Experimental Version does not work for me. Flipped between every configuration of VPN on/off, Google 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 DNS, unused network adapters on/off, no change. Game still reports ā€œBackend Errorā€, ā€œError signing inā€

NOTE: The experimental branch in Steam has been updated to include logging for other issues. The experimental branch now includes:

  • POTENTIAL Backend Error FIX. We understand this hasnā€™t worked for everybody, and are continuing to investigate
  • Additional logging for internal_error (Error Code: 2007)
  • Additional logging for nonexisting_channel (Error Code: 2001)
  • Additional logging for various GPU-related crashes, AND A POTENTIAL FIX!

Please note that the additional logging supports our investigation and will not necessarily solve the underlying issue for you at this time. We encourage anybody with these issues to use this branch, so we can continue work on addressing these issues as quickly as possible.

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Right-click Darktide in your Steam library
  3. Select ā€˜Propertiesā€™
  4. Select ā€˜Betasā€™
  5. Enter the password cTYPtKTsfMDsLHAV
  6. Select ā€˜Check Codeā€™
  7. Select the ā€˜Noneā€™ dropdown, and experimental - Experimental Builds should now be within the list
  8. Select experimental - Experimental Builds
  9. Close the pop-up window
  10. A 1.8GB download should now start
  11. Play!
  12. Post here to let us know the outcome

An update. Was able to make an Ogryn character and play through the tutorial so hopefully fixed? Fingers crossed that Iā€™ll be able to play as a Veteran at some point.

Still experiencing Backend Error and have non-alphabetical characters, including spaces, in your characterā€™s name? Try without!

Hyphens are OK.

Guys attention. @FatsharkJulia. Sorry for my English. I have a tp-link C5 modem, when connecting directly to WIFI all week error 2007. Today I did not connect directly, but set up my Iphon in modem mode, and connected through it. And everything worked, there is no more error.

Have had quite a few backend error messages when trying to log inā€¦ Just tried to log in, first attempt still resulted in a backend error, but second attempt I got in. None of my characters have anything but alphabetical characters in their names

I fix my backend error by launching darktide from the play button in steam instead of launching it from my windows shortcut.
Doesnā€™t make sense to me but still sharing the info just in case it help someone !

I confirm the experimental build fixes the issue for me without having to change my DNS. (Or use a VPN service.)

The issue for me appears to be DNS related. I changed over to Cloudflare and Darktide suddenly allowed me to log in. This is unacceptable so I changed it back to my previous DNS server and downloaded the Experimental build. Now I can log in to the game.

Was able to fix my 1001 code issue by restarting my computer, while on the latest experimental build.

Iā€™m still getting the backend error issue even after trying:

  • Connecting to VPN
  • Changing DNS to Cloudflareā€™s or Googleā€™s
  • Disabling AV/Firewall
  • Installed experimental branch
  • Reinstalled the game
  • Installed Amazonā€™s Root CAs (as I saw a line about SSL error in the game logs)
  • Updated curl to the latest version (as I noticed a failed call to api.epicgames.dev in the game logs)

I have attached a log file to this post. Line 170 could be of help (see below).
