Please fatshark, can you please actually care about the integrity of the cosmetics youre selling for premium?

we’ve been complaining about the quality of the commodore cosmetics for ages now and never once have you ever even touched upon it it at all in he sparse communication you actually do offer. the bi-monthly release schedule is bad enough but factoring the awful quality of the majority of them just makes it so much more unsatisfying and not worth my money (even though by all means with the amount of references we have for premium cosmetics it should be carzy easy to deliver).

krieger set for veteran is botched and a major letdown even though theyre considered “ultra premium” (which makes no sense due to how cheap and ugly the set actually is). pauldrons look taped on even though we have hundreds of references to pull from to get it right. arms are far too baggy and the tailcoat looks ugly as hell, the excuse of “well its hard to make physics work well enough that cloth physics doesnt clip”, thats a lie because sienna’s whole fashion shtick is cloth physics lmao.

scion helm for vet doesnt even have a neckguard and the leaked scion chest is by far the single worst botched job of something that SHOULD be beautiful. armor that only covers the upper chest leaving the belly wide open. arms missing forearm armor and an insanely disproportionate elbow guard. now you could say “well this is just something thats not finalized yet so it could look different”, dont play me guys, i know from your track record what we see is what we get.

there are far too many cosmetics that just fall miles short of being acceptable in terms of quality. now idk what studio you have thats putting out these godawful comsetics but please consider firing them to either find a much better studio capable of actually giving us quality looking gear or make the cosmetics yourself to ensure quality because you cant honestly look at the myriad of cosmetics youre selling for premium and say “yeah, this is what we consider to be premium”.

i have no clue why fatshark keeps ignoring this feedback about their store and the quality of it, im not asking for its removal lmao. i actually want to give them more money for cool skins.

No matter how many times we say
Hey you’ll literally get more money from us if you improve your quality of cosmetics, let us colour them and stop over charging

It’s the one thing never responded to by cms or anyone, at this point the store isn’t changing period, they don’t care how it preforms what what we say they are content to let it continue in it’s pathetic underperforming manner on a franchise and market where it could very easily make much more money and actually be liked by the community.

But alas this is a farshark game so logic isn’t allowed. Farshark are willing to the the one company that actually doesn’t want to do literally anything to actually capitalise on a very easy market.

They don’t do the cosmetics anymore is why.
It’s outsourced to a Chinese team. That then pitches it to GW and they nod it off.

That’s probably part of the issue as they have less control over the production process and communication with the artists/team. They might commission selected designs, and minor fixes are only issued at a later date if considered relevant.

In addition to what OP is (rightfully) asking for, I wish they’d produce both male and female variants where it’s artistically appropriate. I skipped several cosmetics because the female variant didn’t fit my expectations (mostly: boobectomy).

I guess their sales numbers are satisfying enough to not engage in additional quality efforts (?). And that would be a shame. V2 cosmetics are superb (and I bought many of them).

that GW approves some of these cosmetics is the worst part of this. Iam still a bit salty for what they did with the veteran krieg cosmetic :joy:

Not some. All of them. So this is on GW entirely. Cheaping out on brand cognition shrug. It is what it is.

I have been waiting for the cadian green set for a litteral year now, i want to give you my monney obesefish why wont you let me?

It isn’t anything new by them. However considering how easily people part with money when ‘Warhammer’ is attached its a crying shame they phoned in the shop as much as they did. Hence me only asking for Cadian stuff and sod off with your bad cosplays and stop making multiple weeks of ugly. Like 2 veteran hobo jackets in a row next to the Prince of Persia theme screams poor utilization. I don’t think I’ve seen any of those 3 sets in game.

I really find it funny that GW apparently denied shirtlessness as a cosmetic but approved the Wish.com Krieg and Cadian sets.

i don’t think this is happening at all, people cry about the quality and are still buying

just recently i’ve seen a post where someone said, im gonna paraphrase:
"this jacked had X flaw, and when i bought the new jacket it still had the flaw i was previously annoyed by. " proceed to rant about FS quality

wouldn’t surprise me at all if among all the self proclaimed abstainer’s who tell everybody that they don’t buy skins for any reason, secretly have atleast bought something for a couple bucks.

just think on how hated lootboxes are, yet people even those who hate them and wish them gone spend money on them.

I mean I’m among the people who say, at least now, that you shouldn’t buy anything from the store but I have bought stuff from it in the past and am not ashamed to admit so. Definitely part of it for me was when I also felt better about the game and saw cosmetics that I felt were good. The Blackstone Fortress Zealot set, Armageddon Steel Legion set for Vet, recently the green Bullgryn chest piece for Ogryn (I didn’t buy the full set and feel bad for people who did because it doesn’t match at all). This was mainly a little bit after the release of the game or after the class reworks happened.

