DLC Boss(es)

Plaguebearers  (Please excuse the Chaos Space Marines in the background, it was the best picture I could find)

Ye for sure lol, lore arguments tend to do that.

a plague priest could work, though they’re a bit weak compared to the other stuff we’ve fought. the only other lord choice I know of for skaven are verminlords, though they might be a little bit too strong. I guess if we disrupt some ritual or something beforehand it would work though?

A Verminlord would be far too much for the U5, but if we disrupt a summoning ritual, then I suppose that could work, though I’m not sure as to what degree they can interract with the mortal world before being bound to it.

A plague priest would be cool. Imagine you’re technically not fighting him until a second phase, where the first phase is just him sending hordes of slave- and clanrats at you while you duck and dodge gas globes and other machinations whilst using them to kill the hordes of rats crashing against you.

Another idea is a Warlock Engineer. He could use tons of generic skaven technology against the U5, including a doomwheel that you have to dodge- would be neat if you had to lead him into crashing into a piece of equipment to destroy it, like a warp coil or something other disastrous.

Another boss idea I have, though technically it would just be a whole level in itself, is a group of Warplock Jezzails.
The U5 are bogged down by a fortified jezzail position. The mission is to kill them and level the position they’ve burrowed. They have to use cover while getting near, all the while being assaulted by skaven forces, FS could borrow the Azyr weave mechanics and have anyone not behind cover in the open areas immediately be the target of one of the jezzails. Stick your head out too long, and you’ll get shot and suffer high amounts of damage.

It ends with the U5 coming up from behind and throwing a lit gunpowder barrel at their munitions, blowing it all up spectacularly.

Aren’t waystalkers very strong in the lore?

It varies a lot honestly, though you could just destroy a local magic whatever and say that was empowering it if you wanted to tone it down without stretching lore much. Engineer would be cool too, though it might be a bit hard to code.

Verminlords aren’t too different to what’s already in game, though they’d mix magic and melee a bit more than we’ve seen so far.

Yeah, they’re pretty ridiculous lorewise. Wood elves in general are a pretty awful match up for assassins, but waystalkers are arguably the worst. Hard to sneak up on someone who you can’t even find and can see you coming from a mile off.

I’d say that in terms of champions I can’t see Bödvarr as anything less than an Exalted Champion but perhaps not a full blown Chaos Lord. So a mid-level champion.

As for a new bosses I think that almost anything can work. If its really powerful, the Ü5 will use indirect means, and if it isn’t so powerful than we’ll just use direct means to dispose of it.

And now when I think about it, I think that one kind of boss haven’t been tried yet; a buffer. Essentially that the opposition is mostly in terms of hordes of various critters, preferably Skaven, and that the boss boosts them in one or several different ways, while trying to keep away from the players. Could risk getting tedious of course but I thought that I should throw it out there.

On the subject of High Tier Skaven unit’s that could be new “Bosses” considering this game is called Vermintide and could use more Skaven love…

If they can kill a Skaven Warlord (Assumming Skarrik is a legit Skaven Warlord, and not just some punk overgrown Stormvermin filling in the job after Krench died) then they can kill an Skaven Assassin, although possibly not a Master Assassin, however it is a mute point because these units are not going to ever fight fair or find themself in a 4 v 1 scenario. Keep in mind Eshin Assassins are often contracted by the Council of 13 to kill disloyal or upstart Warlords and Grey Seer’s. Clan Eshin is fairly unique in how thoroughly vetted its elite units are, and how much training / time goes into them, at least for the ones that survive long enough to become Assassins.

More believable we could fight a Plague Priest, or a Warlock Engineer , (maybe even a Warlock Master?) Personally I think a Plague priest would be too much like Burblespew, areas of poision gas, a bunch of Skaven swarm in etc etc. However I also think it is the most believable Hero / Lord we could fight considering Clan Fester is / was? a sub-clan of Clan Pestilins so them having a lingering Plague priest to take control of the rabble that is left after Rasknitt’s death would be believable.

