Okay, let’s be real, TF2 is mostly botted item farmers in terms of playercount and the devs are limited to minor bugfixes and implementing stuff made by the community…but the estimates for non-bot activity are iirc around 20k people, more than three times what Darktide is pulling currently iirc.

I’ve never had a point until this game where I want to say ‘I love what you made so much that I want someone else to take it from you’ to a company, because most companies can develop something good competently.

Fatshark is this bizarre mix of genius and passion combined with stupefying idiocy.

FS can’t even do that, if we look at the weekly cosmetic ‘bug’ fixes and lack of qol mod integration. It’s so absurd that it’s laughable at this point.

Considering that Valve’s dev-resources on TF2 consist of like two guys max…they actually have a fairly comparable rate of development to Fatshark’s release of actual bug fixes.

Yes, the game that hasn’t been updated in seven years has a roughly equivalent development pipeline to the Fatshark game with ‘two floors dedicated to its team’ and ‘the largest team of our ongoing projects’, to paraphrase @Exanimia.

So either that was a lie, the largest team was only during active development and they all went back to VT2, they’re counting the cosmetic outsourcing in their headcount, or all those people aren’t actually doing anything beyond attending meetings.

Oh Iv had that with many games. Many many. Some I still play and they finally started to sort some of the problems I personally had. Some games just died!

That assumes the statement I said was a lie. It’s not. I get your goal is to be contradictory, but the fact is I’ve seen the team size; you haven’t.

I’d have liked a nice retexture of the zealot’s skull mask, but cast in actual bone for all the littuns. Guess a larger one for ogryn.

Man I wish I was employed in a swedish company. I could get employed as a CM or dev at Fatshark for Darktide then do nothing because unfortunately there is nothing to report and company structures prevent me from doing what I was employed to do. I could play video games on the company computer or something.
Could have a LAN party or something since there’s like 50 people in the exact same circumstance. Then I could go over to the (five total or so) VT2 devs and laugh at them with a beer in my hand because they actually do have work to do

Well, in that time, solo mode was planned. Priorities changed. Which sucks for both comms people, devs, and players; but as I said before, CMs comm the information they are given, and unfortunately they are in the line of fire when that changes and you say it changes. Joys of being comms people.

Not sure why you’re calling me out for talking about team size, though.

Funny. Normally when that happens it’s accommodated by some form of update or comment. Here it was simply silenced away and took people asking for almost two years to finally get a definitive no in a reddit post or discord comment of all places.

Words are convenient for sure.

They actually gave out a statement on solo mode? Where was this?

Pretty sure Catfish commed it somewhere, but not sure where. Someone who frequented forums around then would know better than me.

I think the problem in cases where a very highly requested feature get put on hold is exactly the lack of clear communication. Something like this would probably worth writing a whole separate blog post with “we are sorry, but it’s on hold indefinitely” with some reasoning behind it, or when the developers run into some problems communicating that it’s release window shifted farther etc…

People were getting the info that it’s close to completion back from beta, so it’s no wonder people made huge fuss about it.

Yeah, I can agree with that 100%; 1:1 comms interactions can be great to show active engagement, but finding the information can be pretty tough later on down the line.

It really is a bit of a problem. Both you and Catfish have intimated that priorities shifted, gears were changed, and reading between the lines of some things Catfish said, it sounded like plans were dramatically altered. This is just from comments, not from any dev blog or community bulletin.

If you (FS being the you here) have said things are coming, X is planned, followed by Y, and then Z and so on… but then you throw all of it away and make completely new, different plans… and then don’t tell anyone? That’s insane.

Heck, there’s people still waiting for a new class every quarter, a new map every quarter, the solo mode, live seasonal events etc etc.

Yeah, I agree the lack of larger notification is an issue in the environment that Darktide’s sentiment is (not saying this is Catfish’s fault either; I know she works really hard behind the scenes!); I’m not sure if there is a good solve at this point to be honest, because Fatshark gets shot either way in that case. I guess if I had a solve is to release the negative news with a positive release; but I know that’s not a popular tactic…

Ah unfortunate, I’ve seen the first part where she said she has no news to share but never the update that said it’s on the backburner now. Guess bot overhaul isn’t coming either then. Better to get closure years later than not at all I guess

The vet commissary sets are easily the best out of the 4. Psyker has some decent options on the higher tier of the commissary, but personally I hate the one you posted.
