plethora of absymal decisions by the higher-ups of Fatshark from before and since launch.
This aquila debacle was the worst of all of them in my opinion, because it basically left the Steam community on the side of the road. We got the short end of the stick big time.
It is just fair that Fatshark grants us (and everyone who missed out on XBOX) the same bonus aquilas. This community more than earned the same aquila injection that the other half of the community already got that on launch - we’ve put up with the disastrous state of the game for 1 year. It’s high time Fatshark rectified this issue properly.
I wouldn’t call it ‘deserved’.
I would call it ‘free and cheap PR’.
Let me take you to a world where Fatshark actually is run by humans and not whatever weird aliens appear to be in charge of decision making there.
They decide to announce their game is back and better than ever, with Xbox release, a class overhaul, and, here’s where we enter the realm of fiction, a cosmetics shop rework where everything is available at once. Oh, and everyone who had the game before a certain date - including the new Xbox players - will get 14000 Aquilas with Imperial Edition.
What happens?
Well, with the store being opened up, those 14k aren’t going to last long. People are going to return, cash in, and have fun - and they’ll have a bit of goodwill towards the company, and be predisposed to buy more cosmetics over time since everyone is using them, and Fatshark might just drop more free Aquilas if you stick around and support the game.
Boom. You’ve barely lost any actual money, you’ve gotten at least some of your launch players back, and you can move forward with content without one of the many anchors around your game’s PR.
