Flamer, good as it is, has 3 limiting factors. Range is one of them. Other 2 are time to kill and ammo consumption/capacity. How good it is over whole mission will depend how much ammo you can pick up. On lower difficulty it isn’t that much of an issue as you get a lot of ammo compared to number of enemies you face. On higher difficulties, you might start running low really fast. Not to mention any ranged special will be an issue.
Time to kill is the other issue related to ammo consumption. You won’t do much with single shots from flamer. Usually you will use bursts that at best burn 1/4 of the tank. With more hectic situations you are more likely just empty whole tank.
It also depends what map are you playing. On some maps flamer will be God tier. On other a decent tool or liability. It also depends on your team load out.
One can argue that purgatus staff is better since you don’t suffer the ammo issues and you actually have skills that synergies with it but you don’t see people calling for the nerf.
Purgatus is not needed to nerf, cause it is on psyker. The purgatus is not as effective as is the flamer.
I tested it 2 days. This is really a very very good weapon. 40% (and considering the fast 6% don’t play zealot, I should not have put this option ;() use flamer. This show how people think this is an effective weapon. Like 56% use power sword as veteran (and considering the 22% that don’t play as veteran).
I am ok with the fact that flamer is a horde killer, that’s fine. But what is less fine it is that it also kill everything except crusher pretty easily and without the ned to aim.
You assume it is use widely because of effectiveness. What about Thunder Hammer? You still have relatively high usage %. Flamer is iconic zealot weapon, same as thunder hammer. Some of that usage % will come from that fact alone.
2 days of play isn’t a lot. I have been playing with flamer since launch and I know how good it can be. Had plenty of cases when ammo run out or just enemies were too far and all I could do was take cover and hope my team can take care of them.
Flamer is good but isn’t God tier weapon that needs a nerf. It has enough weaknesses to compensate. Big part of it’s power is the Chastise the Wicked function on ranged attacks, but that will work on any weapon.
Maybe you should try to play with the other weapons to see the difference.
You blame me to point its effectiveness, however effectiveness is what permits to estimate what should need to be nerfed. If something is really more effective than all other weapons, then it needs a nerf.
Bolter is effective, but the small magazine, the slow reload animation and the fact that it takes a long time to switch to it make this weapon not really too effective. This is a great weapon, but not as powerfull as a flamer.
Are you really gonna tell me it doesn’t clearly stand out as a sniping gun? The other MKs aren’t even bad, just the XII randomly gets to have more damage AND more ammo efficiency? Would you really stop using it if it cost 33% more per shot? Thought it was a pretty mild suggestion for a nerf TBH.
Noone is playing with shield on Damnation, and probably on Heresy too. Cleaver MKIII and GG is meta, heavy stubber is decent too, rumbler is ok. To stay alive on higher difficulties you need mobility with ogryn, cause you need take cover fast and dodge slide alot. Shield ogryn is a useless deadwight that stays afk while thinking he somehow help his team.
It’s not, You can dash, with specific feat you can dash 2 times, then dodge slide the use this
to stagger gunners and go wooooosh with secondary.
We are limited to 20 options in polls. I could not do it.
What I regret is that I added the option “I don’t play” for ranged weapons. I have forgotten it for melee, but it is better to see results.
Maybe I could have also offered several choice for each class (like 2 or 3).

I have seen one playing on heresy. What I love (irony inside) with ogryn that has shield, it is that 80% of them put their shield on ground and… wait.
This is not all, but enough for, when you see one in a mission, wondering “does this Ogryn will play or will he just watch us fighting while staying away of fights with its shield?”
The one I saw on heresy did not play… and ended killed cause we have died and… he has to fight and died also
Because it is what it is. Other MKs are not a sniper rifles.
They are, if you will play them you will get finger arthritis fast. MK12 can’t deal with carapace or stagger bulwarks (and here is where Luscious shoud shine, but it still sucks), it also can’t delete poxbusters or mutes fast enough if they are spawned way to close, and if you was swarmed it also not so good cause of fire rate, while other MKs are better against hordes and go full pew pew pew.
Yeh needs scope imo or at least holo sight I would prefer to use the lucious but I don’t like the sights. Not sure about whether it should delete armoured targets or not I think they don’t want you to be able to do everything with just one gun on one guy. To try and promote some sort of team dynamic.

