After the update, when I try to log in, I get error code 4008, another day in a row, it doesn’t matter what time or time of day, whether I’m using cable or WiFi, I even tried to connect via modem on my phone, nothing helps.
Issue Description
Primarily Error 4008, but also seemingly randomly 9999, 2001, and 2006.
Each happen sometimes after selecting an operative, loading into a match, while mid match etc.
Even after slogging through error codes I have massive ping issues with no hitmakers and enemies glitching all over the place.
I am certain it is not an internet issue my end, I have a good constant connection of around 8-10MB/s down and 4-5MB/s up. No issue in other titles or websites and my friend has none of these issues while playing and they live pretty nearby so its not regional.
Soft resets/Hard resets/Re-installation/Disabling Firewall/Disabling Antivirus/Running as Admin/deleting %appdata% files/Verify on steam/SystemFileChecker/Etc.
All these I have attempted already to no avail. I have had the game about a week and until three days ago had absolutely 0 issues ever. Please help I am dying to go kill things >:(
Issue Description: Random Error 4008 errors during gameplay
Crash Report: (If Applicable): N/A as not a crashing error.
Steps to reproduce:
1.) Load Zealot (Preacher)
2.) Random amount of time and/or action happens
3.) Error sound occurs
4.) Few seconds layer, back at character select with Error Code 4008
Platform: Steam
I really wished this worked for me but I came to the swift realisation this is exactly how I had my DNS set up anyway. Going to try see if default settings work better or worse.
want my money, but I paid it to buy the game. I haven’t been able to play it for about a month and a week now because of the code 4008 problem, and you don’t respond to this site. Thank you.
I found that other players can artificially control other players error 4008
He said bye to me at the end of a game, and then I got ERROR 4008
Any clues here?
Issue Description:
I have moved for holidays, and as such, do not use the same network as usual. I used at my home to play the game allright, no real problem. However, upon using my phone, I can join the game allright, interact with the Mourningstar, but whenever I try to join a strike team, at the moment of joining I get hit by an Error 4008.
While at home I use a traditional router with a box, here it is not possible, and decided to move to use the 5G of my phone, which has a decent download rate (rougly 10 Mbps of download for 4 Mbps of upload). I am pretty sure the failed handshake error happen because my game or the server refuse to create the link because of my network type.
Steps to Reproduce:
Just try to use a phone-based 5G network I guess?

Attempted at both 11 am and 11pm. CEST
When checking the logs, I notice I get a lot of inconsistent responses from the servers. AWS seems to be connecting after a brute force method when receiving a handshake request, but for whatever reason, it will drop it at random, at a random time it chooses (but usually when hordes flood fill your match or you load into a map and it populates the assets).
This is on Wi-fi over 5g/4g, Wired over 5g/4g, Wi-Fi via Fiber broadband, Wired fiber broadband.
In some cases with the logging, I’m getting 502 Bad Gateway responses when the TCP handshake initiation is attempted. I’m unsure why, but this is usually Character select screen > Morning star.
After brute forcing many times, you can get a connection to load into the ship. Should I manage to get into the lobby, it can be stable for a time. But once the director starts throwing heavy hordes, or god forbid you enter the end part of the smelter mission, it seems the server starts chucking 9999, 4008, and all sorts of server connectivity issues at you.
Any fix in performance from DNS flushing, forcing 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 DNS forwarders, or any other Network troubleshooting doesn’t seem to resolve the issue as the data is reaching the AWS infrastructure, but it seems the stability of the communications is getting disrupted by something.
I’m still, for no flipping reason, getting the Error Code: 4008… I want to play the game I paid money for, instead it’s just sitting there on my desktop collecting digital dust. I’ve verified the files multiple times and uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice and it’s still not working.
Cool, got on for the first time in about a month and immediately got 4008. Uninstalled.
I will likely not buy this game because of it’s inconsistency in being able to actually play. I could care less about the bugs WHILE being able to play, I just want to be ABLE to play.
I get it, it’s a fresh game, maybe it’s Microsoft’s fault, I don’t really care don’t have a game release on a specific launcher and advertise it on said launcher if it doesn’t work. Take it off game pass and Microsoft store.
“If you’re so upset and don’t like it don’t play…”
I do like the game, I think it’s great, when it actually works.
