Fatal Error Crash - Failed to decompress

Issue Type (Required):

Crash - During Play

Issue Description (Required):

At random points during gameplay, both outside of a mission wandering around in Mourningstar and during a mission, I’m receiving a fatal error message indicating something failed to decompress.

This occurs regardless of which drive I have the game installed on.

Interestingly, if I ignore this error and don’t click ok while in a mission the game will continue to run until the end of the mission at which point it will freeze.

Sorry to hear this @Owison

If you haven’t already done so, I recommend trying our data corruption solutions here:

The issue continues to occur after verifying game files.

Adding AV/firewall exceptions for EAC also did not resolve the issue. Interestingly, this issue does not occur on my laptop where the AV/firewall exceptions do not exist for EAC.

I do not have any mods installed, none of my system components are overclocked, all four RAM modules are operating at the same frequency, and Windows reports no errors for either of my system drives.

Thanks for the update! The only other thing I can recommend to try would be a clean reinstallation of Darktide, which involves deleting your AppData (note any custom settings e.g. keybindings, loadouts etc. will be lost), which can often resolve more complex issues:

If the issue persists, then if possible, please also try reinstalling Darktide on a different drive.

Reinstallation of the game appears to have resolved the issue.
Thanks!
