This happens all the time. I have verified the Integrity of Game Files multiple times. I don’t use mods and never did. I have disabled the antivirus. I have installed the last drivers from the Nvidia gpu, as well as restart the computer and close and open Steam. I did the scan on the SSD, even when it said “You don’t need to scan this drive”.
Nothing works. All the time, i get the same error “Failed to read”.

Then sarching on the forums on steam, i followed the steps to play the game on Experimental Branch, just to be received by the “Failed to decompress:” error.

I don’t rellay know what to do anymore

1. Verify Integrity of Game Files

• Did multiple times, both from Steam and from the game launcher

2. Disable Your Mods

• i don’t use mods

3. [Vermintide 2] Remove the Easy Anti-Cheat

• It’s not Vermintide, so moving on

4. Add Firewall & Anti-Virus Exceptions

• I disabled the Anti-Virus and Firewall, but nothing.

5. Check Your Drives

• I did. No errors on my pc, but same error from the game

6. Check Your RAM

• Done. 0 errors.

7. Check Your RAM Speeds

• Done. Same speed

8. Disable Your Overclocks
   -No overclocks

9. Re-Scan Your MSI Afterburner Overclocks

• No overclocks

10. Check for Viruses and Malware

• Done. 0 malware

11. Disable Background Applications
    Done. 0 results

12. Intel i9 13900k/14900k and Intel i7 13700k/14700k: Underclock ‘Performance Core’ Speed

• Not using Intel, but AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

Nothing worked. Same error “[Engine Error]: Failed to read: ../bundle\data/14/147d4d3a56166f04.stream from package 699107ca, Error: Unknown error code 0x80070017 (0x80070017).”

Could you try this below, please?:

Part 1: Setting Feature Flags

1. Navigate to your Darktide AppData by:

• Press the Windows key + R
• Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
• Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide

2. Open the user_settings.config
3. At the VERY TOP of the user_settings.config, enter the lines below:

direct_storage = {
    enabled = true
    disable_bypass_io = true
    force_file_buffering = true
    force_mapping_layer = false
}

4. Save your changes
5. Play!
6. Post here to let us know the outcome

NOTE: If you currently have disable_dstorage = true in your user_settings.config from previous instructions, please remove it and replace with the updated version above.

Part 2: Didn’t Work?

In the event the instructions above did not help with your issue, please try:

1. Navigate to your Darktide AppData by:

• Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide

2. Open the user_settings.config
3. Remove the changes made previously
4. At the VERY TOP of the user_settings.config, enter the line below:

So far, I haven’t had any more problems.

This is what i did:

1. Deleted the folder 14, where the defective file was located.
2. Deleted the folder Darktide and Easy anticheat from AppData\Roaming
3. Then verified que caché of the game

It worked for 2 games. Then i visited the shop and got this error:

After this, i did several things:

1. Use the experimental branch of the game
2. Delete the folder 24 where the defective file was located.
3. verify caché of the files
4. 2. Open the user_settings.config
      At the very top of the file user_settings.config, entered the line below:

direct_storage = {
enabled = true
disable_bypass_io = true
force_file_buffering = true
force_mapping_layer = false
}

And then play several games. So far, no problems. Thanks for all!!
