Reapers 100+ meters from you + 2 snipers? This is so insanely rare I can only think of a few situations where this could even be a problem. If you give me one more dude with some minimal range (las, psyker, anything), or at least a stun nade it could be fixed if you play well enough.
You aren’t meant to survive alone. Flamer is the best weapon there is outside of some really, really rare situations. Bring flamer! Always! Shooters will cover the rest if you cover them.
It’s “ok” on Diff 1-3 unless it’s 3 with Hi-Intense Horde and you can run into issues mention with mixed armor that can’t be hit cause trash blocks everything.
Figure of speech. 50 meters is already long and it happens a lot and Flamer won’t reach anywhere near that. Especially if you add to that range mobs spam of lasguns.
Flamer is great, but only if it’s not ONLY Flamer left. You need someone else to cover you on more ranges. Bomber srunning away in distance when you melee with horde? Tough luck with Flamer. Trappers running away after you dodged when fighting melee. Too far away now for Flamer. Snipers on other side when you do objective. Flamer? Nope. Not to mention switching in clutch moment is too slow on it. That’s why I love my MK XII as it switches very fast and I can try to headshot in the middle of melee fight like in V2. Also Flamer on alt fire almost roots you in place. With weapons like XII or Bolter I can still dodge around and be mobile giving extra seconds to land shots, especially with high Mobilty roll. Also flamer obscures a lot and can prevent from spotting a special in critical moment.
So yeah, Flamer have big downside and it’s good. Tell me downsides of Power Sword.
Not sure I agree on general take. These are first weeks of the game, let’s be honest most randoms do not have enough experience to tackle anything on diff 3+. Many ppl are being carried by more experienced (like V2 vets) players atm. This , for me at least is a ppl familiarity with the game and it’s mechanics what is the issue if you are a lone survivor on D5, not weapons selection.
Just my view on it, no one “has to” see it the same way
Obviously if you are not playing optimaly it doesn’t matter and that is fine! No isssue here. I am just saying that it’s the recipe to MAXIMIZE your success chance since you have no idea if randoms will be good or bad, right? Obviously is not requirement at all, you can still win, just odds are smaller if your randoms team are not good or have bad setups/gear etc.
So yea, it’s not needed to have a chance but it definitely increases chances a lot
Benny is dead right. I don’t play zealot much, and I don’t play d5. I don’t need my weapons to perform at that level. I’ve done 5 in V1 and V2, but only in a premade with guys I knew well.
I can get my fun at 3 and 4, but guys like Benny need those to perform at D5, since it’s the same weapons pool. If D5 exists, there have to be weapons that can handle it for the players who are up to the challenge.
It’s junk at all levels. All it has over Bardin’s hammer in Verm is the boom, and the boom hits something else most of the time, isn’t aoe, and doesn’t stay active on the hammer like it should.
Yeah shame it doesn’t have V2 2h hammer light attacks super armor damage. I don’t know why they took it away. It was why 2h hammer was so good in V1 and V2. It had horde control/clear on heavies and super-armor overheads attacks for elites. Bad take from Fatshark again not understanding their games.
Flamer has insane reach. It has minimal downsides that you can play around.
Boss damage? Check. Dealing with hordes? Check. Dealing with hordes of shooters? Check. They are too far away? Charge! Multiple reapers? Check. Any specials apart from mutant or sniper? Stun and burn them to death!
Power sword is the only good horde-clearing weapon that veteran has. No wonder it gets picked, but don’t tell me other classes don’t have ways to deal with hordes, ragers ect… just as well if not better than a Sharpshooter.
Zealot, for example, is a super tanky killing machine destroying everything in its path even on higher difficulties, it just takes a bit longer to learn and play than Sharpshooter.
No, it has not insane range. It has way less reach than shotgun for example. Saying it has insanse range is just pure false. Like I can’t even find argument because everyone can just go in game and see.
Boss damage? A lot of range weapons have great boss damage. Bolter on full auto. XVII Lasgun on weak spots.
They are too far away, charge? Really? Away from team? On DAMNATION? Prove me more how you don’t play on Difficulty 5. Also range attacks cancel your ult so it’s like 50/50 chance even if you have them in reach, there is no obstacles/elevation. It’s very very bad advice for everyone.
