KNOWN ISSUE: Performance Issues/Audio Stuttering After Path of Redemption Update

I am not having performance issues, but I do have constant audio skipping even after applying the proposed solution.

After this newest hotfix my performance has been absolutely terrible. Like 25 fps when things get hectic kind of terrible. It’s rendering the game unplayable for me.

Sound and game stutters after last few hotfixes, they most often starts when mutants and hounds spawn.

Same here, i have always very bad performance…
I’m tired with that, no solution for all these performance problems…
I have no problems with my other games… especialy BF2042 , very good performance…

I tried the experimental version tonight. The first game I ran, my settings reset and the direct_storage stuff was removed from the config. But during that game I noticed that my hard drive would go crazy loading stuff every time a stutter occurred.

I have come accrossed a fix for me, even tho in my resolution settings it said my moniter hertz was set to 60, it was actually 30 hertz, had to select 75 then go back to 60, game worked perfect long enough to get a memory full error, which was about 6 runs. better then 30 fps after one run. Could the XeSS be effected by the monitor refresh rate? Bugging out the machine learning?

Edit: nevermind, it didnt fix it

I’ve had some success with 2 things.

Power Plan

Create Ultimate Performance Plan in windows. Then once you’re done playing Darktide. Switch back to Balanced plan.

Restore Missing Power Plans in Windows 11 Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum (elevenforum.com)

By default cores can still park, so you must use powershell to enable options. Set to 100% for the Ultimate Power Plan. (Remember once finishing playing games then set power plan back to Balanced)

powercfg -attributes 54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 -ATTRIB_HIDE

powercfg -attributes 54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318584 -ATTRIB_HIDE

2nd powershell command above is for e cores as well.

Then in Power options - UItimate Performance Plan you can now set them 100%

If don’t feel comfortable with power shell commands. Then alternative method:

Download QuickCPU. Click the full blue bars for Max Performance.

Quick CPU - Real time performance optimization and Sensor monitor (coderbag.com)

image

MUST make sure last option ticked. It then creates new windows power plan for you.

image

Now you can switch back and forth from power plans when you play games and when you are not manually.

image

See difference between Balanced/High and QuickCPU power plan. The cores don’t get parked.

You can uninstall QuickCPU afterwards and the Power Plan remains in windows.

SMT - Test first on and off

I remember reading this long ago. Strange how with 6 Core and 8 Core - Darktide does not seem to like SMT (Intel is Hyper-threading). It didn’t improve FPS at all, but it does reduce FPS variations jumping up and down. Just something to try.

Disable SMT in BIOS to test

Warhammer 40K: Darktide PC Performance Analysis & Ray Tracing Benchmarks (dsogaming.com)

Other minor things

Below are just things I do on new builds/reinstalls I keep notes for me and friends PCs.
But I thought why not as things I researched into long ago I felt valid from other website forum users and their feedback.

Don’t believe much of below would have significant impact. But I would try above Power Plan first.

1. BIOS

  • Update BIOS
  • Disable virtualization
  • Enable XMP and set RAM speed (AMD is EXPO)
  • Disable C states

2. Motherboard

  • Manufacturer website. Download/install drivers

3. Clean re-install GPU drivers using DDU app method

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.7.9 (guru3d.com)

  • Suspend Bitlocker first (If you use)
  • Download drivers beforehand, but not install yet.
  • Unplug from internet to prevent windows pulling drivers from Microsoft first
  • Boot into safe mode. Can use msconfig to enable safe mode on next reboot and use DDU to clean uninstall GPU drivers
  • Use msconfig set from safe back to normal. Reboot and install drivers you downloaded
  • Then plug back into internet.
  • Nvidia CP. Power management mode - Normal, Refresh rate highest, Texture Quality high performance, Vsync off. Darktide game profile set Power management mode - Max. Basically only set the game to max performance, as you don’t want max performance on windows desktop doing nothing.

4. Mouse and Keyboard

  • Mouse polling set to 1000hz.
  • If keyboard/mouse requires to plug into USB 3.0 instead of 2.0. Check manual
  • Mouse/keyboard. Use USB ports at back as closer to CPU.

5. Windows OS settings

  • Core isolation. Disable Memory integrity. Will be off/not shown if Virtualization already disabled in BIOS.
  • Disable Exploit Protection CFG.
  • Sound – Disable Audio enhancements and disable Spatial sound.
  • Windows graphics – Enable GPU scheduling and Optimise windowed games
  • Using MSI Mode Utility – Set GPU to high and tick enable MSI. Click Apply and reboot.
  • Windows: Line-Based vs. Message Signaled-Based Interrupts. MSI tool. | guru3D Forums
  • Windows Defender whitelist game folder

I’ll try all this. See what happens.