However in general, I feel like that even uf they have a couple of really good updates I don’t want to buy anything. On top of the fact the store has gotten worse with the bundles and value they offer, as well as offering “premium premium” skins that are not worth the extra cost that I believe is exceptionally heinous.

well that’s the thing im saying, you say “not worth the cost” and value like it means much, everyone has different thresholds what you consider a fair price is already exceptionally “heinous” to someone else.
at the end of the day, increasing the prices does (im assuming) reflect on their bottom line.
most people have no problem spending money as long as it seems fair to them and their monetary situation, without any consideration of the bigger picture.
and look im not blaming anyone for it, but it hypocritical to actively supporting and being part of the system and then to position yourself as a abolitionist.

for your particular situation, you seem to think you’ve learned your lesson (?) not entirely sure how you meant it.
would that imply you also regretted your purchases?

just to be clear, i don’t wanna judge people (im no better after all) just Incentivise to reflect

Feel your response was a little out of order so I am going to start here. In general, I believe there are 2 main reasons a person would purchase a digital cosmetic with real money in a game:

  1. They like the way it looks, it matches their character, they wish to show off to other people etc. Cosmetic appeal.

  2. A somewhat more recent trend is to monetarily support the game so it will continue receiving support.

The cosmetics I bought were a combination of both of these factors. I believe they were of higher quality than most of the others, and I was happy with the state of the game at the time. Currently I, and others if the people I talk to and what I see on the Forums are anything to go by, I do not feel the cosmetics are justified by the 2 reasons I gave.

Sorry if I was a bit vague on what I meant. I am not opposed to spending money on cosmetics. I am happy with the purchases I made and do not regret them at all. It is that I feel the cosmetic quality has somewhat dropped and the game isn’t in a state where I want to support it monetarily at the moment.

I am not talking about the cost in a vacuum. Many people would say that cosmetic prices in DT are too much, and while I would agree with them that is subjective. The premium sets cost more, were the same quality as every other set (as far as objectively, clipping issues or anything massively noteworthy), didn’t look better and were somewhat ugly (this is my subjective opinion), and especially for the Krieg set what pissed me off was that for Ogryn and Veteran the helmet option that (most people would agree) looked better was sold separately from the bundle, at half the cost of the full bundle.

Still a bit upset that the bundles they sell no longer contain a weapon skin and charm like they did at launch.

Subjective opinion for me as well is the general lack of free cosmetics available that feels scummy. In their announcement yesterday they mentioned improvements on this front so I am tentatively hopeful.

I am not an abolitionist. I don’t think the cosmetic store needs to be removed. I would like either higher quality cosmetics, a better game state where I am more happy supporting, or lower prices (all three would be great, but at most I can only expect the first two).

I try not to judge people who do, but is something that sometimes I can’t help myself from doing. I want the system to be better, so it can be frustrating when someone supports it (this is mainly referring to the premium cosmetics). But yes I cannot be the judge of how someone spends their money, or if the value preposition is correct or not. I can only give my view on the subject and hope to convince people to agree with me.

my personal views differ here substantially, and i don’t mean to insult you or anyone, but i think this a poor excuse to rationalise one’s own wants.

i didn’t meant to imply that, its just a general observation of people both here on the forum and gaming in general (even myself to an extent).
i see myself opposed to every and all MTX including cosmetic purchases, that being said im certainly no stranger to the allure and did purchase things in ingame stores before and most likely will again.
it may not have been Darktides store since i’am quite disgruntled with Fatsharks development since the release of Darktide partly due to my biased almost fanboyish attitude towards them previously.

i’ve never bought anything from the store so i can’t make a judgment wether or not the upprice is or would be fair to me comparatively speaking.
but the community has pointed this out many times already, i’ve got no reason to distrust your and thier observations and im going to take your coin at face value here.

well companies hire professionals just to squeeze out as many impulse purchases as possible from their customers. everyone has their sirens call

He didn’t actually buy it he did clarify later in the post

good for him

with the “some” part i more talking about that its suprising that some of these gets approved by GW despite looking bad.

Pretty much this. It’s honestly lazy and it’s made me skip out on buying cosmetics.

Yeah
I have the feelings who ever makes the cosmetic models don’t actually look at them on the characters in game because of how many times very obvious clipping issues are missed and only get fixed when when people actually start using them in game.

Proportions are also out of whack for (some) cosmetics on female chars:

(Moebian 455th tanker jacket)

I doubt any artist would approve this and say it’s acceptable.

If the cosmetics don’t fit one gender well, they should limit them to just that gender.
Not just sell them and expect us to be happy with the result.
