This whole aquila debacle could have been avoided if they simply included the other half of the playerbase on Steam. However, the way things happened have been the worst possible outcome in my opinion as it split the playerbase. Even the one you brought up as an example would have been much better, as that way Steam users wouldn’t have been left out completely. The Vanguard Pack as we all know does not amount to an “apology” as XBros could get it without problems too. I’d argue it made the problem even worse.
I think outside of the RNG itemization/crafting, the FOMO cash shop is the biggest painpoint for the community. They could have reduced the severity of that painpoint too and avoided backlash completely, if once again - they included the Steam players in this bonus.
I am hopeful that finally they will listen and do good by this community. We shall see. I am rooting for you Fatshark.

If that was the case, then in my opinion it is even worse.
i don’t wanna pretend i know it for certain, but i wouldn’t care if the bundle actually had any value to me wich it doesn’t

Hello. All I need is an XBOX player to confirm or deny that XBOX players COULD and DID get the Vanguard Pack by logging into the game using “Game Pass” on PC.

This topic is not specifically about the 14,000 Aquilas affaire, but rather about the fact that the Steam Forum thread was arbitrarily closed – a thread which, as far as I know, was still active regardless of OP’s efforts.
Anyway, I don’t understand these negative reactions. Are a couple of months enough to forgive an insult like that? Especially when there has been no attempt to correct the situation since then. Indeed, on the paid cosmetics side the situation, if possible, has even worsened…
I’m not saying we should be «Always angry!!! All the time!!!» like the Angry Marines of old, but a certain caution, especially after certain incidents, does not hurt; and since not everyone here is a veteran, it’s good to refresh our memory every now and then.

Thank you for your effort in fighting for equality between platforms.
One thing I’ve always wanted in the game was to have a way to gain the premium currency aka aquilas.
Either through weekly/monthly missions like “Defeat X Daemonhosts” (which in turn would give a purpose for those as well since there are currently no benefits in engaging them) or as an Auric level reward.
I truly believe this way would be a lot more beneficial for the game than just handing out aquilas, as it would increase player activity, as well as improve the economical system by making it more approachable to the player base, and making it less predatory.
Just a thought.

There was a user around the time of the deadline who was prolific in their posting about it as they really, really wanted the pack but was on Xbox. I got rather invested in their plight and after the pack was released I got in contact via DM to see if they had received it and they did.
(I know I did not neccessarily need to blur their profile and name, but you know)

yeah, that thing is a bit concerning
I understand that not much of xbox players did this, but… isn’t it just unfair that one side can get everything and the other only it’s half? I dont ask for compensation or apology from FS for not giving me so much money I could buy an entire store, but there’s lots of people who spend money on game via bying aquilas or just play through gamepass, giving FS almost a Warcraft subscription level of steady income (for their live-service game plan), yet only ones who play on XBox getting a free access to a cosmetics you need to buy and, to be fair, theres lots of ones that looks better than ones from Vanguard Bundle (yet I like all of its cosmetics alot.)
Im just interested why they preferred to lean on XBox community that much or why they didnt come with different solution to apologise so both sides would be happy

I think a not surreally slow way to earn aquilas (for example the way Red Dead Redemption 2 Online did) would be an acceptable solution to this matter as well.
We also listed this point several times in the original thread about this issue as well, as a potential way to solve this problem, so I completely agree on your point.
In the long run it it would be beneficial too, as it would give a good endgame as people could grind aquilas slowly and buy things they like. Definitely would go a long way in the restoration of player good will, that’s for sure.

Why? Should you also be reimbursed for everyone who bought this on Black Friday? I fail to see the difference here. This was a sale. Buy one, get something else for free. This does not mean that those who already bought it should get that retroactively. No sale works like that.
I honestly do not understand why people are upset. I just don’t agree with this particular argument.
With that said, I don’t have a horse in this race. They could give me all the Aquillas in the world. I’d still not use them.

It’s really sad. The reason I don’t play anymore is because of the crafting. It sucks all fun out of the game for me. With the missions themselves you have lightning in a bottle. They’re really really great and the atmosphere is absolutely stellar. I only have so much free time, however, and there are many good games out there. Currently DT does not make the cut. I hope it can in the future.

On nothing, friend. If you think Fatshark did well and that things are fine as they are, good for you, really. To me it was a serious disrespect to those who supported them from the early days. But that’s just my opinion.

Imagine you go to an official phone store and get selected to test a brand new phone early. (Beta tester, does not apply to everyone but most people still active on this forum were there during beta tests)
After a few tests you see the potential of the brand new phone and show some major flaws to the manufacturer. (crafting, memory leaks, clipping etc)
A few months later the phone is officially sold an you buy it (official release), thinking that the manufacturer solved the major flaws you and the other testers pointed out months ago and to your surprise the critical flaws are still there. By the time you realise the flaws are still there it’s too late, you can’t ask for a refund so you decide to keep using it and keep sending reports to the manufacturer. After 3 months the manufacturer finally decides to “fix” only one of the major flaws (crafting) in the most lazy and barely functionning way an then go radio silent for the next 6 months, only throwing breadcrumbs at you everytime you ask.
Sometimes a complete lunatic from the company goes on a rant about how customers are stupid spoiled children and starts a fire (basically every CM except Catfish) that needs weeks to calm while the company is still radio silent.
When the anniversary of the phone approaches they finally get out of their silence to announce a brand new 2.0 version of it with all options, given for free to everyone who bought the 1.0 and the only version people will be able to buy from now on (Talent tree overhaul). They simultaneously announce that they will launch the phone in another country (gamepass + xbox).
Everyone is happy, everyone is finally going to enjoy their phone and new customers will be able to buy a good product. Everything was fine, the world was happy and we could finally focus on the still missing or barebones features while enjoying something good. And that’s when it goes wrong.
Because the manufacturer decided to give every customer in the new country a free voucher worth the price of the phone to buy custom options of their choice. When you bought yours you could only get such a voucher by paying the all options versions and you only had a voucher worth 1/4 of the price of the phone. The manufacturer also decided to slightly increase the price of every new custom option to be slightly too expensive for your voucher worth 1/4 of the cost of the phone, forcing you to pay for a second voucher far more expensive than the amount you truly need because there is no way to buy the custom options with real money, you have to pay vouchers and you can only buy them in pre determined sizes that are always slightly too big or too small to completely drain your vouchers account.
The original customers are unhappy and ask the manufacturer for something to compensate the year of beta testing they did on a product they paid and after another month of radio silence and thousands of comments about the situation from the community the manufacturer decides to give everyone, including the customers from the other country that got the big free voucher, a phone case that nobody asked for and nobody in the community had input on.
Do you see the problem now ? This isn’t just “game went on sale and customers are mad because they didn’t get the sale”, it’s “game was trash at launch and only barely survived because the original customers stayed on the boat long enough for the company to fix the ship and all they got for it was a shitty tshirt while the new customers get the crappy tshirt and 40-60 euros of premium currency to buy more tshirts that might not be as crappy as the free ones”

It shows precisely why the Steam community has every right to be upset about this aquila issue still not being solved properly.
Here’s hoping that Fatshark will listen. I am hopeful that the official response from Catfish is a good sign.

I don’t like exclusive cosmetics anyway. The developers should definitely come together and admit they delivered an underbaked buggy and poorly optimized game and took literally 1 year to fix it using the community feedback for the barest bug fixing only. This is what I want acknowledged, not that they gave Game Pass players on console (and not PC for some reason) a ton of free Darktide funbux to convince them to buy. That is its own issue you made, and one I don’t really like to fan separately. You should’ve known better.
