Don’t care if you get triggered by this, as many most likely will, but console players are simply not up to snuff for auric games.
And they never will be as long as they are using controllers, which is pretty much the worst device for 1st person shooters(plus hacking in this case) ever invented. So wth this has to be mentioned is beyond me.
Been really annoyed by the influx of console players this last week. They all move slow and clunky like geriatric people who need a diaper change or something. They simply can’t keep up on auric and every mission goes horribly wrong when 2 or god forbid 3 of them are on your team.
I mean they should be able to have their fun too of course but do it on separate servers from the PC players please, because now it’s just spoiling my fun way too often.
Give PC players an option to opt out of crossplay just like Xbox players it’s only fair!
PS: And spare me the replies with made up stories about how good console players are and that they can do just as well. You’re just not living on the same planet as the rest of us, and don’t deserve to be taken serious.
I can touch type, quickly , and do so as my primary way of communicating. But I’m acutely aware that XBOX players probably (? definitely ?) cannot read our comments. Certainly can’t reply to them. And it seems player marked waypoints are a cryptic challenge beyond half the XBOX player base, so that doesn’t work either.
I think deep down, I just resent being used as “content” for the XBOX community. I played a lot of Planetside2 (as a paying player), and non-paying players there were clearly being used as fodder for high paying whales. That’s how I feel here as a Beta Darktide player; that all my time in game is being converted now to cash for FatShark. I don’t feel bad that I’ve personally lost out to date: I’ve had my money’s worth easily. But I feel like, right now, I’m being used to prop up a cash cow.
You are acutely aware of what seems to be (from a quick search) an incorrect assumption.
And your point about being “content” for new players (many of whom aren’t even on Xbox) is, I’m sorry to say, as delusional as the nonsense mentioned previously about the “free” aquillas for Xbox players (which was a temporary promotion almost definitely designed to encourage Gamepass players to give Fatshark some cash directly).
There’s a simple solution for anyone who cannot be bothered to play with less-skilled players who may not communicate well: get friends or get on the official Discord to make a premade.
And if neither of those things work for ya, the “Merge Striketeams” functionality does work now, so you can try to hold onto any group that’ll have you.
Or, alternatively, please PLEASE download the mod I posted earlier. It works great for weeding out negative players.
Unfortunately there is a shocking percentage of PC players using controller toys to play the game. And yup, nearly all of them are bad. Not much to be done about it, unfortunately.
I wasn’t - that is a fair call. Thank you. I hadn’t really looked.
I wasn’t sure; just that in games I’d had there were players that just didn’t respond to repeated chat prompts (e.g. “Ammo pack here”). But I’m also aware that could just be that English isn’t everyone’s first/second/any language. And that’s okay. Good to know they’re visible, even if realistically impossible to text-reply to (and people don’t use mics for the most part).
On your point about being delusional. I think I’ll let you have that one, and just let it pass, rather than argue. I don’t need to win an argument. But I’d suggest it’s worth you considering again why all other platforms can opt out of cross play except Steam players. Put a business hat on and think why that may be.
I was about to ask if we know if the text chat and VOIP is part of the crossplay features or did Fatshark pull a fast one and didn’t bother to address that.
It was unkind of me to use such harsh language. I apologize.
And I did a bad job of explaining myself. My points is: it is unhealthy for anyone to allow their enjoyment of something to suffer because of what others have (e.g. “free” aquillas or the priceless privilege of having a serious pro carry a match to victory).
And it’s nonsensical (and unhealthy) to ignore that there are perfectly and easily accessible ways to bypass the issue of playing with ANY type of person you don’t want to game with: get on the Discord or make a premade some other way.
As for why crossplay is the way it is, I think it’s simple: Microsoft, being one of the biggest companies in the world, exerts massive pressure on developers to deliver what they consider a 1st-class experience for their customers (where they can opt in/out of crossplay, depending on their preferences, as a matter of policy). And, since Steam doesn’t enforce the same policy, it seems sensible to me that FatShark might not offer that same feature for Steam players if FS feels that’s better for the game/players.
Oh MAN, don’t get me started! Did you know that there are like, DISABLED people who play this game using “controller toys” that they control WITH THEIR MOUTHS?! GROSS! Hopefully the mod I posted will have options for people who don’t want to play with controller n00bs soon!
Sarcasm obviously, but I just gotta dunk on ol’ Mr. Forum here who has been dumping the hottest of hot takes on this forum for FIVE+ years while allegedly enjoying SOMEthing that FatShark makes and continuing to fund their “misadventures” in game-making.
And for the record, I play with a Steam Controller. Cash me on the top of the scoreboard, bro. I’ll share my god tier gyro control scheme with you if you want.