You also totally ignore the fact that Flamer has no mobility which is very important too. Again, works in team super good if team is fine, but sucks if you have to carry.
I say again: Flamer is great. But it has downsides that I personally don’t like to have when I play with randoms.
My God, tell me more how you don’t even play with Pwoer Sword. It’s not about horde-clearing. A lot of weapons can do that. It’s about cleaving through multiple armor enemies/ragers AMONG the horde while staggering them on fast power swings. No weapon can do that. Power Sword is taken becasue it can clear armor units like nothing. Multiple ones. It has insanse high flak armor damage, carapace armor damage, boss damage, cleave, cleave on armor. Everything.
He is not super tanky killing machine. Nobody who plays on Dmantion would say that. He can be “tankier” in melee thanks to his 75% toughness damage reduction on crits but it requires you to constantly attack becasue it’s very short duration, flamer or bomber can delete that build in one second on damantion when you can have like 2-5 of them in small areas.
“Destroying everything on his path” dude, that’s sounds like Diff 1-3 for me. Nobody would said that if he plays on Damnation.
Anyway, I can see you have your power fantasy and that’s cool. But that’s not how it works in real life. Zealot is fine on Heresy/Damnation, but let’s not pretend it’s some superman, cause he is not.
The bolter isn’t tight on ammo though. It’s my go to on both the zealot and the vet, and I almost never struggle on ammo even with someone else sucking it all up.
I agree. If you are accurate I very rarely had ammo issues. If you are not accurate though I can see that someone can struggle with ammo a lot on bolter.
Or those with happy full auto fingers on hordes, lol
I must be super lucky to never see veterans with it and if they do have it they die before they charge it.
If it’s so op then make every other dumb weapon even dagger stronger instead nerfing everything to ground.
Hel, I’m playing on a controller (hand mucked) so I’m not that accurate and I still don’t struggle. The only time I’m going full auto is when there’s things that need to die right now in our faces that my melee can’t take care of.
The bolter’s balance is whack. Even without the vet’s bonuses, it’s still the best weapon if you have access to it.
Same with the power sword. As a vet I’m doing more melee then with my zealot (but that’s a team thing) and I’m absolutely wrecking face in melee because of how much damage and the attack patterns of the power sword. It’s simple, easy, and the damage bump with the special is better then the chain weapons.
Every vet that I’m seeing at lvl 20+ is rocking one, and they’re mowing down the enemies in melee.
It is clear many ppl have different views on the topic, some look for end game viability, others just want their WH40K fantasy in motion, imagine: some even want the Power Sword to be constantly charged O_o.
I am probably gonna get a lot of flak for this, but what the hell.
Before this gets out of hand lets accept that other ppl like/look for different things. Power sword may be a swiss army knife on vet and I will still prefer to play my chainsword and chain axe (Kharn my hero).
The same with Evi or Thunder Hammer (highest 1 shot dmg wpn, besides carepace?)on Zealot.
And you may all say TH sucks, becasue it lacks precison !!! and I will tell you “git gud”, while killing 10 pox walkers with charged, trying to hit my Rager and looking in dismay as his head pops due to that sneaky Psyker in the second line
Cheer up guys and let’s make the game better !!
You know people could do solo runs on Cata in V2 with worst weapons too. People solo Elden Ring/Dark Souls with clubs/bare hand on level one. Hell someone soloed Dark Sould blindfolded I think.
But it doesn’t mean everyone can do it, most won’t be able to or won’t bother going harder way to do what something else can do easy way.
So that doesn’t mean that one weapons are not strictly better than others. If they are too far away from each other it decreased options for people that just want to have fair shot at higher difficulties without tearing out of frustration. I agree that each player fun is his own sanctuary but non single player games need some balance as it will just make it better for more players in long run.
Balance is required and currently balance SUCKS hard in Darktide. Some things are way better than others and some way worse than others. Obviously we will see when Fatshark will start to rollout more balance patches.
Maybe, I cannot say. I did not try all weapon blessings and perk combos with all traits on all chars yet. Not to mention stupid crafting not being there yet. We are most likely missing some weapons that FS plan to put in their “seasonal” approach, as well.
I’ll reserve my judgement till sometime later.
You may be 100% correct. Peace.
