The Mourningstar Memorial; lest we forget

I know for a fact that the witches weren’t ugly.

The fact they’re Scottish women would seem to disagree with that…

No, you’re thinking of English women now :joy:

Isn’t the saying, “British food and English Women made them explore the world,” or something along those lines?

The Mongolians conquered the known world because they wanted to explore other cultures.

The English conquered the known world because they wanted to escape from their own culture.

The biggest issue in media is that directors have largely forgotten the idea of “show, don’t tell”

Telling instead of simply showing can genuinely be an insult to your audience’s intelligence.

I’ll provide an example:
When George Lucas was making Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, he opted to introduce Darth Vader into a specific scene by playing menacing music and making him stand out to the audience in both colour scheme and size instead of simply having someone off to the side saying “that’s the evil Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith!”

Guess what? The audience DEFINITELY got the idea.

I like to do this too but with Hip Hop and music in general. I really, really, like buying legit copies of a rapper’s songs or albums and some video game OSTs that I enjoy. It’s something of a collector hobby that I do in my free time if I’m not strapped for cash and can afford to do so.

My biggest regret though is not being able to buy an official OST of Ravenloft’s tracks. I was kind of disappointed when not even GOG had it - still bought it there regardless just to get those manuals. Of course you can find preservation archives of it online by generous members who strive to preserve games from the 80s-90s era; but it is not the same as actually buying and owning it.

Just listen to this:

Real shame.

Although that’s a different issue I have. Overly villainous and heroic characters. Makes them seem less real. Give me morally ambiguous characters. Give me people with complex motives and desires. Altruistic self sacrificing heroes and tyrannical megalomaniac are tired, done, and mostly non-existent.

OSTs make up 60% of my music library.

I mean, characters CAN be done absolutely heroic or absolutely villainous and still be entertaining… but it’s VERY hard to nail.

Think Superman and Owlman, two characters who are absolutely heroic and absolutely villainous respectively. They’re both done VERY well and are VERY entertaining.

When it’s not done right… just stick to “morally grey”, I do agree.

Do you guys think Fatshark has plans to remake Mourningstar in the future?

If they have such plans, it was never stated anywhere and none of the updates ever added anything into the gamefiles that may suggest it. I would be very surprised if what we got isn’t what it will remain

I haven’t been watching many movies or tv recently, but the stuff I have been watching is a faaarrr cry from a typical anime literally explaining every character with their backgrounds and motivations in dialogue the moment they appear on screen while they cover their mouths so they don’t have to animate anything.
