People kicking because of low hero levels

You cant see votes against you. You automatically do vote no when they try to kick you.

i suspected that was the case… either way, it only happened once while leveling 4 heroes from 1 to 10 and above in veteran. Maybe I was just lucky though…

and yet…

Don’t get me wrong, the stats help…
another example of lower level against boss specifically… since that’s measuring damage on one or two things instead of through the whole map… most of the screens got skipped before i even got to see them, but there is this:

my bad, i did find one from level 8… similar story… think the elf joined in close to the end on this one though:

point is, if you’re decent you can still do fine.

O don’t get me wrong. Skill>gear, but from there point of view they don’t know your skill or gear. All they know is your level and have to make a judgement off of that.

Ideally, it would be nice if you got a border for hitting 30 so you could equip it on alts so people knew it was not your first toon.

that would be nice yes. Even if it could show your hero power or gear in the Tab screen… because i had around 250 hero power at level 1 from re-using orange trinkets and crafting a couple 200+ weapons.

Seems like its more of a system failure than a player one.

Firstly, I don’t think you know how percentages work… without a known baseline (base hero power + power from items) you cannot say someone deals 60% less damage. If someone deals 60% more (additive) damage due to some property, you have to know all the HP boni they have in order to determine “X deals Y% less damage”.

Also math lesson: if we assume there are no other boni and person A is doing more 60% damage in comparison to person B, it means that person B is doing 37.5% less damage in comparison to person A, not 60% less.

The way you put it you are GROSSLY misrepresenting things and it seems like some people are buying it. :frowning:

Secondly, there are hero power caps in place for difficulties. I think it’s possible to hit those caps with gear alone. So no, you won’t necessarily be handicapped on a low level character.

Thirdly, hitting those caps is not a requisite to play the difficulties.

I can tell you what is not reasonable: Your way of setting up your questions. It’s obvious to everyone reading to which side you’re biased towards and you’re asking me to choose between 2 loaded options. I don’t think answering serves anything since the problem is not posited fairly (it does not represent all the facets of the problem we are discussing).

Forcing two groups of players who don’t want to play together is always a bad idea.

So you are in favor of exposing the ethnic identity of people playing so racist people don’t have to play with “ethnic” people? Of course not, so this statement is obviously false. Do you want to amend it somehow?

Talents make or break a subclass so I’m not surprised.

Joined a quickplay match at level 4 on veteran with only 2 exotic trinkets. I was no match for the other players because my weapon was crap and I wasn’t tanky yet due to missing talents.

10% dodge range makes a subclass? Damage reduction after revive makes a subclass? If you want to argue that these are not optimal choices, I’d say they are still choices. If this is your argument, you want to gate your games based on talent selection, not based on level because no one makes you pick the useful talents.

I am against letting people to exploit others - especially anonymously. :grinning:

In team based games people should try to do their best. Joining higher level difficulties the second you meet the hero power req. is not doing your best, also it’s not fair for the other three players unless they are similarly gimped like you, or unless they don’t mind helping you out with leveling. Of course that doesn’t mean you should be max level for Veteran, but there is a difference between 1 and 10. (Personally I even played all the maps with bots solo before playing with other players to increase my performance - but that’s just me )

If you want to do content at min. requirements - feel free to do so. But the players who don’t want to decrease their chances of success and increase their chances of wasted time should be also free to not play with you.

We are all here to have fun and fun of one person should not be at cost of other people’s fun, which means that certain players should not play together, because their nature is not compatible.

It’s just my opinion, but when you put a racist, person of certain etnicity, social justice warrior and anti-sjw in one group it’s most likely not gonna be enjoyable experience for nobody.

Everybody should be allowed to play, but nobody should be forced to play with everybody unless they want to. It’s all about choices.

I disagree. I’m fine if they want to kick me from their private games, but quick queue is supposed to be QUICK. If you can’t deal with people who pass the requirements, stick to non-quick games IMO. I even deal with bad players in quick queue all the time. Could care less about their levels.

How would that game differ from any other game? Would the racist only attack the darker shades of rat, or? I’d say assuming everyone is playing and not talking, no one would notice. Likewise I’m sure you cannot tell the difference between level 5 and 10 character by just looking at them, especially if the level 5 has 100 more hero power. Ergo level gating is a dumb idea.

Thanks for clarifying that math. Was about to do the same.

Afaik, Recruit is 200, vet 400. Assuming you did at least 2-3 maps, you already are at lvl 5. With that you can hit the 350 power breakpoint with your equip. Meaning even a maxlevel player would only have one power breakpoint more than you, which wouldn’t be much. Nontheless, Talents are a point to consider.

I had no problems with lowlevel players on higher difficulties. Sure, more often than i like they don’t carry their weight. But I always give them a try. When we fail, most of the time they leave anyway. I only kicked a player once midgame, and this was a 25 wh on legend. Not because of his level but for obviously not being rdy at all for legend difficulty. The bot was at least a item bank which doesn’t use up all the items (natural bond on bot blocks them from using heal items, Kill him to get the healitem when you’re carrying tomes. Yea, poor bot :joy:).

@ninjaturtlehair

I feel sorry for you.

The only advice i can give you is: Try to comunicate a little. In my humble experience, the game’s community overall is pretty nice and chill.

If you don*t have friends to play with, just say hello. Keep it easy. Joke around in chat, or via VoiP and you’ll find some friendly ppl you can play more often with.

And i know it doesn’t help but personally i don’t kick ppl very often. I watch their playstyle and try to be a good example if i see they are new to the experience, give some tips and such. Only if ppl completely ignore every try to get some good teamplay out of it or if they repeatedly endanger the team after several tries to teach them otherwise i would kick ppl. But i would never kick ppl just because their character lvl is low. That’s just dumb.

Pretty much if I join a game as a low level character and people are expressing doubts, I just tell them I’ll stick with the team. That seems to be good enough for most people.

No amount of self-esteem, power level or entitlement is going to magically make an inexperienced player that hasn’t even played a career be on par with experienced players. Power level isn’t going compensate for lack of experience with a career, lack of unlocked talents or lack of appropriate weapons with the corresponding traits.

I kick low-level people on higher difficulties the moment they join - higher difficulties are not the place to learn how to play a career, sorry. I’m not wasting my time educating people and I’m most certainly not going to waste the time of the friends I play with either. I am also not obligated to carry useless members of a team just because otherwise I’d hurt their selfish feelings. And people that want to practically force others to put up with them being completely or partially useless in a team are exactly that - selfish.

How do you know this based on level? You can’t. And if they are better than you? Aren’t you selfish for not leaving? You talking about “higher difficulties” (note the plural) as something of a test of skill implies your skill level is not as high as most of the VT1 vets I know. So I’d rather take them testing their lvl 1 character than you.

Yes, I totally cannot see that they just unlocked a career or simply never played one (I.e. lv1) and decided to jump into a higher difficulty with it - because having NEVER actually played a career totally implies they know how to do it well. I also totally cannot see how many talents they have unlocked on that hero. It is also totally reasonable to expect that they’d have power 300 crafted items in all slots for it. That supposed power level is totally going to compensate for everything else too.

/sarcasm

And if you want to carry useless people on higher difficulties - more power to you. You’ll get the boot the moment you join my game though - couldn’t care less if that hurts your feelings or not.

You don’t know if they decided to jump on a higher difficulty. Maybe they play in legend and dropped back to champ to play around in the (relative) kiddie pool with a new character.
