XBOX got 14.000 aquilas - Steam got nothing (Fatshark responded 23/01/2024)

You dress for yourself first.

I mean not much proof those are linked and they weren’t going to increase prices anyway, but if they are linked I’ll admit that’s the first good argument I’ve seen for why the promotion was bad.

Thank you Draconian for the supporting words. I believe if we don’t even try, there is no chance for positive change. Hopefully Fatshark finally listens and heeds the words of this community.

Thank you very much brosgw, the modesty by which you present your valiant efforts just shows how big as a person you are. The amount of RNG in this game is insane, it is perfectly justified people to be upset with it. In the Steam thread next to the aquila issue I also mentioned the rework of the RNG itemization as a recommended action for Fatshark to take if they want to start winning back community goodwill.

It would be the easiest and most fair solution if Fatshark just gave everyone the same bonus in the form of aquilas. They surely would win big both player number and goodwill wise.

you have been a lolcow in the steam forums for such a long time now Oaka.

people made fun of you and called you Johnny Silverhands.

There is nothing wrong with the 14k gift, just as there is nothing wrong with sales in general. Early adopters always pay more.

I’m a PC gamer, and this is a complete non-issue to me, just like people buying the game at a 50% discount on Black Friday does not change the fact that I bought the game at full price… and the Imperial Edition (or whatever it was called) that came with Aquillas that I still have not used because I resent the cash shop.

… as for closing down threads, depends on the tone of the discussion I suppose and how much console war nonsense is tossed around. Just because I personally would never consider owning a console does not mean I have to be an arse to those who like them.

I rather be compared to Johnny Silverhand any day of the week than be a corporat. Even brosgw got called out and insulted before for his valiant effort on this forum, so I don’t really care if some vitriolic people just want to insult me for trying to stand up for what I believe and what would benefit everyone.

What matters is the issue at hand - Fatshark should treat the Steam community better and give them the bonus they deserve.

Of course there is no need to be against the XBros! I have no beef with them. Even in the original thread I said several times that I am happy that they were able to get the Vanguard Pack which was supposedly an “exclusive” “aplogy” to PC players. It’s good that they got it too, as every player deserves the same bonus for their purchase.

What I have a problem with however, is that the Steam players were left out - Fatshark should give the same bonus aquilas to us which they already gave to the other half of the playerbase.

How about you ask Microsoft and steam for equivalent offers ?

Like it was a deal that was paid by MS to push people off the gamepass and to buy the game

Wouldn’t only work if you buy the game AGAIN and why do that?

but we got “free cosmetics” (and also the actual only free cosmetics that aren’t a copy pasta with minor tweaks)
/sarcasm

Honestly I really like these cosmetics - except for veteran. But on the three other classes they are pretty cool and I use them a lot.

They are cool.
But also reskins/mix n match of existinc elements.

The first release on the first platform having to deal with bugs and balance changes is completely normal, sad as it is. A new platform release getting previous DLC’s and extra for free is also completely normal. I’ve bought a ton of games on Steam that first got out on consoles 1-2 years prior and got the same benefits for example.

14k Aquilas was a bit over the top, sure, but also predictable. Considering the failed release on PC and the resulting bad reputation, it was obvious they had to go out of their way to make sure the XBOX release would compensate for that. I understand being grumpy about it ofc, and they definitely should’ve done a lot more bug & balance fixes and more content on the first year on PC no doubt about that, but these topics especially at this stage just scream of entitlement.

It is what it is, and it’s understandable given the circumstances. Time to move on. Either enjoy the game, or don’t and move on to something different.

It’s never time to move on. It’s important that FatShark (and anyone looking at their products) is constantly reminded that people are keeping track of every single one of their lies, and every single one of their outright malicious and exploitative practices.

I have looked at the previous Steam thread and it derailed and became very argumentative between several players hence it was locked. This thread had previously been locked and then reopened due to it devolving into non-productive arguments.

This is not an attempt to silence the Community - if we were trying to do so we would have locked it a long time ago along with other long standing threads such as the crafting memorial to be honest.

I am happy for you to create threads to discuss these issues, but please make sure they adhere to the rules otherwise we will need to close them - we are just trying to keep the peace here.

I will continue to pass on the feedback that you are not happy with the resolution put in place.

Dear Catfish,

Thank you very much for the response and ensuring us that you will pass on the feedback to the devs.

It is reassuring that you responded. I am hopeful that the devteam will see that it is fair for the Steam community to be voicing their grievances that they never had the chance to get the same bonus - and properly rectify it this time.

I will also continue to adhere to the guidelines and stay on point - this is why this thread is here after all. Perfectly justified point on your part about this.

I will adjust the OP and the Steam thead accordingly by adding your response to it as an update on this matter.

Thank you Catfish for the heads up and and also for the work you do for us in the Forums.

To re-iterate my own throughts from that first thread, the animosity they bred with Steam players who felt the Xbox offer was a snub to us for our year of paid-in beta testing could have been so easily avoided.

I think (ergo, I may very well be wrong) they should have gotten someone senior and sincere-sounding from Fatshark to make a short video addressed to PC players to thank us for sticking with them after the absolute car crash pile-up of a launch, for our feedback and contributions in helping to shape the game to where it is now. At the same time give us 4-5,000 Aquilas and - I do not feel it is hyperbole to say - I think many of us would have been content with that. A thank you, a nod and a wink of recognition, and a few Aquilas to spend on those faux-DKoK packs (I still laugh at their justification for the price hike) or what have you which were released at the same time.

It would not have sorted everything in my eyes, simply because of the predatory nature of that in-game store and their fishing for whales with subpar and at times unfinished/unpolished cosmetics, as well as re-coloured skins being sold for greater prices (thinking of the Ogryn’s snow camo outfit). However, I don’t have to spend my money on them if I don’t want to, and those IE Aquilas can sit there gathering dust until they actually put out something I’d want to get. If there ever is anything, I should add, which after a year is not looking too likely.

Why did we need to reopen this discussion about the Aquilas Promotion?

You’re really taking that a little too personal, OP.

Solid effort, keep it alive @Oakatusz
