PC players deserve the ability to disable crossplay

Rant ahead, TLDR: It is unfair console players may disable crossplay with PC players but PC players cannot

Since the release on X-Box and the influx of new players on console the quality of the community has ‘suffered’ to say the least.

My first encounter with a console player was a lv 23 priest on Heresy who died and was rescued no less than three times, afterwards when I attempted to compliment him, I was told to ‘Suck it nerd’.

It’s only gotten worse since.

Whenever I see someone running ahead, ignoring the group, attempting to speed run like it’s CoD it is almost always universally a console player. Usually a zealot but that’s another rant for another day. More often than not they are also rude, greedy, little ammo hogs with no regard for team play.

Gentle corrections, roleplay, and advice is often at best outright ignored, at worse trashed.

The two most recent offenders that have sent me here were exceptionally annoying. I had a psyker who died no less than five times, when his buddy refused to drop ammo at the finale of the run and I asked in character if he was holding onto it for luck, I was met with ridicule and told I was on my last two mags as a support ‘cover fire’ build was a ‘skill issue’ by this little twerp I had just carried through a run.

The second was when a zealot with a relic ability that they used ONCE the entire match blamed me for the wipe after my psyker got ‘spike hit’ and downed causing cascade failure among the rest of the trio who all decided that +1 wound curios on Hersey wasn’t needed at their meager low 20 levels. I was clearly at fault for not smiting enough, yes, clearly.

This is getting absolutely obnoxious. It has gotten better since this game went off gamepass but the amount of ignorant little karkers still remains high. Ever since crossplay was implemented I have also noticed the amount of times I get ‘spike hit’: being hit for multiple hits in one attack has gone from occasionally to almost every other hit. Let’s not even talk about the fact you can clearly tell when someones on a controller from the amount of input lag they suffer.

The fact two that console players can choose to disable crossplay is the icing on the cake. They are allowed to decide if they don’t want to play with us, but we have to carry them. Period.

I understand new players is always a good thing, more money for the devs and such yes, but for the love of the throne, at least give us the option to opt out if we choose.

I love your game, I really do, but I don’t love little CoD Timmy’s telling me to ‘Git Gud’ after I rescue them for the sixth time in a match.

Imo this is a separate and entirely legitimate bug that has nothing to do with crossplay. Recently I’ve noticed that getting instagibbed by one or two random trash mobs behind you is a thing. Surely this is a bug

Most of your post has nothing to do with specifically Xbox players, except this straight lie. Because console players - and this is an Xbox exclusive at this point - have no such option.

On Steam: Players can matchmake, add friends, and join players from Steam and the Microsoft Store, in our Cross-Network Servers. Players cannot opt out of Crossplay.

On the MS Store and Xbox Series X|S: Players can matchmake, add friends, and join players from all supported networks (Steam and XBL), in our Cross-Network Servers. Players can opt in/out of this feature via the account settings, in which case they will matchmake, add friends and join players only within XBL servers.

Do basic research before saying something stupid.

I just find very unfair that only console players can disable the crossplay

Wait, what? I just thought it was something inherent to playing Vet. You’re telling me enemy mobs aren’t supposed to do 80+ damage in a single hit on Damnation?

Happens on Hersey and on down too, I’ve seen players get downed by a single back attack by trash on Malice.

It’s something my friends and I have noticed since the patch. Seems to mostly happen when there’s only a couple trash mobs (bruisers usually?) behind you. They club you for a wild amount of damage and you get downed almost immediately even if you have full toughness. It’s forced me to adopt a sort of hyper mobile, constantly doing 180 degree lookbacks, always hold block if still, always dodging even if nothing seems to be around sort of playstyle. (I kind of played this way anyway, but it’s become more of a necessity since the patch…)

If this is a bug, I suspect it’s something like, certain melee attacks aren’t taking toughness into account properly, and doing 100% health damage

This is best kept to yourself. Nobody likes this, console player or otherwise. You’re asking to get abused by doing it.

It will affect all your games on this account. I admit I was wrong though. Still not a very useful switch for Xbox users since it’s global.

And again, these arguments of yours have loose connection to the console users. It’s basically rant about how bad these players. In PvE people rant about how console players suck, in PvP the same people rant on how the autoaim is op. This has strong connection on which side of the fence you are.

And lags and bugs, I would argue it has connection to the console version since Xbox is basically a windows machine running games via directx.

lol, something tells me you’re not quite so innocent with your “gentle” advice as you want people here to think.

Also, roleplaying is pretty cringe to people who don’t do it. Either find some people to do it with or accept that some people aren’t going to respond well to you.

OP is clearly a liar. no console player notices the chat, let alone comments.

At this point it’s pure generalizing mistake. So my conclusion would be it’s just a skill issue. You’ve been winning the game when it was only skilled hardcore players in the game, once it gained wider audience your win rate dropped and you start blaming everybody but yourself.

As long as disgusting elitism is the reason why you want it, there should not be an opt out option. As soon as you just want it for the choice (let’s face it, your elitism will never disappear) then you will “deserve” the option.

Edit: after reading the replies, you are a toxic mess, OP…

Others might pretend like they’re not a burden and that they simply want choice but I’ll be honest:

Console players are to a Darktide team what a bike helmet is to an astronaut.

Absolutely uselss at best and a dead weight pulling you down at worst.

So let me be rid of them.

i agree this is why i leave the match if there are more than 1 consolers . . .
you que up, you are expected to pull your weight
go ahead and trashtalk to him when he cant carry feeders

Console/WinPC get the choice, because Microsoft require it

And no, this is not me saying “I don’t think Steam should get crossplay opt-out”, but I feel like far too many people perceive the crossplay option as some sort of preferential treatment.

It’s basically rant about how bad these players.

Yeah, because why should people have to put up with carrying bad players all the time?

Player skill doesn’t depend on the platform, I’ve seen so much PC players playing in Call of Duty mode in Auric Damnation, it’s enough for a separate server.

Stop it.
Controllers are superior to mouse and keyboard for racing games, but controller users are on average far worse performers in games like darktide.

Everybody knows it.
