Game Too Easy

I am not against an additional difficulty. I just suggested that myself.
I am against nerfing things because <1% of the player base say that the game is too easy.

Ya’ll complaining about the current difficulty need to, unironically, just go play Veteran until the inevitable nerfs start rolling in for Ogryn, Psyker, and Zealot. Plenty of challenge in playing sudden death mode as sharpshooter, or commando vet if you really want to challenge yourself.

Isn’t there anything that a group of four highly motivated players can do to make the game harder for themselves with the current state of the game?

Wait, that would qualify as a control group and be the best way to guage difficulty since it rules out the chaos of PUGs

When something like ~90% of the players almost exclusively experience pugs, why would you gauge difficulty based on full premade groups from the top few % of players?

A player not pulling their weight or purposely inting is going to inflate the difficulty every time. But even a group with a mild case of no-comms coordination is still going to have a more difficult time

Found 'em, they’re hanging out in Auric.

Yeah…
I quite frequently see some of them deploy medipacks, while in los to a med station.
Or walking past a med station, when on their last wound.
Or deploying a medpack when fighting a beast of nurgle.
Or deploying a medpack in front of an elevator/doorway, instead of at least placing it inside.
Or running 3 wound curios on ogryn and then deploying a med pack to heal just themselves for 20% hp while all 6 wounds are still fresh.
Or not using their long range gun to shoot at the enemy sniper that has been tagged for them, because standing around, or shooting an infantry lasgun at a horde is apparently much more useful.
Or pulling (but not clearing) a ton of ambient enemies while a horde is active.
Or still not knowing that you can actually push poxbursters.

That is their level of map knowledge and general awareness.

Stop, you’re listing all my peeves, in order too apparently. I started collecting pics/vids of medpacks deployed by med stations, that may be my #1 and it happened 30 mins ago on auric. Sigh…

A lot of new old players coming back looks like, the ones that quit shortly after launch judging by their overlevels. Instead of getting re-acclimated on normal they’re jumping into straight into Auric and it shows. I had 4 such chaotic runs in a row, ouchie.

they’re bound to do a nerf and rebalance

Well yeah, but most devs (including FS) tend to be heavy handed with both, Super-buff 1 patch, mega-nerfs the next.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a reasonable balancing pass without extremes.

Yeah. This is ridiculous. My voidstrike Staff is OHKing damnation ragers. One shot to the head knocks a Crusher down and deals more than half their damage. It’s dealing about twice as much damage as brain burst and I’m specced all the way down the brain burst tree.

This feels terrible. It feels like a totally different game.

I think this comes down to there being a few build combos that managed to turn out absolutely ludicrous while many other builds are literally just good but not at all absurd. I play with a gaggle of folks and depending on what we run we can careen from easy wins to absolute slogs. Enemies actually feel pretty good in my view but i feel like certain weapons are just mulching crushers now in ways that feel kinda bad. Overall jury is still out for me.

I think I might know why you would think you are the top 1% but at the same time the game isn’t easy; Assuming you are playing Veteran on EU servers it’s possible I’ve seen you playing Shredder Vet.

In other words, if you’ve been playing busted weapons that enable you to always hit the high scores I can understand why you’d think you are the 1%
In patch 12 there were a handful of setups that would allow a good player to outperform everyone else (when it comes to scoreboards), here are a few examples:

  • Shredder Veteran
  • Bolter Veteran
  • Helbore Veteran (requires a lil bit higher skillcap)
  • Bull Butcher Mk III ogryn with Ripper Gun
  • Purgatus Psyker (who knows how to manage stacks and time combat ability)

That said, I have no doubt you are a good player but it explains a lot about your “i’m top 1% but game isn’t easy” experience.
Even if the Flawless I saw wasn’t you it is still a good explanation why some people feel this way; “You” play the most scoreboard meta setup in patch 12, then you jump into patch 13 where all old meta is gone and you think “hmm I don’t feel overpowered anymore… it must be the game being hard. It can’t be me, i’m the 1%”

That might have been me.
Thing is, vet is not my main class, and my performance related statemets regarding before the update held true, no matter what class i played, or what loadout my teammates played.
When you outperform other players all the same, even if they use the same loadout as you, you can not really blame the loadout anymore.

Also, i have not played veteran since the update, and I am using different builds now, than i used before. I am still almost always top performer. So far, i got outperformed once, by a gunlugger ogryn with ripper.
If you look at my explanation as to why the game does not seem too easy to me, it has nothing to do with my own performance having dipped.
It has to do with me usually playing with randoms, and noticing that they are struggling massively. And not only in ways that are related to balance and talent tree changes.

Playing some more over the last few days, I agree, I’ve noticed as much.

I guess this is what some commentators mean when they say people tend to optimize the fun out of their games. Folks being bothered by things being too easy should just change builds (or play commando veteran), lol. If the overtuned stuff gets addressed I expect to see a string of posts and threads complaining about the reverse, the game being too hard.

I have a pretty straight commando build (only exchanged smoke for krak) with antax v and Lucius II to roleplay my death Korps trench raider and have to say: I find this budget zealot actually very fun to play.

Me too, it’s all I’ve been playing since yesterday, lol.

My issue with it is that you’re not very survivable even if you’re maxing for it. Even with my tanky officer build you’re pretty much going down in melee if anything bigger than a rager catches you with a heavy strike even at full toughness with Iron will, Get Back in the Fight, and Close order drill. Ranged, same thing happens, more than two shooters catch you with a volley, even with the above talents active, you’re going down. The only way I’ve managed to survive those has been with vet officer or zealot preacher Toughness yellow bar overcharges and it still often takes me to zero. Plus it sometimes staggers/stuns so the down is often guaranteed anyways. That’s with one of the tankiest vet builds too. Why so much crap to buff my toughness if even a light breeze still deletes me? I have an HP curio with a bit of durability too. I ended up biting the bullet anyways, and traded my stam 3 curio for a wound one with HP and resistances after a few maelstrom games on day 1. Still considering giving up CDR and stam regen for more HP and resistances everywhere else. After experimenting I’ve found you’re still ridiculously brittle as either commando or executioner vet even if you spec into the final portion of the officer tree to nab Confirmed Kill and Iron Will. Jesus I’ve had situations on commando vet where two or three bursters ? I can’t remember exactly, but it was more than one at least, but not a conga line. . . Anyways, they managed to not only enough to zero me out from full HP and toughness, but also maxed out all 3 of my wounds instantly killing me. First time I’ve ever experienced that with anything less than taking most of a conga line. This is all pretty effin wild!

IDK if this is why these two feel so squishy to me, jury’s still out on this one, but I acknowledge a part of this may also be due to latency shenanigans. But it wasn’t that easy to get deleted pre-patch. I’ve said previously on here in a different thread that IDM dancing-on-the-edge-type gameplay. This is still the case, but g@dd@mn it FS, fix the d@mn servers before setting the game to wombo. While I manage to still have fun on commando and executioner vet. It’s not fun to randomly explode in situations where I just would’ve been surprised, and taken damage but had a chance to recover (even if barely) due to the AI director turning on the lag switch to assassinate me with teleporting trash mobs/crusher/mauler/rager or insta sniper shot f*ckery.

yeah please increase the difficulty since everything got so many buffs its only fair

Maybe I’m just a scrub, but, to me the auric maelstrom missions seem incredibly spicy

If anything the difficulty seems like it’s been bumped up – the crazy auric conditions now also apply during all events, so like during the Hab Dreyko finale you’re dealing with monstrosities etc.