It is lore accurate that laser’s don’t do well against armour in 40k anyway. There’s a lot of times in the books where a guy just stands there tanking small arms fire and laser shots.
yeh true ive tried them all, got some really nice rolls back when I was crafting on every gun except the XII (of course) and I cant use any of the they are just feel weaker you have to grill everything
Yeah, i don’t mean it should be like bolter or plasma gun ofcourse. Helbore MKI and III already can deal some decent damage to carapace with charged shots. Maybe it just needs a better scope indeed to improve this gun a lot. And a bayonete attack is totally useless, even torch is better.
Personnally, what I would seen as a good move, would be something like that:
Buffs propositions:
Laspistol = increase damages at short range, and lower it at middle range and no damages at long range (laspitol critic well, so no need for more)
Shredder autopistol = increase the ammos in magazine and the total ammo you can carry
Revolver = Up a little the damages, increase ammos you can carry, make the reloading a little faster
Shotgun = make them devastating at close range but with a spread mecanism. They should be low damage at middle and no damage past that
Headhunter = more precision. Maybe a scope and with a single shot fire for the alt fire ?
Infantry autogun = here, simple. These weapons are really viables, however they have less ammo than Brautos and use more. So, they need to permit us to carry more ammo that brauto weapons
Helbore = maybe a scope instead of the useless bayonet ?
MG others than MGXII = they need love, clearly. Maybe an auto fire for these weapons? (hold fire continue to fire like a recon lasgun but with slower rate of fire).
Nerfs propositions:
Flamers = Make elites / specialists get less burning stacks (several ways for this: limit stacks / 5 or 10 seconds, enforce a limit of 3 stacks etc.). I must say that it would need testing… I don’t really know why the flamer is so efficient and without any need to aim… and this makes it OP
Power sword = someone proposed that the energy of the sword would need to recharge, in other words a cooldown between several uses of the alternate attack (energized) (maybe every 3 uses of energized hit, a cooldown of 10 seconds)
People simply don’t understand concept of darktide weapons.
There are many manufactories with special features.
Just because there is one single Laspistol doesn’t mean it’s weak. It was build that way on purpose, since it’s from Accatran. Accatran lasguns are full-auto with low damage per shot. But since laspistol made semi-auto intentionaly - it’s right where it should be. You don’t need to buff Accatran laspistol, you just need some Lucius or Kantrael laspistol. Same goes for other weapons.
FS is using under licence Warhammer 40k lore wich is Games Workshop property.
And a lot of ppls bought the game cause it is a 40k.
The lasgun in 40k lore is a trash weapons and that’s why we begin with, for exemple, and why PS is a powerfull weapon , and should stay effectiv, like bolter, and why they should buff plasma gun etc.
I see where you’re coming from. You want something matching the books of WH40k. I would say that I play a game.
When you see someone saying “Revolver in damnation? Why??”, it confirms me my feeling. Off course, it doesn’t need a big buff, it needs a slight buff.
The problem is that, actually, we have few choices in high difficulty levels if we want to be efficient.
And switching of weapon to experiment a new gamplay is something fun. What is fun is what make people keeps playing the game…

Problem of the power sword is that it can clean horde faster than any other melee weapon… So that would be fine for me such change.
I think like someone said it that the power sword has to stay a power sword…
Then Fatshark should have launched the game with 10 weapons and that’s all… Why introducing weapons that are useless? they could have saved time.
Also, I am sure there are possiblities to adjust things.
Example, TW Warhammer… They added Cathay, a faction that is not in actual lore
And also… if you think that, we should remove all too strong weapons (bolter, plasma gun, power sword etc…) cause we can’t balance them.
I’m pretty sure there is other way to balance the game instead reducted idea about nerf / buff, you an give other advantages to players using a weapon than dealing damages, and it’s already the case, but, must be developed.
I almost never use my PS in damnation it s safty tool if you are in deep sh*t.
But, players are free to rush in melee with their PS, or use flamer to annihilate a corridor, or spread during 1min with the dakka gun, if its their way, their fun …
In darktide we r not playing complementary classes.
In my opinion it is, to have an optimal team, but it is not designed to absolutly be cause you can team up 4 ogryns etc
And i m pretty sure ppls dont understand that.
Also, maybe sharpshooter is the best designed class for a 40k game horde killer, and maybe ther s other ways to adjust the gameplay. Like taking inspiration of sharpshooter to tweak and up other classes.
In my opinion, nerfing “core” weapons isnt the way, tweaking the way a human can use a standard astartes weapon should be more accurate. Why not add stamina for melee attacks with a weapon weight that play on it ??? Can you ? Fight without being exausted like that ?
