I have to apologize because I thought base scoreboard included that information. This is the scoreboard addon you want:
You have to pick and choose what to display, since scoreboard can’t fit ALL of it.
Also in general all I can say is that the few times I play Gunker, I cannot, under any circumstance, go 90% ranged. Even with all ammo pinged and all ammo picked up by various members of the team, rooms/chests being reasonably searched etc, and with me always going melee into hordes and only using ammo on real and weak monstrosities and certain elite/special blobs. It takes 2 weakened monstros to get you down to half ammo as a gunker. How you could possibly go 90% ranged (with other ranged people in team) is completely beyond me.
My build goes all in on crit and damage to mitigate shots required. I’m literally the glassest of cannons. It only works because of a very particular playstyle:
I go exclusively for headshots, which works very well with the columnus once you get used to its spray pattern. People also sleep on the 10% BB every 15 seconds talent. It comes in clutch so many times to onetap a reaper after a few bullets. Also helps improve boss dps massively.
I also have ability cooldown perks and a very high uptime of scriers gaze. That alone can make the difference between 1 mag and 3 for a heavy elite pack.
This is how much I get out of a single magazine without scrier’s gaze active.
You also see right away BB doing its job.
Scriers gaze more or less doubles the kill count.
You can further improve he killcount if you position yourself in a way that you have enemies line up. From what I see columnus has slight penetration. It’s little things like that that help you to conserve ammo tbh.
Wildfire brings surprising utility, given how often it activates with auric elite density. Give it a try
Yep. No chance to kill maulers/crushers/bulwarks with knife otherwise.
edit: f it lemme get the creature spawner mod real quick. My testing autism is activated now
@CommanderJ I’m sorry to interject but I’ve intentionally not taken into account any circumstantial proof of something like a scoreboard to prove a point. In my mind at least, this is not about if something CAN be done but more of a “how usually things play out”.
EG: I can play gun psyker and not use all of the ammo of the team and I understand it can be done. But as we all know everyone has a different skill level and some people play difficulties where they objectively have no business even looking at said difficulty. In short, the whole point of this thread was to find suggestions on how to dampen the hit if you have ehm, sub optimal ammo use let’s say. I mean what could FS do to soften the blow.
Well yeah scoreboards are anecdotal at best, I agree. But if you are going to use them, they need to at least have a breakdown of melee and ranged.
But yeah regardless of scoreboard, I know there is no way for me to run ‘90%’ ranged, without stealing all the ammo. But I shall do some Gunkering at auric and auric maelstrom and see. Solo quickplay of course, for maximum effect.
Yeah I always felt that the limits on wildfire limits it massively, but of course on this build it’s sort of in the path anyway - and you’re of course right about increased elite/special density lately.
Gunkering with the columnus benefits heavily from headshots. Just did some testing with a Plague Ogryn, which has the highest health of all bosses.
In a perfect world, if you hit all your shots it’s just below 3 mags:
If you solo it it’s roughly 5 1/2 magazines with more or less mediocre aim:
(had to cut it very short at the beginning because of filesize limit)
If you average that out it’s more or less 4 mags. Which is pretty much my experience in real runs with another player kiting it. Depending on your current buff and stack situation this can be faster of course.
It’s a specialized build for high density maps. If enemies are too scattered it falls off a lot from my experience.
I agree. I’m looking forward to testing it out tomorrow. Especially in comparison with plasma/autogun vets and achlys/kickback ogryn. Those builds are the benchmark I compare the gunker with tbh. If I can’t outdamage and outkill their average users without hogging all the ammo it’s either a meh build or I’m not playing right.
Get caught even by a single gunner in a bad spot/out of dodges and you’re SOL because of the stagger-lock.
Just did a auric maelstrom with 2 vets and a Ogryn (not gunlugger). I shot about as much as I thought I could during the match. It was a big arena end event where both ammo boxes were used, so I shot for the whole end event. (It’s the one where you wait for the ceiling to open, red smoke in the middle etc.)
Even with all that hog-wild shooting at the end-arena, I ended up with roughly 70% ranged kills and 30% melee kills.
Obviously if ammo boxes were used during mission rather than at the end event, I probably could have shot more during the mission - but no parts of the mission would have had as high of an enemy density as the end arena. Anyway, just one test. More to go. Also need to figure out the screenshot key, or set the scoreboards to save. I don’t normally care about them, but I guess I should save a few of these.
Jokes aside it’s a great way to train your dodge, positioning and general ability not to take damage. Whenever I get back to Zealot or Vet from this build I feel invincible, since those classes are so much tankier.
That’s roughly the ratio I end up with (assumedly) when I’m not in the mood to search every nook and cranny for ammo. The build is much more ammo effective when you go with duelling 4, since it’s a lot better at melee and faster with crushers/maulers, but you loose out on positioning and damage mitigation through speed I feel.
The trade off with knife is that you have to scour the map for ammo as most of your dps comes from ranged kills.
The knife does give more mobility, but yes it’s also… at times more dangerous in melee. You certainly want to be shooting certain enemies more often than if you ran the Mk4 saber, just to avoid the danger.
Also imagine if Hit & Run actually worked at 15 meters… it would be bliss.
ok so I finally managed to get an example where I am both in the time limit (I use windows record past 30 second feature to record, a bit of a boomer me) and where I do not instinctively press B to tag (which in the hub takes me to Melk). 4 mags on my shooty Vet on a live boss with average aiming (one Melk visit and 1 bumping into a column).
Boss standing still, 2 mags.
Also the build is not too trash in melee, this is the time to kill 3 crushers with relative safety and a quick Melk visit.
I was unkillable in maelstrom for the time it did. It’s one of the reasons why I’m so mad about the issue.
Yeah the dmg buff from standing still combined with all the other ones is insane. It does support my argument that having the right build and knowing how to play it well make a world of difference in your ammo economy.
But I support your argument. Again the point is about quick play “what the norm is”. Also you don’t need to stand still, you have 3 seconds on weakspot hit not to lose stacks and on kill it’s 6.
On the live boss demo, the only damage I’m losing on is the “not being a bit further away” part but proportionately it’s much less (even if still a good amount) than the 10 stacks which you have on perma essentially if when you open up with ranged you hit a head once every 3 seconds the very least. Notice I didn’t lose 1 stack ever during that boss fight.
Ah fair enough. I never bothered to full skill it. I’ve yet to make a real build with it apart from farming the penance kills.
I’m too high on melee knife vet with weapon specialist. I’ll definitely give that one a go once I get tired of weapon specialist.
