I was playing around in Excel trying to get a random roll-simulator.
It’s pretty hard to get 5 random numbers between 60 and 80 that add up to 380 without maxing or minimising one out! As each number is rolled you kinda keep needing to back-check you’ll make it to 360 at least, and not get to 320 before the last roll. Maybe one for chatgpt! I’d love to see the code FS use; wonder if it rolls above 80 (e.g. up to 100) then rounds down to 80 as needed - hence why we often see at least one 80, often more (e.g. 4x80, 1x60), whereas 5*76s are extremely rare.
(my quick stab - but you’ll likely need to roll a few times to get them to line up)
Finally this new patch has encouraged me to try all all classes again and lots of builds.
Just a bit more chance for even stats around 5x75% without dump stats instead of 4x80% + 1x60% would be welcomed from Brunt - As that still involves 50x mass buy.
The mastery headstart is a thank god I don’t have to start over and pretty easy to dump old weapons to rank it up.
Feels more casual in menu mechanics so can spend less time there and more time within missions instead.
I admit - It is a good update finally.
Solo mode to test builds against moving/attacking enemies without involving other players and give me native ammo counter for team and I could live without all other mods entirely.
Don’t use a random number for the fifth stat. Use 380-SUM(previous4)
Based on the behaviour of armoury/Brunt compared to Melk I feel like the random range wasn’t adjusted when they imposed a lower cap. In Excel terms MIN(new_cap, random_value_that_often_goes_above_cap) so most of the stats are landing on the cap.
I recorded some data showing that I get god rolls on 12% of the weapons at the armoury. If the probability was flat my napkin maths suggests I’d see perfect weapons only 0.0005% of the time. Happy for a better mathematician to improve that calc.
It might be something to do with the way empowerment is applied and I have not looked into that but that would not (at first glance) explain why Melk items do not behave this way.
I was one of those folks, and I have had full mastery day 1. In fact as anyone else I have 4 points left over, thanks to the surge staff mastery tree bug
If only they could make easier ti get decent curios, I’m finally developing my Psyker and Veteran that were kida left on their own because I didn’t have the will to invest loads if resources in characters that are less interesting for me, it’s gonna be annoying to get a decent pool of them.
Always played with Vet and Zealot. I thought let me dust off the Ogryn and he still had the classic Butcher 3 and ripper 2 from back in the day. Poor Ogryn, neglected for nearly 2 years. Just picked highest rated build on Darktide builds website and quickly put together in minutes optimised without RNG crafting. Now onto Psyker experimenting. It has given a renewed experience to try other classes and things more.
For those that want balanced weapons without 4x80% & 1x60% and not have to go through Brunt RNG mass buy…I noticed Melk has quite a few popup regularly roughly 5x 75-76%. Maybe Melk is useful after all i.e. if you’re playing Zealot and want mobility stat.
If it was just as easy to adjust but also balance the stats yourself. Very custom builds can be had. Perfect.
Yeah I have always played all classes but been testing weapons I normally would never have invested in. It’s changed my favourite weapons on a few builds. The penances have also moved me to try other builds I normally wouldn’t.
Guess this has been quite the journey now. 2 years, flew by so fast.
Now got to try out so many builds, doing screenshots in case of game updates that reset/change the skill tree. Feels like hands no longer tied in time. Few mins on Darktide builds website then few minutes to implement same builds in game.
The new maps wish there were more and more frequently.
But yea crafting, builds, only bit of RNG. Good improvement.
Lots of threads about balancing - With that would be neverending as trying to make every weapon viable, situational and to be equally effective during mission. Continuous. Alot more variables to consider and all matter of perception. I won’t get involved into that rabbit hole!
Crafting wise. Glad it ended up as positive outcome to change. But good lord 2 years, but ok got there in the end!
