This is the right path. FS could not launch like that this game on console.
May I ask ? This is not the community update we have waited and delayed 3 weeks ?
At least, I hope it is not. [EDIT: ok I’ve seen - Then it should have been published sooner - Anyways, good to see that]
But, for what it is, I am personnally happy to see that the company finally took in consideration the situation.
Unless they staff up for release and then staff down again, yes one would hope and assume that artists, mappers etc are working on maps, cosmetics and so on to be released either concurrently with this systems rework, or maybe even during. And to that, of course, just saying they’re working on crafting doesn’t tell us much, because they ought to be able to work on other stuff at the same time.
That being said, I fully expect Xbox to have a slightly different game. The maps might be smaller, though they seem to already have built-in ‘loading-elevators’ for potential console delivery. I also expect there to be far fewer, but chunkier enemies on Xbox. Who knows though, since this game actually has servers, maybe the Xbox release can be similar to PC.
Thanks, I am sure it’s not easy redesigning a lot of core components. Will look forward to the details. There are a lot of good suggestions in the forums.
I gave up already brother. You are owned by tencent and you released an unfinished cash grab with a fully functional cash shop. I don’t see this situation improving much.
What a joke. This game should have released Early Access instead of rushing out half a game to grab holiday season money.
A live service game is supposed to have regular content updates to keep players invested. It’s not an excuse to release an unfinished game and then trickle out the promised release content over a period of months, with actual content updates indefinitely delayed.
It helps that the Left for Dead games weren’t designed with crafting, progression, builds and similar RPGish systems, unlike the “tide” games. So when darktide, the 3rd game in this series, comes out and has worse systems than its predecessor, it’s no surprise when people get unhappy.
Why should I believe this when you guys said this already?
You have lost my faith in your company and you have lost me as a player and customer. I am removing the game from my computer and leaving this forum and I wont be buying anything from you again
Not as in depth on what the incoming changes are as I would have hoped, but I’m glad we’re hearing something.
Particularly rewarding progression is something that will hopefully make me fall in love with this game again.
The #1 thing was wanting to see a little humility and self-reflection from Fatshark and their acknowledgement about the game. If we (Fatshark and the Community) can’t agree that there’s a problem then we’d have no way to move forward.
But thankfully this letter is exactly what was needed to provide acknowledgement that we have a problem, and it even clarified that other things are out in the back burner. So kudos to Fs management.
Of course, actions are what ultimately matters. I wouldve liked more details about the future direction, and the timing is longer than what is hoped, but ultimately so long as progress is made and we’re rowing in the same direction, there’s cause for hope.
I’m not trying to be mean, pal, but I think most of their playerbase is gone.
When the game you launched five years ago has a bigger player base than the game you launched last month, you’re messing up pretty bad.
They felt comfortable making this statement because truly, finally, Fatshark realized they have nothing left to lose by being honest. It took them months and months to get there - longer than we’ve all been pissed, for one - but it has. I don’t expect it to last, but this is all we get.
People would probably come back if there were new missions and new story/metaplot which was the promise of the live service model.
Right now i’ve run out of fun stuff to do in the game. I’ve played every mission a bunch at level 4/5 and there’s not a lot more to reach for. The penances that I have left seem unfun and tedious so i’m ignorning them.
I got a decent amoutn of gameplay out of the content that was in at launch, so now I’m wiating to see if something new comes out.
Fatshark did not fall short, they did not even miss the mark, they did not even hit paper, this was wildly off target so much so you might as well have been on an entirely different range.
Yet you could continue down that path all the way up until launch? You mean to tell me you all had a bunch of cosmetic items ready on deck and a fully broken crafting system to launch it its only now when people point out in mass how unacceptable this is its a problem?
Also seasonal content? How about you just don’t do ANY seasonal contact crap, and just release map packs, stop doing seasonal BS, tell tencent to go pound sand and just make the game you made in VT2 but with a 40k skin, thats all we wanted and ever needed.
Wanna start making it up? Just admit you released a broken bad game, not “well fell shot”
Agreed. The crafting is important and i get the need for fixes. But i would love a new map or a new mission. To have to wait so long for it i fear for the player base.
Reworked old maps with more variations and new story stuff would be good
Any new story stuff at all would be good honestly.
Supposedly there’s something called “flash missions” which I haven’t seen yet that could be cool… if we saw any.
Ultimatley I assume there will be seasonal challenges with unique cosmetic awards if you complete special flash missions or a series of missions or somethign like that, linked to developments in the overarching storyline
