Backend Error Signing In - Authentication queue join request failed

Issue Description:
Starting today (November 27 2023), I have been unable to progress past the initial splash screen (“Processing Inquisitorial Clearance”). I have played nearly every day the last week at roughly the same time of day (at night, PST). The game will either state “Backend Error - Error Signing In” or it will keep loading indefinitely while “Processing Inquisitorial Clearance”. Then, I exit the game using Alt+F4, which I know is not ideal, but there is no other way to close the game when it hangs.

To troubleshoot, I have disabled both my Windows Defender Firewall as well as the Firewall associated with my modem/router. The same issue occurred. This should not be the issue anyways, since I have played this game for the entire last week without this issue.

I have verified the integrity of the game files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and am still encountering the same issues. I will note that I normally play with some mods, including the DTAuth mod and LogMeIn, but the issue still occurs even if I disable the mods.

The following is the main issue I am seeing in the console logs, hopefully this makes it easier to diagnose:

There’s references to the Weapon Customisation mod in the error data. Could you try disabling it?

The logs I have posted previously contain both attempts where mods are enabled, and attempts where mods are disabled. I understand that mods probably have some connection to the issues I am experiencing, but unfortunately disabling the mods and even reinstalling the game have not worked.

I have just tried again, this time uninstalling the game via Steam, then manually deleting all the residual files in steamapps/common, and then reinstalling. The same issue occurs. On certain attempts, I will receive a red message on the side of the screen that goes “The response from the Fatshark servers seems to be slow; gameplay may be affected. Please check your network connection”. I have 500Mbps download/upload, so I doubt that’s the issue either.

Let me know if there are any other files I need to delete to guarantee an absolutely clean installation. Again, I have tried disabling firewalls as well, and this issue was not occurring prior to yesterday so I can’t imagine the firewalls are the cause of the issue regardless. I’ll also note that on at least a few occasions even before this issue started occurring, I have seen “Position in Queue 1” or “2”. I don’t know if this is significant information but it’s another detail about the failure to join queue issue.

One more note/reminder: I am using darkti.de and the DTAuth mod to purchase items from the Armoury while not in game. This still works even with these connection issues I am experiencing. Is this mod potentially the cause of the issue? Does it make a connection to the Fatshark servers and therefore cause issues when I try to make a real connection?

I have just installed the game on another computer (a laptop), and it has still encountered the same Backend Error so I can definitively confirm it has nothing to do with my game files, but rather Fatshark’s server, my network, or my account itself. I will attempt to use a VPN to see if that resolves the issue.

Edit: Using a VPN to change my IP address has fixed the issue (insofar as I can log in and play, but having to play on a VPN is still far from ideal and should not be necessary). So my conclusion is that Fatshark’s server simply started refusing connections coming from my original IP. I am very curious as to why that is happening, and I hope your networking engineers can review your servers’ authentication systems to make sure that regular users aren’t being locked out for no apparent reason.
