If you produce a defective product/half finished product, you “own it” by giving a refund. Almost all food places give you a free meal if they mess up.
If you sell an item that’s missing half of what you advertised, you own up to it by letting the buyer get a refund.
If you’re sold a broken/incorrect item you can refund it on Amazon.
If a barber messes up your haircut they typically don’t charge you for it.
That’s owning up to a mistake. Admitting they were wrong, then doing something to make people whole again. If they truly wanted to own up to something they should (but won’t) let people refund the game.
It’s all well and good they’re acknowledging they messed up. It’s been fairly obvious that DarkTide was a crash and burn. They haven’t done anything so far as to “own” the mistake.
I think the game is fine where its at but a part that personally keeps me playing is the promise of more to come. I want to see this game expand like it has the potential to do, especially given the ABSOLUTE ABSURD amount of 40k lore the game devs have to work with here.
With that being said this is a game being made here not just a TV show or a painting a wall, this is functioning art and it will take time to construct to the standard that the gaming community expects. I just hope mores sizeable content updates come before the community loses interest.
Problem is we need both.
DT compared to VT2 launch is a sham of a release. Technical issues aside, just the content is pitiful.
I would say that dark tide at least came close to the number of maps but thats an overstatement. At most DT has half the map count that VT2 had at launch. VT2 had 13 distinguished maps half the maps of DT just reuse the same map except you go through the same area just backwards.
Not to mention we only have 4 classes vs the 15 we got on launch for VT2.
I love that the bottom line is under threat so they’ve had to do this. We told you months ago there were problems and your staff and CMs basically ignored or mocked us (immeasurably complex). You reap what you sow and if anybody is stupid enough to believe this after massive radio silence then god help them.
This is the only reason they are doing this. If they had enough of a game to keep people buying skins they wouldn’t give a damn.
I enjoyed the game plenty. Gameplay is solid, though obvviously there’s bugs and balance issues that are starting to annoy now that i’ve played over and over. Art and atmosphere is excellent, really good stuff. The graphics are great and personally I’ve had zero performance or crash issues.
I still occasionally jump on to click on heads when a personal friend is also playing, but now I’m not playing much because there’s no new missions and no story stuff incoming so there’s not much else to see.
I actually think they’re making a mistake overall though by not moving forward with new content and instead jumping back into systems that are broken but ultimately not really important to the enjoyment of the game
They did staff up and staff down, the vermintide 2 devs are returning to vermintide.
One would assume those things. One would also assume that in a highly anticipated letter, promised to be specifically more transparent, they might mention them!
Sounds good
At least yall are admitting and owning up
Quick question: Will you guys ever allow for us to rely on p2p a.k.a. not be forced to connect to your servers?
My issue with the wording of the letter is that it doesn’t admit to any mistakes being made. It implies that the “vision” they have for each system is correct, and that they just fell short of implementing enough of their vision within a given time.
Ah I see this was the promised/delayed community update we were waiting for! Abandonment of the player base for months. As someone who still plays this game daily the seasonal content being removed feels like a slap in the face rather than an apology. I hope against hope you deliver the game you promised. I just hope there is enough of the player base remaining to play the game in the future.
I am mad they released it like that given how it killed the game and I don’t know if I’m cool with it.
Obviously I appreciate that they acknowledge something but if I were to nitpick, this letter still feels shallow and vague. They could still carry on track as they had planned it and fall within the scope of this message.
That being said, I do believe the intention is in the right place and I do think they plan on making changes. I don’t know if they have the “next few months” for them given the reviews and numbers of players curves going down, but I would rejoice in coming back to Darktide being in a fun, enjoyable and honestly its rightful state.
Fatshark, we know you know this is not much, but I am willing to believe it is the seed of a new beginning. Carry on, prove to us you can make this rough stone shine like the gem it ought to (have) be(en).
My game runs relatively well.
But focusing on stability and bug fixes is certainly the right approach.
I am still a little disappointed for sure.
We have seen games turning the corner in the past. No mans sky and Cyberpunk for example. Those were Single player focused though. I hope there will still (or again) be a decent player base by the time the many issues with DT can be addressed.
Except this is not “a person”. It’s a company. With a serious streak of telling lies, or at best, not really knowing how to properly work on a management level. The developers, they do some good work (although I would like to know how many vermintide developers still work there), the management? They are totally incompetent at both communicating and honouring the promises.
Well, that’s it for me…
I just checked Steam and I have 368 hours played.
Played almost everyday, had a lot of fun and it was such a treat to see this part of the 40K universe brought to life this way.
I was blown away by the way everything looks, the sounds, music, the animations, light, the whole art direction. Absolutely incredible and I don’t think there’s any other company who captured the dark and gritty feel of 40K as well as this or that can match the attention to detail that Darktide has. The scars and tattoos for example - was left speechless… You can tell true fans worked on this project.
I could go on for hours, days even : ) praising Darktide…
Having said all that though, I must admit this letter is quite disappointing…
I think holding out on content that could bring so much for the people that stayed ( even if there are little things ) is a huge mistake.
Anything new, anything would do it for me but to know we have to wait probably months to get more content is… I don’t know… just a poor decision.
I swear at this point, I would be very happy even with some new skins in the shop. there would at least be something.
Well, that’s my comment and think its time to move on to other games for a while.
Its sad that these decisions where made and hope it will get better soon.
All the best to everyone and The Emperor Protects!
