We wanted to share a message saying we’re aware of audio issues being present since 1.6.0 and 1.6.1. After further investigation we’ve identified that these are two distinct issues. They are predominantly apparent on XBOX, but they also may affect other platforms.
Audio Crackles since Hotfix #54 (1.6.1). The temporary fix is to go Speaker Setting and change the auto-detect setting to any other option. We have a potential fix for this issue coming for Hotfix #55 (1.6.2). For more information, please see: KNOWN ISSUE: Audio Issues After 1.6.1
Game Stutters / Freezes. We’ve seen an increase in some stuttering and freezing issues in the game since the last hotfix. We’re exploring potential fixes, including one in our experimental branch on Steam. We appreciate the players lending us a hand in the experimental branch, since it’s been hard to identify the root cause of this issue. You can find instructions on how to access it on the forums. If you’re experiencing this issue and you’d like to report it, please leave a comment on the existing thread so we can track this properly.
We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. As soon as we’re able to validate a fix, we’ll push it out to the players on all platforms. Thank you for your patience and your help.
Thank you fatshark! I’ve been using the experimental option ever since a mod asked us to try it as a fix and it’s been working. I feel like when the audio starts to go the game also begins to freeze to the point of crashing as well. I play on STEAM so it’s definitely affecting other platforms besides XBOX
I’d like to mention that I hear voicelines being cut off as well, which didn’t happen before this update. The sound priority system also works a little TOO well - if you’re playing a Maelstrom with waves of poxbursters and a wave spawns, you basically only hear the ticking and nothing else.
Yeah gonna say for the xbox players the game is totally unplayable atm. I couldn’t even get one round out of my friends earlier because it was constant crashing and sound errors for them. And for whatever reason whenever they’d be experiencing the warp screaming in their head my performance would tank too and I’m on PC. Somebody karked up big time. Havoc mode isn’t worth this, please rollback the Thursday fix.
Had issues where my player character would become uncontrollable, as in the game stuttered in its connection and then it would act like controller was “dead battery” or act like it was in some stick drift + lag + siezuring bot it was so sudden multiple times I had no time to catch on screen record without dying
I having a weird issue when if I start Darktide, then my mic stops working in-game and also on Discord. I have to restart the game few times, and play around with changing the default audio device to get it to work. I have never had this issue before, my headphones and sound card are fine.
I really hope Fatshark will use it to focus more on audio issues in general. Getting trapped or pounced by a hound you hear when its half way flying at your throat is basically another Darktide Saturday experience. These issues are so common people have created visual mods to visualise the missing audio cues.
Big issues with this on Xbox series x, missions are almost unplayable. Major audio issues start the deeper you get in a mission followed by a frozen screen and the only option of quitting the game and re logging in, only to get back in and have to wait to be rescued.
I haven’t even risked Havoc mode as a result
Changing the audio setting off of auto detect does provide a much more stable experience, settings tried was Dolby 5.1.
Thank you! My buddies on Xbox love this game but every 30 mins without a crash they update the group that their audio is stuttering/annoying. Hope this gets fixed!
