KNOWN ISSUE: Audio Issues After 1.6.1

The release of 1.6.1 has introduced some unintended issues that result in audio stuttering or distortion, sometimes accompanied by a Deadlock crash.

i recorded the audio bug in question and posted it here, this is my first time making a bug report so iā€™m not sure if there is a better way to do it Watch sound bug | Streamable i already disabled all mods, verified files before and after doing so and restarted the game, i also checked my audio drivers but they were all up to date, this mission ended in my game crashing near the end. here is the crash log i got after it: crashify://cf975907-1af9-44ef-b6e2-6e9d92d23a0d

not sure, it seems to be whenever specials spawn? but its just constant throughout the map from start to finish, also happens on any map.

Yes, and Iā€™ve tried disabling them

I have this issue also since the lastest update. Every map and on every run the game sounds like this at a certain point and then never stops. I use audio cues religiously in this game. More so than I think any other game. So this breaks Darktide for me completely.

I can confirm I also have the same sound issues linked starting from today. Iā€™ve verified my files through the fatshark launcher, restarted my pc and still encounter the same audio bug in missions.

The odd part is that when playing yesterday for an extended period I encountered no such issues.

Yeh came here to see if I was alone with this issue. Started today post update. Distored sound/ glitching sound and then no sound . Def makes the game harder- maybe it could be a new havoc modifier :rofl:

Yes, I have also encountered this problem. The audio lag is very severe
The game will crash and return to the desktop
This kind of thing keeps happening

Tried again on the radar/ sky map. Huge sections of static audio or just nothing. Wasnā€™t affecting my friend on ps5. Iā€™m on pc. Obviously completely unplayable at the moment,

Hi all, weā€™ve identified some issues relating to audio. For those of you on PC - could you try switching to our experimental build using the instructions here, and see if thereā€™s any improvement please?:

Audio stuttering can be alleviated by changing the speakers to headphones and reducing the mix to low (some people also say that high mix can solve this problem)

also i went into my audio device settings and changed the Hz to higher quality on the reccomendation of a dude on discord called Max Biker, it seems to have worked, hope other people see this and try it

the experimental build did not work, exact same issue, however changing the audio to headphones + high range worked for me

When itā€™s patched Will this fix across all platforms? Im on Xbox and this really sucks glad you guys are aware tho was hoping I wasnā€™t the only one as of right now I canā€™t play at all since a poxburster makes it sound like Megatrons having a heart attack

Iā€™ve been experiencing this audio bug since the new patch as well. Experimental didnā€™t fix it, and unfortunately, changing the Hz to a higher quality didnā€™t help either. Iā€™m not sure if it happens on every map, but as far as I can tell, itā€™s particularly noticeable in Archivum Sycorax, especially after crossing the bridge (mid-map). It always causes my game to crash unless I turn off my wireless headphones. (Thank the Emperor that a ā€˜no soundā€™ condition isnā€™t a thing yet!)

Happened to me on the Experimental build too. Right now the game is literally unplayable for me.

Tried the Experimental build. Never made changes to the config. No mods installed.

No effect whatsoever. Audio is still broken. This makes the game borderline unplayable, since I already suffer from frequent migraines and really donā€™t need more.

Experimental didnā€™t fix it for me either. Never made changes to config (the direct storage block is empty for me). Itā€™s possible Experimental made the issue slightly better, but by far not enough. Essentially unplayable.

Audio device type and mix setting doesnā€™t seem to make a difference for me. (I only tried changing these while the horrible stuttering was happening. I donā€™t know if I should expect an immediate change, but there was no immediate change.)

EDIT: I played a game after turning off Dolby Atmos. No sound glitch.

someone posted it on reddit, holy hell - started happening during a havoc mission. it crashed me 4 times on archivum sycorax.

Iā€™ve always had weird audio issues in the area where you descend after the bridgeā€¦ it was those audio issues multiplied by 4000
