It honestly isn’t. Every game gives you the option to opt out. Just FS in their infinite wisdom can’t seem to accomplish it. Especially since xbox has the ability to opt out.

In the absence of crossplay settings, if you do not want to play with someone, it’s not their job to avoid matchmaking with you.
Same way as if there was a Steam player you do not want to play with - you block them, not the other way around.
If crossplay settings are implemented for Steam, then it’s on you to opt out.
I don’t disagree with Steam having crossplay settings, but the way your message came across initially was almost like an instruction for console/controller players to not matchmake with you (rather than “I don’t want console/controller players in my games”). If that’s not how it was intended, then my bad for misinterpreting it.

The only argument I’m having here is with people claiming that controllers aren’t a liability at the highest difficulty. The general lack of reading comprehension is insane. It’s like people only read the first sentence and then reply whatever.
As I said, that comes across as an instruction IMO (as opposed to “I don’t want you ___ players in my games”). If that’s not your intention, that’s fine. Just reading it as I see it, and I apologise if my interpretation does not match your intent.
No worries. He’s honestly just a special case that is hard to talk to. IEspecially since he’s claiming to play controller on PC. A rare case where I can do nothing about it, even with an opt out. If I’d seen his ID I’d simply have added it to the block list.

I was the one who asked for a video just out of curiosity, of someone doing auric maelstrom using a controller. (Regular damnation isn’t really comparable.) I’m not arguing for disabling crossplay btw, personally I like having everyone in one big pool.
The main reason I asked about this is, I installed the “who are you” mod recently, and I’ve not been in a single successful auric maelstrom mission since then that included an Xbox player. So I’m wondering, if you had a team of 4 extremely skilled controller using players, could they realistically complete an auric maelstrom? How about a monstrosities auric maelstrom?
Btw thanks for uploading the vid. Sorry folks are slagging you. Imo you’re not playing badly. But as you say yourself, you’d probably have some real issues doing auric maelstroms – there’s an awful awful lot of crazy fast twitch stuff required there.
I stated this initially, and it stands. Youre just at best an average kbm player, while certainly well above average controller user. And lets be honest youre missing at least half your shots in that gameplay.
Just a little addition. Its kinda ironic that the pc player that choses to use controller also has motion blur enabled

I’m not gonna say I did the best out of the 4, but I can certainly say I was not the worst. I think everyone else went down 3-4 times and one guy died once if I remember correctly. I went down 1 time.
Tbh, I knew right from the loading screen it was gonna be an easy game…we had a great team comp. One of each class!
So if we had 4 people who were similarly skilled as me (MNK or controller obviously), I think we’d do as good, if not better than this run.
And auric is definitely harder but if I had this same team comp, I also think it would be a pretty good run. And if I go on discord and actually find a good group that talks? Pfft ez pz. Because…see…I know that there are tons of variables to look for in this game and I’ve never once looked for if they are on Xbox or pc

Not the best data in the world, but Reddit has a poll recently about difficulty and I swear heresy was the most popular. So you are either very wrong or exaggerating a lot. I think it’s fair to say I’m in the top 10-20% of all players, just like anyone would be if you can regularly do damnation/auric. That sound like a fair thing to assume?
Maybe so. I might be overestimating the importance of fast twitch aiming etc. I guess the wildcard here is how good your teammates are, but sure, drop into an auric maelstrom and see how it goes. Pick a monstrous specialists mission if you’re really feeling bold!

I’ve done those and I didn’t thing they were horrible. Tbh the monstrosities were one of the hardest parts for me in the game and I had to google how to tackle them lol
Kinda pain in the butt for my zealot even now, but I’ve learned to let my teammates deal with them and I’ll take care of the adds. Psyker and vet I felt like I contributed a lot…zealot I just felt like melee sucks for them and I think I just recently got the dodge timing down.
I’ve only ever doen maelstrom twice I think, and the biggest difference I remember was it just plays differently which I’m not used to. I kinda think if I start playing it a lot I can start getting better at it…it’s just a little too hectic for my usual “smoke and chill” nightly damnation runs lol
Edit: sorry I didn’t see that was lights out. I absolutely hate that and fog. It’s just a horrible experience without a flashlight and I like the auto guns more than the lasgun. I thought the monstrous specials was cool though.

Yea I only picked the wounds thing because I don’t really like the other stuff and it was my last 2 points…I tried the whole “immune to range while sprinting” one but it costs 4 points for me and it doesn’t make me immune! I was expecting to always be immune while sprinting and it is definitely not lol
I didn’t even need the extra wounds on that mission but auric and stuff like I’ve used them before.
But yea my build is usually crit a lot so my kit is always up. I feel like I spam my ult but if you say I wasn’t, then I’m sure you are right
Edit: I should also say I’ve played this game for around 300 hours so far so I definitely am not an expert or anything. I’ve always done the evis on my zealot because I love how it handles, but I honestly don’t know much about it.
Kinda funny, but I always thought the heavy swing did more damage, but according to the patch 13 notes it only just does more cleave! So I was messing up there for liek a whole year lol. I usually try to do one heavy swing occasionally or if there a horde I’ll do it to proc that oen blessing that is liek “hit 3 peopel and get 30% more power”. I THINK regular attacks also hit 3 peopel but I can’t prove it in my meatvtinder consistently so I do heavy attacks sometimes lol
I think they’re fun. I mostly do auric maelstroms these days, to me the variety in encounters is head-and-shoulders more interesting than what you get in normal missions. But ymmv.
Yea, tbh I wasn’t expecting you to go and record videos especially for this (altho appreciate the effort fo sho), I was more asking if there are streamers etc who use controllers and knock out aurics regularly – that would prove the point pretty conclusively imo. But fwiw, if you actually did want to take on the sisyphean task – not saying you should lol – afaik I-II-V-E-G is generally considered the hardest auric maelstrom condition (altho I-II and A-I-II are not far behind imo). So if you or anyone else is able to do those comfortably on a controller, it’d be hard for anyone to say that controller is a meaningful handicap!
My take: controller is a handicap which can be (at least partially) mitigated with situational awareness. Yeah, you can’t fast twitch 180 no scope headshot that trapper behind a wall of groaners… but if you’ve got a good enough map of what’s happening in your head, maybe you can position yourself so that you’ve already got that shot lined up and clear.
Well lights out is a whole other bag of worms, but fwiw the infantry autoguns have lights on em.

Maelstrom definitely has the best variety for sure
I like more “sniping guns” in DT so I usually stick with shotguns,headhunters,lasgun,etc
And I think a controller is a handicap if it makes you play worse. MNK is a handicap for me in fps because it makes me play worse. Know what I mean? Believe me, I know MNK is regarded as superior so I’ve tried it many times in a fps….I hate it lol
