You canāt be seriousā¦ you think all the community will go for Boltgun? except if they lied on the screenshots provided and that it is a beautifull gameā¦ well, no chance.
Even starship strooper has better chances. And tbh, the early access sound good. Not great, but good enough. But, there are lot of work on it. So much, that I cannot advice it at this point (even if my first mission on it was really fun).
Personally my view of troopers after 1 game is far less positive than my view of darktide at the same point. Darktide has some fabulous combat that feels incredible. Its being mismanaged and its players/customers are also being mismanaged but i see it as the better product with better long term replayability.
But sometimes a worse product wins because it remembers its real KPI. Customer satisfaction.
However, an āhordeā of bugs is far more dangerous than the DT hordes
It is what I have lovedā¦ the moment where lot of bugs come and you have to defend the base.
It could give intense moments if they work well their game.
But, atm I would say:
animations: not bad but assurely not great (DT = great)
textures: Great (DT Great)
combat: few weapons but intense combat. (DT great)
physic: need serious work (DTā¦ great?)
missions: simpleā¦ and effective (DT good)
RNG: no RNG (DT RNG everywhere)
Content: poor content but early access (DT is just average on thisā¦ miss missions. Not just one moreā¦ we need missions with random generation of the maps and objectives)
Universe: Great and devs choices permits an immersion in it (DT: bad on this point)
wellā¦ DT is far better than is this starship trooper. However, ST could be a good game. The problem of early access is that you can find a good game that will become a must have game (like Everspace 2) or the game can stay interesting but never good, or worstā¦ it can see things changing for the worst. In other words, you never know what you will get at final when buying an early access game.
I actually agree with him on this, but only for FSās art team. They really understand the Warhammer aesthetic and itās a crime that they have to work for a company that canāt manage even a fraction of that passion and competence on the technical side.
VT2 outlived years of game releases. Darktide will, too. Question is how many will remain.
How new are you to the internet?
You, a young person: Yes.
Nothing personal. But you need some perspective on that one.
I mean, it is a technicality. So not exactly wrong.
Yeah but theyāve been doing it since forever. Itās because they put so many eggs in that console release basket. And itās just not worth it compared to having an amazing PC game launch that holds itās playerbase captivated.
Exactly. Gameplay is king, but Fatshark has to get it together at some point.
It all depends how their Early Access development cycle goes. Iāve heard too many Early Access stories, I want to see Early Access results. But I will mark it down as good coop contender.
In one of their pre-release blog posts, they said that they want to add P2P hosting for private games, if I remember right. Hopefully thatās still their intention. Altho networking code generally is a bear to write, hopefully in this case they could copy and paste most of it from VT2ā¦?
Btw I made this really nice 50/50 mix of hopium and copium and Iām hitting it super hard right now, want some?
I see the Human Beans behind the company. I see what they are trying to do.
Yes, they have failed us and themselves here quite a bit. That doesnāt mean I necessarily have to give up on them or condemn them for it.
I know Darktide will be an awesome thing. I also understand all the critics who are let down because it currently still misses that mark by some metrics.
No I donāt get paid to put out these sentences I write, either. Itās just my personal opinion.
I donāt think Fatshark has such job positions available and even if they did, baseline PR work is not a good field to work in, itās not really that well-paid.
Itād be more passion work that people do out of conviction.
I predict DT will have zero further meaningful support but they keep servers running by Christmas. Cosmetics they have made will still be released, wind down DT, slow and quiet playerbase of 2-4k from now on. FS simply havenāt got the leadership team to pull off a real firebreak of a patch that draws a line and makes something new from the old.
