DLC Boss(es)

I personally hate End Times too. But I am High-Fantasy biased (as well as Skaven biased) and Age of Sigmar is basically if Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy had a child that nobody wanted or asked for. Also my favorite psychopathic black furred bastard in red was killed so yea much hate to End Times. I choose to pretend it never happens either, because F-End Times

That aside its been made clear that Vermintide takes place during End Times so I definantly wouldnt rule the U5 dying as out of the question lol!

Of course it is a class balance issue. I said nothing different there. But it is a serious matter which can’t be resolved that easily. I remember a Cataclysm game on War Camp with four defensive characters/players where we got the map challenge without even trying because at one point I was the sole surviving IB with about 30 CW in the arena.
I’m not even sure lowering the ult damage alone would solve the issue although it will obvisouly help a lot. You could introduce a damage cap for example. But I think to remember that we had this before and guess what, it didn’t sit well with a part of the community. Anything which removes cheese from this game will be decried as “FS not liking fun, hurr durr”.

Shall I tell you a dark secret? There exists a contract, nobody has ever seen. It states that FS is allowed to keep doing the Vermintide series and the U5 having not only preventing but completely retconning the Endtimes. There is just one Little tiny precondition: The whole of the Vermintide community shall not insult each other and/or the developers of the game for a whole year in order to demonstrate that they can withstand the influences of Chaos.

I also hate the fact that the “World that was” ended, but I also very much enjoy Age of Sigmar so far.
I hope it relieves you to know that GW is resurrecting WHF in a few years, though no one knows whether the end of End Times will be retconned or they’ll just retroactively add more content in a sort of prequel manner.
The general theory though is that the End Times will act as WHF’s Horus Heresy.

Not completely, but the worst examples can. As long as BH can still oneshot CW and do decent boss damage, anyone complaining that he can’t instant nuke lords isn’t worth listening to lol. Same as the people who thought BW was fine weren’t.

AoS has got some super cool stuff going on, and by all accounts it’s doing well financially, so I really doubt they’ll retcon the end times. Might change some of the dumber lore I guess, but the actual event I very much doubt they’ll get rid of.

Would be a strange choice to get rid of a product line that’s going well to go back and gamble on one that historically underperformed lol

Retconning completely isn’t what I was going for, I meant as in making a split in the timeline, where Age of Sigmar is simply one ending to the End Times, whereas a different end to the End Times where the forces of Order succeeded, Chaos was sent back and the World that Was survived the End Times.

This could lead to a whole bunch of interesting plots and in-universe issues, such as rebuilding, restructuring and demands for reparation of past grudges. There’s still a lot of life left in the old world if they decide to go this route.

Have you ever been to the reddit? I honestly don’t know if that is possible over there…

In the forums its quite alright. I mean there are a few special individuals or complain posts but there is usually no bad language involved.

Your suggestion about our heroes creating an alternate ending is what I hope for.

This chode speaks the truth.

I’d really love to have a retconned / alternate reality situation where the Old World survives. If only for the sake of childhood memories, but also because the Ü5 might survive as well. (And even play a part in it!) Even though I hadn’t thought of Warhammer Fantasy for years, I was really miffed when I finally learned about the End Times when Vermintide 1 caught my eye. (Years after the fact.) Felt like somebody ruined fond memories of the past.

At the risk of going off topic too much, but what is the Horus Heresy precisely? Has there been a similar retcon in Warhammer 40K?

Nae, Horus Heresy is totally different to the End Times.

Horus Heresy is about fleshing out a significent part of the background to 40k. Namely when half the Space Marine legions, and their Primarchs, went traitor against the Emperor.

So very different stuff from the End Times.

For a Fantasy equivalent it would be like the “War of the Beard” or “Sigmar’s Time on Earth” being expanded and elaborated into a setting of its own within the same universe but a different point on the timeline.

Don’t worry I take it as a compliment so the timer keeps running.

(I actually had to google what “chode” means and I honestly never knew something like that existed or that there is actually a word for it)

Could happen yeah, I imagine it’ll just be like horus heresy though, like you said. They did change up plenty of the setting while doing that series anyway.

Horus Heresy is stuff set about 10k years before the normal 40k setting, which focuses on the actual rebellion that created chaos marines and put the emperor in his chair. They’ve retconned a bit of old lore with it, though the biggest parts haven’t happened just yet.

Redoing fantasy would likely be similar to this, I imagine, where it’s just an “in the past” type setting where the results are still set in stone but they can redo bits and pieces of the lore while doing so.

Could be timeline stuff as well, but I really hope not, I hate that sort of convoluted writing.

What about a Forsaken??
In Total War: Warhammer they seem like your usual infantry. But accoirding to a few lore-websites they are somewhat a Higher Tier than Chaosspawns (Altough I guess you can’t properly rank a chaos spawn as a every spawn is unique).

I don’t know what to think of them. But they do look scary…

Forsaken are Chosen who were too powerful to devolve into Chaos Spawns, but still too weak to wholly receive the blessings of their chaos god.
They may seem like disposable shock troops in TW:WH2, but lorewise they wreck face and chew bubblegum.
They could absolutely be a boss in VT, about a tier and a half above spawns. They have more intelligence and presence than spawns, but are still guttural, blabbering idiots in comparison to those who are less touched by chaos.

I’d really love to have a retconned / alternate reality situation where the Old World survives. If only for the sake of childhood memories, but also because the Ü5 might survive as well.

Maybe they can keep the U5 going until Warhammer: The Old World is out and see if the story can continiue there. But if they stay within the endtimes, I could really dig a final badass death mission. However it would be neat if we got some DLC bosses before that… a kind of Beastlord would be high on the list to properly top off the Dark Omens path, for example.
