If your CPU is fried because intel is a joke… then you’re going to be out of luck.
Have you done any stress testing or stability testing to confirm if your CPU has degraded? If it has you are going to have to limit your clock speeds and overvolt the CPU
The cpu was stress tested, it doesnt exhibit any sign of degradation based on what the damaged cpu shows.
i tried:
-limit clock speed
-undervolting too.
-install of win 11 instead of 10
-deleted all and any files of darktide, including the appdata files
-verified files integrity about dozens of times by now
-copied files from my boyfriend’s computer’s install of darktide which has no bugs yet he has the exact same build (minus manufacturer of GPU (both 3060TI))
-disabled shadowplay
-disabled steam overlay
-checked integrity of RAM
-disabled mods (even tho my bf has the exact same mods as me (literally i’ve made the mod pack which i’ve copied MY FILES then gave them to him (he has no bugs))
-checked my drives for errors
-changed the game’s install drive
-disabled overclocks
-enabled overclocks
-scan for viruses
-looked for background applications
-checked the windows files
-updated graphic drivers
-created a ticket with intel just in case they can help (they haven’t looked at my ticket yet (its 3 month old))
-starting the game
-pressing any button on the game’s opening menu
-joining back in the mourningstar after a game
-launching a game when in the ready screen
-the game keeps playing in the background but the box with ‘‘failed to decompress’’ is the only thing i can interact with, the sound, graphics, connection is all good but i can only press ‘‘ok’’ which closes the game.
Some files in the errors are simply missing from the game entirely but even if they are replaced with other files from another install, they still fail to decompress.
i’m currently at 3’145H played, this game is great, i adore it and i have spent my money for skins on it numerous times (always the big bundles).
a refund is out of the question for me, i want this to work and to get back to the game.
if this cannot be resolved this would simply be incredibly disappointing.
i’m not tech savy, i’m getting help from my programmer BF and my web developer friend, we’re doing all we can to solve this.
i have spent all the free money i’ve had on this PC build, i do not work a high paying job (minimum wage), i have student debt, credit card debt, friend debt, ‘‘just getting another hardware just in case’’ is out of the question.
i just feel super pissed, i rarely love a game that much.

i’m super exhausted here, it seems to be either the CPU which i have been following intel for a replacement and will have a period of time where i have an even deeper hole in the finances.
side note, intel customer support is horrible and will do everything in their power to try to refuse to help, the serial number is even encrypted which can be read using an app they try their best to hide (found it after 11 others) or you buy a scanner which you cannot buy unless you’re a partner of theirs a.k.a a retailer).
or the motherbooard is the problem, which i already had to replace because the first one was dead on arrival which caused a week’s delay before getting #2 and the only available delivery dates for the same MB is in february (this post dates 19/12/2024).
i’m documenting this whole thing hoping it might help anyone who runs into it in the future, but its also good to vent.
the plan for now is… further credit debt. will update when new parts arrive i guess.
i’ll admit, not to be an annoying about the topic, but i would have had more money on hand had fatshark’s store prices been lower.
after all this… i dont know… if the game still crashes i will not stop pestering the devs for a fix until its resolved…
warframe and helldivers 2 crashes here and there but wayyyyyyyy less frequently than darktide… there’s something special here, idk what but the game needs optimization nonetheless.
i dont know where i’m going with this, its 9:45 am and i’ve been working on my pc because it wouldnt turn on (for no reason btw, i just ended up re-connecting everything like it was and it worked) since 2am… i think i’m going to go sleep
oh before i log off, darktide’s crashes have increased, fresh installs do nothing, mods do nothing, it has a crash rate of about 95%, i think darktide is out of the question for my gaming time until progress is made. 3165.5h to end up here, i miss the game.
i managed to log in once to look at the cosmetics, just to see a re-roll, a pretty boring one at that… very disapointing.
Do you have any other games that have a dedicated shader build step in the beginning? Some 13/14600K and higher CPUs have a manufacturing defect that cause them to degrade when they pull too much voltage (“too much” in this case also includes the higher performance motherboard settings usually on by default). People think it’s a graphics issue due to it happening in shader precompilation but that’s because the CPU get’s hit very hard during this.
There’s BIOS updates out to prevent this from happening but once a processor starts degrading it can’t be fixed. If you’d like you can try using the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool in the background while you start Darktide and hope it’s testing something relevant when Darktide crashes. I haven’t used it myself but it looks like you can set the test to loop until it fails or run a 3 hour burn in test (which can also loop, might be a better option for you).
