Everything in moderation, even cheating…?
Right it’s fine. Cheating is fine, your only 2 choices are EAC+neutered mods or the current wild west of ~no standards, because PvE, so who cares.
These are the only 2 possible options, in this or any other timeline, including timelines that may not yet have branched off from our sacred timeline.
0 XOR 1, you either hate all mods and want EAC back in the midst and sanctions mods every 3-6 months XOR accept any and all mega-cheeze and ~cheats.
Darn it, you’d think with all the big brains here and on Discord there could have been some sensible alternatives. Ah well, whaddya gonna do; like we tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas, man!
Why do you hate all mods and want EAC back? Wait, do I hate all mods!?
I feel an ironic post here.
As I asked you, and it was a real question, what do you propose?
Cause actually I see players that just arguing each others but nothing is proposed.
I have to say that one thing has been proposed (by @MadMartigan in the other thread): an option to not pair with players that use a patched darktide
And I am in favor of it, even if I doubt that this will be the top priority of fatshark considering how solo, something that can be done in 10 min and was promised, isn’t still here.
This is a real question. So, what do you propose?
Chiming in, yet again, to say there is some standard of what is acceptable.
I know you detest spidey sense but still.
Baaareeely, and it seems somewhat arbitrary and rife with exploitable loopholes. Some of the worst offenders seem grandfathered in as well at this point, and people seem to be very afraid of ruffling some feathers and doublethink-pretzel themselves to make excuses for them.
Yeah, this is the community expressing opinions, ruffled feathers be damned.
P.S.
That’s also spideyradar, the mod page showcases it, including extra modded game for even better directional indicators, the diamonds in the pics.
Ok.
So they just want to complain all days and have no proposition.
They just want to complain cause they can.
This is literally the devs’ job.
Shifting the responsibility onto players to come up with solutions is one of the most obnoxious ‘rebuttals’ people can do.
The devs maintain the Darktide Mod Framework.
Ball’s in your court, player.
An open-source, community-run framework of modules that provides enhanced modding capabilities and support.
Uhhh, sure.
The Darktide Mod Framework originally started in Warhammer End Times: Vermintide as an unofficial modding platform. In the time since, DMF has been rewritten and redesigned with contributions from many unique members of the community; culminating in this unified project.
Oops, looks like I’m wrong. I thought they had a dev issuing patches at some point…
Thank you
There’s an answer form fatshark. Their policy. It works, as they made several mods removed.
The problem is more on your side. You don’t agree with what they stated as fine (if they are not removed, they are fine), so, it is up to you to propose something.
This is too easy to push the responsability on them. Cause if they propose an other solution, you will again complain.
Entirely possible a dev was helping them on the side for shiggles but overall it’s still not a dev run thing.
No they don’t, but they do maintain the modding policy and continue to communicate with modders, including efforts to reduce crashing from mods. I want to say that there was even an issue they helped address in Extended Weapon Customization, but I’m not sure 100% sure on that.
But FS’s stance is clear: the cheating that is possible through mods does not rise to the level of concern that would justify crippling mods with EAC or another painful, wasteful sanctioning system.

Not one of which is from Fatshark directly here - even though the thread title asks explicitly for a view. @LoPuS @FatsharkStrawHat
We have:
-
A system where mods can enter the wild easily, and then need to be clawed back after the event if post-submission they are deemed unacceptable (can you imagine a github coding system like that? Where you merge to live first, then revert on exception? Why don’t you have an enforced pre-approval system?)
-
A second-hand post in a discord channel, submitted here via a sympathetic community of (let’s face it) self-appointed judge, jury and executioners. You guys get to decide what’s acceptable in a mod eh? Don’t say Fat-Shark do - they’ve said they leave it to the community. 2nd post in thread. “And if you are playing Darktide for the bragging points you would still be at the mercy of the communitys opinion of the mod and not ours(Fatshark).”
-
A community of what look like very supportive (and yes, talented) non-contract support developers. But nonetheless, not FS employees.
-
A decision that “cheats don’t matter because… you’ll likely never know? And the good outweighs the bad” … leading on to:
-
And lastly; and what probably makes me most irate. FS are happy with this balance because they seemingly don’t have the resource to implement the good ideas, so just off-hand it to modders. “We don’t mind mods xyz that are dubious because the greater good is served by mods abc”. Gods. I’d hang my head in shame to be a professional company relying on enthusiasts to prop me up.
I genuinely wasn’t actually all that invested until I realised that the developers officially didn’t seem to care that people could cheat. I am astounded by that. I am hugely disappointed by that.
IDK. I’m out of this conversation hereon. The two sides will never see eye to eye, that’s obvious. I’m no longer trying to convince anyone because I can see many people are happy with it.
I still wait ONE proposition out of the one from @MadMartigan …
For now, I only see critics of Fatshark. And nothing proposed. Nothing pushed to say “here what we want”.
Precision: this is not against you
I feel that, to discuss about something, we should start from a base.
One idea Ralendil
And interestingly, I asked my mate who doesn’t visit the forums or use mods. I explained to him what the “Decoder Mod” did and the first words out of his mouth were “that kinda feels like a cheat”. So you know; depends who you ask, and how you ask them?
If your question was “Is spidey sense okay as a mod” then that might have elicited a different response. Anyway. As I’ve said, my voice is but one of many. I don’t presume a right to make the decision. Shame those that do haven’t turned up to the debate in person.
And then, we return to the same question I asked several times: What do you propose?
You have a problem, I don’t have with the mods and how Fatshark handle them.
So, what do you want? what do you propose? what is your ideal solution?
I’ve DM’d you. I’ve written previously in another thread - so let’s take it “offline”.