I think a Warlock Engineer would be a much cooler and unique fight. Your basically fighting a Skaven Iron-man, it could have a flamethrower arm (like Ikit) or guns, design wise there is a lot that could be done with a Warlock Engineer / Warlock Master. But this is more in the Skyre direction and Be that Clan Fester is probably mostly destroyed after loosing the Skitter gate, I highly doubt they would have any loyal Warlock Engineer’s or Masters that would stick around although certainly there HAD to have been a few responsible for creating the Skittergate…

Perhaps we shall see… perhaps not… who knows?.. Certainly not you lot…

Personally, I never understood the demand for more bosses as most of the Helmgart bosses are rather anti-climatic and not very interesting. In addition, they are normally a balance nightmare. Make them to weak and your dps classes will insta-gib them (which is a problem up to Legend), make them to sturdy and you will have an annoying battle of attrition.

However, I understand that a part of the community wants more of them. With that said, in this discussion, there is one line which stood out oddly for me (actually it is in the post right above):

Are we limiting ourselves to this situation or is it the lore? Why does it have to be a 4 v 1 fight?Especially, with the discussion about a master Assassin in mind. We have seen that we can fight two “bosses” at the same time like Rasknitt and Death Rattler. So couldn’t we fight a Chaos/Beastmen Lord and a Master Assassin at the same time?
Imagine the heroes standing there waiting for the Lord to come down during his motivational intro-speech and still while the Lord is talking, the assassin is already attacking and pouncing the first player as surprise. After all, they would never fight a fair fight. Over the course of the fight, he would appear and disappear like a normal assassin, maybe with some additional poisened throwing daggers etc.

Lets mix it up and talk about a god damn Doombull

Doombulls are up there with giants, cygors and yes, even hellpit abominations and dragon ogres. They would wreck our sh*t 8 ways and a half.
No thank you.

Who said it would have to be Bossfight we would win?

Can you imagine the tantrumfest if we got to fight a doombull but the battle would end with us or the bull escaping?

We don’t even get to kill it reeeeeeee waste of dev time worst game ever

I am not sure he meant that kind of tantrumfest. Basically, you could implement a boss fight which just wrecks the U5, not anyone fleeing. Just defeat.

Sure, people would rage about how the mission can not be completed but maybe they would be more cautious with their suggestions next time and regard a proper power scale :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I mean, it could work if all we had to do was survive, a cool addition to the boss fight could be if Olesya extracts us with her shadow carriage this time instead of teleporting us, because this time there’s no convenient teleportation stone around.

“survive until Olesya finished her teleporation ritual”

Vermintide is an End Times story; thus the probability of the U5 dying is highly likely. So long as the mission is presented in such a way that the players realize it is supposed to be “un-winnable” at least in the sense of the U5 surviving then they shouldn’t whine, If they do then clearly they cant separate gameplay (power fantasy) and story / plot, in which case they are dumb, it would be like playing a game where you play as Luke Skywalker and keep getting angry that your hand gets cutt off by Darth vader regardless of how gud you are.

It would actually make sense that the final mission is a un-winnable death mission at least in regards to the U5 surviving. (if they decide to finish the story, and not leave it open ended)

My guess / thought would be it would be the U5 caught the attention of a major Skaven clan with their actions in destroying Clan Fester, and over the course of a mission or two the location of their keep is discovered. Then the final mission is just a Seige of the Keep. With the only objective is to “Survive” which is impossible, but the longer your team stays alive or “progresses” the greater post-game loot rewards

I guess it would all depend on what GW will allow and if they even want the story to be “completed” sometimes they go the route of leave some things unsaid even some Legendary Lords have and incomplete / unsaid or no inclusion in End times

This is really a class balance issue more than anything else. Lowering boss health a bit and getting rid of the obscene boss damage some classes can put out would be nice. BH turning everything into a joke as long as he can land a few pretty easy shots gets boring, as does having to chase rasknitt around if you’re not running him or shade.

Now let’s calm down and don’t give Fatshark any funny ideas. I want my Happy Ending and as we all know we can just ignore how the End Times ended and agree that Age of Sigmar will never happen.
Call me a wuss but I absolutely despise sad endings. (maybe because I watched too much Disney in my childhood)

I really hope they don’t go down that hole. Because I am surely not done with the U5 storywise.
