Arbites cosmetics are a scam

Personally, I think it’s important to be very clear on what’s scummy vs. what’s a scam, vs. what’s unethically manipulative vs. what’s this-is-everyday-marketing manipulative. (Perhaps only to highlight the unethical nature of commonly accepted marketing.) The distinctions do matter, and I can also say, category, that everybody doesn’t know.

One might be tempted to launch into a disquisition on the evolutionary origins of common sense, the dangers of imprecise language, and the poor position each leaves us in when dealing with both our complex technological civilization and, worse, other people - who are more complicated that one might guess, looking at their dumb faces, and who also tend to lie…

HOWEVER: I’ll just remind you that technically correct is the best kind of correct.

Voice of reason here. Why would you buy cosmetics without checking if you prefer the stuff you can unlock for free.

I will only forgive the terrible FOMO shop if they consistently offer events to get free Aquilas. If I can earn enough Aquilas to buy one premium set and a couple extras every year then Im happy.

So far that event has been but a single torchlight sinking in to the depths.
Im not religious, but I pray the Fatshark team see the need for more lights i.e. more events thru the year offering Aquilas as reward.

The imperial cult is just common sense. All other gods are false ofc…

I would like something different.

  • Prices cut by half
  • End of FOMO

I don’t care to earn aquila. but the prices are outrageous and I dislike totally the FOMO system.

Cant argue with that!

I would still be happy with free Aquilas tho.

FOMO shop has been a scam since day one. Overpriced recolours of the same items (sometimes just duplicate items sold as separate skins). It is literally worse than most of the F2P games.

F2P mobile games at least get updates every month for all the subscriptions and deals… Same cannot be said about us.

If this isn’t a scam then it’s impolite behavior.

Those that complain are free to leave anytime you like as there is nothing keeping you in game then. Maybe the forums will make a better place to correspond with those that actually like the game and don’t cry about a cosmetic or their class not having a shield, or this, or that and actually talk about constructive changes with constructive input.

With the delay needed for Fatshark to even consider a change…
Search the number of threads about the DS. Asking nicely and politely results in being ignored. Sad, but true.
As a result, players loose patience and start to be less… kind and nice with Fatshark.

If you want a second example, search for the threads about “locks”.

Telling players what they can and can’t criticize is a bold position to have.

Big difference between criticisms and plain crying. Like anything in life, those that complain about what they feel is wrong and needs to be fixed are those that have the problem in the first place. Those that choose not to spend money and move on are far better off than those that cry on forums.

With such reasoning… we would still have locks.
And to be honest, I have told complainers that they had to accept that it would not change (and I was wrong).
This is the fact they have not given up that made Fatshark changes that.

Counterpoint: it’s a multiplayer game and if everyone who hated FOMO left I’d have no one to play with.

I was responding to Raggy, who was responding to another user. Raggy’s point was that it’s a scam because they used to throw a weapon and a trinket in a bundle for the same price. I was responding to that primarily, and think I made my point clear: there are legitimate (imo) complaints about the FOMO, but I think it’s silly to fuss about the “value” of e-pants. This stuff is useless. Just dont buy the crap and enjoy the free content! Like come on!

What a load of horsesh!t.

If voicing dissatisfaction and critisism, what you dishonestly call “crying”, on a forum didn’t achieve anything, why would the devs create the forum in the first place?

What do you get out of saying such nonsense?

Silly in what way?

There are a few ways to answer that so I’m curious.

There is a desire to look cool online. If someone wants to buy cosmetics to satisfy that need but they can’t for a reason or another, that is worth pointing out and discussing. Especially to the people that are trying to make money off of you.

Silly because there is no value comparison to be made to anything else. It’s not food, it’s not tradable or sellable, and it’s not even something that adds hours to the game. It’s the absolute peak of first-world fluff. And what that cool piece of e-art costs is set by who is selling it. I wholly reject that it’s scummy to sell these things for $2-15 (or even more).
