Polls about prefered weapons per class and what you think needs nerf/buff

The poll is divided in two parts.
First part, you are invited to select your favorite weapon for each class. These polls let you choose only one option. It means, you have to choose the one you play the most with it.
Second part, you are invited to give your opinion on weapons you think that need a nerf or a buff. These 4 polls are multiple choices and you can pick as many choices you want.

The idea behind these polls is get an idea of the weapons that are more used (objectives data) and also to get the opinions of all players on what need to be nerfed or buffed (subjectives datas).

This poll will be closed after the next patch (as it will adjust things for weapons). I will open a new poll, similar (with things adjusted cause I have learnt from my mistakes in this one) 30 days after

Just to say but Melee Veteran doesn’t have a “I don’t play Veteran” option

Also while I also chose a few weapon to be buffed, it’s less buffing and more reworking them:

Chainaxe: Camera Snap need to be toned down a lot, make me sea sick when using it

Force Sword: That blessing should become core to the weapon, but become available for all staves (Turning their special attack into a shield) and melee weapons (changing their block stance to a normal stance or running stance for the hand that hold the weapon)

Slab Shield: Change move set to be less tanking indefenetly and more about CC and moving forward
like having 2 special attacks:
If Blocking: Shield bash/Crush
If not: Power Maul activation

I don’t play Ogryn, but whenever I see a shield ogryn, I know it’s going to be an incredibly bad match. (At higher diff). Which means it’s probably too good at keeping the ogryn safe (which means people rely on it instead of learning the game mechanics), and also terrible at killing things. I’m not sure if it could be buffed meaningfully without making it BiS. It maybe shouldn’t exist, since at least from the outside as a non-ogryn player, it seems to only teach ogryn players bad things.

We cannot edit a poll after 10 minutes… so I cannot correct it.

The whole kit should exist (Though I’d prefer it on the Grenadier Gauntlet, though mechanically I dunno how that’d work), but the mechanic of it shoudl be very different.

Like take Ironbreaker with Hammer and Shield in Vermintide, It’s the same type of weapon+shield but the way it work is so differently that you don’t really have the problem that you promote a passive play, because with it you basically become a high CC/stun generator

Yeah VT2 was a while ago for me, but didn’t shields mostly just give you way more stamina to block with? And I suppose block ranged once that became a thing.

More stamina but also more push capacity, which made them into aggressive weapon in the good hands

Way more stamina to do the great push-attacks with. (At least the good shields. There were definitely some duds like BretSword+Shield and with Flail+Shield I feel like you mostly only needed to spam heavies, which was really effective but also felt a bit boring.)

Slab shield heavy attacks would be nicer if they came with the guard point that Grail Knight’s knight sword has. Some of the animations has the ogryn pretty much covering himself with the shield in preparation for a backhand.

A little too broad to get a good pulse on certain weapons.

A bunch of mks make weapons fundamentally different from other mks of the same weapon.

Also I can’t believe I’m not the only person who voted to nerf combat blades, what it dooooooooo :call_me_hand::call_me_hand::call_me_hand::call_me_hand:

I think the intended use for the ogryn shield is stun locking crowds instead of killing them, and iirc it was actually pretty good when used like that.

Its more making enemy Ogryn gunners hit the shield while someone in the team can shoot them without being suppressed.
Sadly the Shield makes some Ogryn players personating the ‘‘OGRYN’’ to much. So they stop fighting and just place down the block shield instead of bonking enemies.

This poll is pretty massively held back by not separating out different MKs.

EG I picked kantrael lasguns for nerf, but that is exclusively aimed at the MK XII, that should really cost 4 ammo per shot so it doesn’t get to have crazy good ammo economy to go with its other benefits.

Similarly cleaver MK III is pretty perfect where it is, while the other 2 MKs pretty desperately need buffs.

As a side note cracking up a bit at the number of people that seem to think heavy sword needs buffs. Once we have blessing crafting and everyone can slap head taker on their heavy sword I think that view will shift heavily. Almost all of Zealot Discord seem to have come around to how good heavy sword is now.

Well there’s 2 other heavy swords without big sweep heavies, when its down to 4 target lights that have like 20 less damage per swing for horde clear its way worse than like Mk6 vs Mk3 cleaver or 2/4 duelling vs 5. Also that strikedown heavy is trash anyway.

Also yeah some marks have 1 godly 1 usable and 1 trash variant, so lumping them together for brevity makes it hard to answer coherently.

But in general autoguns have too little ammo, ogryn shotguns too little range/ammo, most bracing weapons are less effective braced so its a wasted function. And if weapon customization never comes the infantry autos need that front sight post slimmed down, and maybe a slightly illuminated post like you get with some skins where this surface becomes reflective. Dealing with scabs with an infantry autogun is pain, while you can easily track and see the yellow Dregs on any background.

Tbh: that is lorewise the most un-ogryn-ish thing there is.
In “Kill-Team” Bullgryn (Slab + Powermaul) where beasty killers in meelee, even Teeminators had to fear them. The shield was just that protctive asset to get them there …
Ogryns storm straight into the fight tearing their enemies to pieces.
In Darktide: (being a passionate Ogryn-player) I agree to the point some/most Ogryn just slam that thing to the floor and think “job’s done”

To get the slab more like the Tabletop-asset, i’d change basicly the following two:
a) normal movement while blocking (including running) to get you in touch with your ranged friends, currently they got shot to the ground or zealoted into peaces before you arrive…
b) buff the Heavy attacks dmg (not that much needed, just NEAR the cleaver) to make it a vaiable killing-choice, CC is all good, but the game is about kiling stuff, and imagine what it would do to you if someone smashed a solid (thick) metal door with force at your face … gues it would not only result in you doing a step backwards … (one could argue to buff the light attacks dmg, too, but I think this should be the weakpoint, otherwise it would be too good…

Get the hell off my gun lol. Bring the other lasguns up don’t nerf the MK XII

to be honest a load of stuff needs a buff since its just crap atm. Does not mean the things that do work should be broken to bring them all in line with each other.

I don’t think you understand core issue Ogryn faces on high difficulty. Your hit box is massive so you have hard time finding cover from ranged attacks. This is why shield is meta. You get to bring cover with you. Anything other and you get shredded by ranged. Doesn’t help that your ranged options to deal with enemy shooters are limited as well.

Any comparison to V2 is irrelevant since ranged combat wasn’t an issue.

With that said, there are good times to use shield special, but that times aren’t as common as some think. I wouldn’t mind shield special to be reworked slightly. For example still work as regular block against melee attacks while giving that much needed unbreakable protection/deployable cover against ranged.
