Given the 'rewards' of the skulls 'event': How out of touch are the devs?

Thats a pretty good point. Maybe more of an effort to entice new people? Just because of the season of skulls I would expect at least a small influx of new people.

I wish that were true, but pretty much every game today offers a bounty to new players like a small amount of premium time/currency.

Even off the back of the online event, many players will encounter the lukewarm reviews of the game and possibly think twice about buying it. I’d love it if you were correct, but any ‘influx’ will be very small given the niche nature of the game.

Let’s hope I’m wrong!

Most games that do this requre that same premium time/currency to enjoy the game to its fullest or to bypass some insane grind.

I still think DT should allow premium currency to be earned in-game.

People buy premium sh!t instead of the free/docket skins to not only feel cool, but to feel special. N c’mon, the free/docket sh!t compared to premium is doo doo stank, for good reason.

A 50-100 Aquila earn rate per mission completed would be low enough to encourage ‘grind’ but high enough to feel ‘special’.

Judging by how other games set the bar quite low, I rekon they could even put it at 30-50aq per game and people would still grind it. It would mean 30-60 games for a premium cosmetic set (its 1800 for many? I cant remember the exact price and its late so Im not booting up just to check )

Lets be realistic tho, if they did it would be like, 5-10aq per game. It would still increase goodwill and people would be inclined to either buy singles or save up over time for a set.

At this point I would take anything. Until they sort the shop Im not giving them any money. I think the prices are way too high as well.

Excuse me sir.

What?

So you’re waiting until you can earn aquilas in game before you give them money?

Since people keep using AH/HD2, we should follow their measurements. How much is it per mission to get Super Credits?

AFAIK you can get anywhere from 10-50 SC on any given mission, given a wide range of factors. Missions also vary a lot in time commitment. Usually the SC drops are on the ones that are about 20-30 missions.

So we get a (very) rough average of, let’s call it 40-60 SC an hour.

Most available cosmetic sets range from ~300 to ~600 SC. Call it ten hours of play for a single outfit.

Given how expensive penance cosmetics are, a more direct comparison of play->cosmetics would be a drop rate of 150-250 Aquilas per mission.

Maybe. If they made them earnable or bypassed them completely (I hate premium currency unless its earnable) and also lowered prices to something more reasonable + added a vast amount of cosmetics to the free store + stopped selling bad re-colours as premium etc

I honestly dont see any of this happening, so Iv settled on never buying anything cosmetic from the Darktide or V2 shop ever.

I supported V2 by buying DLCs and I dont regert buying them. I would likely buy extra content for DT too.

Im honestly shocked at how quickly you can earn SC in HD2. It was literally one of my fave things about the game.

This is something most modern day devs monetizing their games don’t really understand. It also doesn’t help the fact that the western and asian/chinese market treat MTX very very differently.

From what I experience western players prefere to spend money on something that sucks them in and makes the grind enjoyable. If I enjoy the gameplay and dump hundreds of hours into it I’m more inclined to reward the devs with MTX purchase.

Whereas in the chinese/korean market the gameplay is essentially built around the grind, and money is spent on skipping/minimizing it as much as possible.

Sloptide seems to be following a hybrid model, like many companies Tencent has invested it.

To this day I continue to be amazed that TF2 manages to have both more content and a significantly more active community after not receiving a major update in seven years.

Seven years.

To be fair it isn’t exactly a challenge to beat a Fatshark game’s active community. They’re experts on destroying their active player count.

I believe they don’t understand the concept of ‘momentum’. As seen by the drop after the class overhaul.

Fatshark is just a tax sink, they have no intentions to make a good game. That’s the only logical assumption left.

Some of the stuff people say on this forum blows my mind, this is one of those times!

DT and V2 ARE good games, nay… great games!
…with serious issues and bugs and management problems but not worse than Iv seen with far less deserving games past and present.

I love this game! I just wish the company developing it wasn’t so incompetent!
