Petition to rename Eviscerator to Heavy Chainsword

The Tigrus MKII Heavy Eviscerator is improperly sized. It doesn’t have the right VFX and SFX. It sounds pretty good, aside from the paddle lights and maybe better audio mixing on heavy attacks. It also hits too weakly to really scream “eviscerator” let alone HEAVY eviscerator. I hereby petition to change the name of this weapon to reflect its true nature. Heavy Chainsword.

In lore and in my 5th Ed rulebook he Heavy Chainsword is a 2 handed chainsword.
The Eviscerator is an even bigger even more cool and rediculous Chainsword with a low quality powerfield over the blades.

OBSERVE THE NOTABLE DIFFERENCE

The Heavy Chainsword can remain as it is, it merely needs renaming. Well it still needs buffs but different ones if its not an Eviscerator. Fatshark will need to add a Eviscerator to the game. Such an absurd weapon must be bigger and hit harder and swing slower.

The current Tigrus MKII Heavy Eviscerator should be renamed Tigrus MKII Heavy Chainsword

A new Eviscerator should be added that more closely matches the lore and models.

I’m not holding out any hope for a name change, however I would love a more classic Eviscerator that swings slow but mows down everything in front of it. Probably our best hope for that is unfortunately a second variant.

While I know lots of people have posted art of them, I’m going to put some of the most recent official GW models with Eviscerators/2 Handed Chainsword here to emphasize the point.

First is the new Sister Repentia models which I think would be perfect to base a new variant on. They’re not as thick as some of the older depictions, but are still long enough to look usable but unwieldy for standard humans.

Next is a Khornate Jakhal with a Mauler Chainblade. Not technically an Eviscerator but I wanted to include it because it’s a very chunky 2 handed chain weapon, and older preacher models use a similar type of grip on their Eviscerators.

Last one probably isn’t perfectly applicable, but I still wanted to include a Khornate Bezerker with Eviscerator to showcase how gargantuan they can really be. While a different pattern for Space Marine use, the blade is still massive and about 3/4s the size of the Bezerker.

You could include older models such as Gabriel Seth but I only wanted to focus on the most recent models.

Have to say I like the long models better than the thick ones. Still the ones we have in the game aren’t that big.

I’m open to something a bit more refined looking than the original giant paddles. Heroic scale was always a bit silly. But what we have now really does seem more like the Heavy Chainsword rather than the Eviscerator. Plus it would create a kind of cool gameplay balance paradigm.

Chainsword is fast and usable.
Heavy chainsword is usable but less so.
Eviscerator is slow as molassis but cuts through enemies like butter. I’m imagining day 1 powersword swings that had that infinite cleave. But the swing speed would be stupid slow and hard to get a block up. You’re committed if you swing this thing.

They should up the Evis’ cleave value (should have around 12-18 on heavy 1) and add an effect to heavy strikes and make it at least about head worth longer. The current one isn’t even as tall as the character who wields it… Heresy!

BTW I actually like the current heaviness of the two-handed chain sword and the speed of the strikes. Totally a berserk weapon. It just falls very short power-wise.

I might not be that big of a lore guy myself, but the ingame eviscerator does indeed kinda look like a toothpick compared to a properly sized one.

I’m just arguing that we could easily call it a heavy sword, maybe up its damage a bit and give it some better blessings and call it A-OK. Then we make the eviscerator the real lunatic weapon with the right size and everything.

They keep telling me size doesn’t matter but the heretics don’t seem to agree.

I would love to see the OG munitorum priest eviscerator that looks more like a diesel powered chainsaw and less like a sword.

I’m most partial to OG repentia but i like the new repentia eviscerators a bit more than the planks they used to be.

Even the chainsword is the wrong size. We have a short chainblade or something.

I mean chain machete is cool. Perhaps we will receive a new, properly girthy and appropriately lengthy that does actual damage at some point. I’d be pleased with more chain weapons.

While i agree that 1h chainsword looks more like chain knife, and evi is more like chainsword, that 2 pic is an exaggeration. Animations for such rail will be silly and totally unrealistic probably, i don’t think it is possible to swing such big thing without spinning around 360 cause of inertia, you need to stop weapon mid-swing and redirect it, with such mass and length it is impossible, so it will be Diablo barb whirlwind style.

I would refer you to three points in contention with your claim:

  1. Cannon lore and model art posted above (i can find more)
  2. Lore and crunch rules from dark heresy and tabletop that indicate exactly that kind of problem
  3. Plasteel. Its not talked about much but its as strong as steel and as light as plastic but no one talks about volume. Might explain why all imperial gear looks so chunky.

Admittedly i’m more in favor of a slightly less absurd width for the weapon than what i mustered in 9000 hours in MSpaint. Something with good proportions. But it should be huge. Even…HEUG

On minis it looks good, on arts it’s just stylization (looks silly)

Well ther are planty problems that possibly could be with changing weapon size drastically:

  1. Weapon range, it should be balanced
  2. T H I C C model will reduce visibility on your screen
  3. push/block animation for such huge thing
  4. Too long model probably will go through ceiling, doorway etc. textures in some places

Imo both 1h chainsword and evi should be ~15-20% longer

Deal with it. Shields exist as it is in Tide games.

Like lifting a 1970s home sound system subwoofer and swinging it at your foe

Ogryn is already sufficiently tall to avoid such clearance issues. But i can, as it is, swing through closed doors in lolphysicstide. So the occasional clipping of a weapon In especially tight coordors can be lived with IMO.

man, chill. warhammer weapons have always been our of proportion, this is just them putting them in line for the game engine.

I’m just looking for something at least as long as a character is tall. I don’t think it’s an engine limitation to have.

VT2 Executioner sword for reference:

Lots of weapons are tiny but its very apparent when you get to the chainswords. The Eviscerator because its supposed to be massive but the chainsword is like a dinky turkey cutter. Too bad remodeling it would mean adding teeth and more rig points and a bunch more work than just making it bigger.

Now that’s powerfully in favor of my proposal. Vt2 even had proper length psuedo equivalents.