I made slight error. Corrected above in regards to Power plan. Do the power plan first. Don’t change anything else. See how that goes. It is most common issue I’ve come across with stuttering and FPS variances.

People assume “High Performance” prevents core parking. The hidden setting shows otherwise. Not even Ultimate Performance plan prevents core parking by default. It’s this setting below. 2nd setting only valid if have e cores.

unlocked my fps to really see the drop, starts at 87 and slowly drops until the mission is done when it 35 ish, the higher the difficulty the faster the drop. This is clearly a memory leak where enemies that are spawning in are staying in the memory after being defeated. before a lvl 4 mission in the morning star 97 fps, after 44. did another mission back to the morning star 24 fps. unbelievable this has been going on for months with no fix, wish i could go to work do nothing and not get fired.

I am currently trying this out as a solution to sudden framedrops and audio lag that seems to happen centered around Poxbursters and Trappers. I can not get the changes to stick, though. For some reason my user_settings file is missing the changes whenever I open it again after launching the game. If I open the launcher after adding the lines, they disappear. If I add them after starting the launcher, they disappear once I launch the game. Pasting it before starting a match will also get rid of the line. Am I simply mistaken, and once pasted it becomes absorbed into the essence of the game as into a machination of the Omnissiah, and its presence in the file is then no longer required?

threw a lot of aggravation and lastly tried to do a full clean install of nvidia drivers, it ran threw 1 auric damnation shock troop and held over 60 fps. had jittery fps but it did hold. I have my doughts it will last, ive had it run like this some nights.

Issue Type (Required):

Audio

Issue Description (Required):

Audio stuttering. Audio cuts out then resumes in a stutter for about a second. 5 months of this bug is making the game unplayable. Many other users have had this issue and it is identical to what they describe. Please fix this so I don’t get my ears ripped off by stuttering audio when I play your game.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

Any in mission content. If I hit more than 4 enemies with an attack, have a special spawn, have a character do a voice line, have an enemy hit me, teammate fire weapon, enemy fire weapon. Almost every single new audio track beginning causes this.

I have the exact same issues. Tried changing settings in game, changing settings in windows, all of it, and i still get audio stutters. Didn’t have this issue pre- locked and loaded so i’ve no clue what is causing it…

1.Yes, this is still happening with sound, only at the beginning, when I enter the game, whether it’s shaders or not.But it looks like them.I do not know how long I have to be, where the shops are and online. So that they are downloaded in time. When I enter a match, this sound prevents me from playing.,it’s for 10-20 minutes or half a match. And then everything is fine, the game loads quickly and is played normally.
This is how I understood the shaders for the game .You have to wait for the sound to download.

2.Bots stand and do not beat anyone or die like flies. In general, they don’t do anything. They only take damage. And they’re waiting for me to get hit.Or just take it off with a horde standing and waiting for it is not clear what.Either take them off and they fall all the time. You treat him, he falls again and so on.Bots began to fall and watch and wait, rather than run away. They just stand there and for some reason just watch TV and do nothing. And they fall from enemies again. He plays for a horde of zombies, not for teammates. He sees them as his own for some reason. The bot sees its zombie friends.

M’yeah, this sounds like the issue I have.
When I first boot up the game every day, the game will stutter in audio and lag more than usual until I’ve played one mission. Sometimes the issue is solved halfway through that first mission but I’ve had times where the stutters and lag persist until the first mission is done.

Then everything just works fine until I restart my computer once more…

For the love of god fatshark please fix this I want to play so bad, but this is so intrusive. I’ve tried everything suggested in the thread and more but nothing fixes this and it just makes the game unplayable.

Issue Type (Required):

Audio

Issue Description (Required):

The audio keeps getting cut out while playing a mission.
The problem started about half a year ago and got even worse with the unlocked & loaded update to a point where the game becomes unplayable.
The problem happens in every mission now for the whole mission.
The game freezes occasionally and it seems somehow to be connected with the audio issue.

Are PC players who use XBOX just being hung out to dry? WHAT THE HELL??? I don’t have access to this “experimental build” (because it’s steam only) and I have the exact same issues a lot of the steam players have, audio cutting out, then followed by stutters where enemies won’t move/really bad desync and then finally crashing. Why are XBOX PC players being left to rot?

Purchased the game last week, it was really good, but bad at performance (better than playtest)
So I faced after a game, fps starts to drop, when in lobby will lag, in-game also and etc…
If you guys can, pls release a major update for optimal performance first
If a game has good optimization, more players come in.
