With the recent chain weapon improvements and the Chainsword buffs specifically, the Eviscerator feels somewhat better, but still kind of just like a slightly bigger Chainsword with some of the single target potential of the Chainaxe.
There have been multiple topics about the size of the Eviscerator, which absolutely should be increased (please refer to the weapon’s size in every other depiction of it:)
BUT, we should also be talking about gameplay with its visual design. That means:
Increasing the range of attacks
Decreasing swing speed
Adjust damage to keep DPS about the same, but maybe increase cleave a bit?
The Eviscerator should feel hefty and somewhat unwieldy to use, it’s one of the largest human-use melee weapons in the fiction. The Chainsword improvements have gone a long way to making it feel speedy, flexible, and practically a buzzsaw with the right builds. Let’s finally go in the opposite direction for its (much larger) counterpart. It doesn’t need to be a super meta weapon or anything, but getting the gamefeel right with it will make it feel more unique alongside the other chain weapons.
I’m all for adding a new slower, physically-longer variant of the Eviserator, but for the love of the God-Emperor, please do not reduce the swing speed of the current ones.
I’ve always loved the Eviscerators in game, warts and all, but the things are demonically sluggish without stacking +%Attack Speed already; Kneecapping their base swing speed is one of the last things they need.
I made a new Zealot yesterday and picked one up when I unlocked it at Level 11/12 and my lord, using them without a Keystone feels like when you try to punch something in a dream
I think you should be able to press special during an attack that latches with the saw to gain the rev damage bonuses. I think Eviscerator is very usable though, chainsword is the one that’s bunk.
Hey, I’m all for making it stronger! If they did make it bigger and slower, I would only want that if it was justified with higher cleave/damage so you’re not losing out on horde clear. I don’t think it feels very much like a “Heavy” Eviscerator at present. I’m just not trying to purposefully make something OP because it’s my favorite weapon etc
As far as I know, the best Evis build is a martyrdom build, but the three dodge limitation already makes that a really difficult way to play right now.
I’m with SymboJones, I’d be down for a new big ass mark designed from the ground up for the current game than make the current ones even slower.
That’s how the zealot class is. I used to wonder why bloodletter was only 6 stacks, but with 3 blood related talents, guaranteed crits, bloodthirsty and/or perfect strike, you can do a lot of cool things with evis.
For my part I’m curious about removing lengthy activation mechanics — “self-stun” — from the game and replace it with a fluid charge system you can combo with a la Arbites Shock Maul
I’m more talking about the combo chain buff that Chainswords got, they’re able to chain their single target overhead Heavy-Light strikdowns now with the correct combo.
Plus for some reason Mk3’s Heavy Strikedown (H2) still does less damage than it’s Heavy Vanguard (H1) attack.
I’m all for this. One of the things I’ve wanted for a long time now is (if not in the base moveset), let Rev It Up grant the ability to cancel attacks into activation/rev, which would make it way more fluid, flexible, and really shake up your playstyle if you took it. It wouldn’t have to be a giant amount of frames to cancel, maybe just the last 10% or so, but it would really transform how you could use chain weapons without just slapping on extra damage/cleave etc
I’d love to see Chain weapons have their special replaced, and have a revv meter system.
Certain attacks increasing the resulting revv, other consuming them to deal extra damage (but causing sticking on uncleaved targets). With the special attack being dependent on how much revv you currently have, with either a stunning attack/bash, or an attack that take all the revvs for massive damage
What we have currently in Darktide are not real eviscerators but some random 2-handed chainsword, real eviscerators are humongous and have a weak power field making them both a chain and power weapon.
