About sexist and rude peoples

yeah, confirmed. Some dude was FF me like crazy in the last 100 meters of a mission after being utterly useless the whole game and causing problems. Tried kicking him at the end it wasn’t an option.

There are some people like that.

I played a Quickplay yesterday, and ended up in Empire in Flames. But the game put me in the Teleport circle right at the end of the match… I was like huh? well ok.

But some guy just bitched up a storm about it, about how I was looking for the carry.

I was just sitting back going Dude… get real, I don’t have any control over where they put me in a Quck Play, just because you’re cheezed off it isn’t going to change anything.

No you didn’t “carry me” I can pull my wieght just fine. But that didn’t stop the accusations from flying… again some dude living in his own little world and making crap up in his own little mind.

You can’t possibly expect a report function in a non competitive game. FS didn’t even add an indicator of who’s talking in voice, so I’m 100% sure there will never be a report function. Just mute the player and ignore them. If you can’t handle childish insults over chat then just find another game.

I do that all the time when I join a group with some idiot shouting over the VC trying to announce how randumb/edgy/funny he is or some Russian/Ukrainian stopping every 10 seconds to type in Cyrillic thinking that everyone must obviously understand their language.

For all online games there’s a statement telling you that the developers are NOT responsible for your online interaction, instead of looking for someone to shield you form unpleasant things it’s best to learn to deal with them. Tugging at someones hand, pointing your finger and saying “please fix my problem” is just childish.

(I sense a white knight flag gathering incoming)

Is it weird that when I first read the title of this post the other day, I thought it said “About sexy and nude peoples”.

Needless to say, I was disappointed.

It’s very important to tell random strangers how you feel

And that relates to someone calling you names in an online video game exactly how?

Reality… it doesn’t. So stop making strawman arguments.

Here’s reality… you’re no different just because you’re female. Once you accept that things will be a lot smoother for you.

The people on the internet will throw all kinds of crazy F’d up crap at you on the internet, regardless of whether you’re a man, women, black, white, or purple.

They don’t give a damn, and they ARE out to hurt your feelings and generally crap on you or spew stupid crap at you. And shovel their own petty BS on you regardless. They’re stupid, self centered, and annoying as hell. And they don’t care who you are or what you are.

And everyone has to put up with it. Its going to happen to you whether you want it to or not.

The only thing you can really do is flip them the bird, or throw it back at them.

But don’t pretend you’re magically or mysteriously different than anyone else just because you’re a girl.

But isn’t the whole point of this post, that women get treated differently just because they are women.
I never got kicked from a game because im a guy so far.

If you want to be treated like a normal human, behave like a normal human.
Protipp:
If a guy would act like you acted here, people wouldn’t bother to remove him out of their games either. Its not your gender, its your personality. You are the one spinning around your chromosomes. No one else gives a super happ bunny rabbit about it, red cheeks.
So your reaction to critic on your super biased and obviously not even completly true story is to assume that people who don’t pat your back if you are upset about meanies in a GAME (who btw hadn’t a chance to tell their side of the story) are also totally ok with non consensual coitus (seriously?) in the real world? WHAT THE SUPER HAPPY BUNNY RABBIT?
And I wouldn’t bother because this is the internet and humanity is nuts but people like you are the reason that womens rights made so many steps backwards in the last decade. People who blatantly abuse sensible topics like that for their manipulative goals in personal arguments. I know, no one is actually taking this serious but throw a tantrum like that often enough, loud enough and people will do someday, out of fear, out of weariness whatever but they will and we get kicked back to “man dem wimin are just crazy” in the end.
Consider that.

As a guy, I have gotten kicked at least 3 times so far. It happens.

Only because youre a guy? Not because of an other reason? i doubt that a little bit

(I don’t want to imply that there are reasons to kick you)

I misread your post. No it was not because I was a guy - it was because i was drunk.

To be fair though - boys (squeekers as some people call them) with really high voices also often face a similar issue. So it is not just limited to females.

Also drunkards like myself have to face this problem…

You’ll meet toxic people in any game. I just start a new game fast and try to play with people I’ve got added.

Ok what about the following system:

At the end of a match you can up or downvote other players. You won’t be able to see if you got up or downvoted and you will never see youre overall up/downvote ranking.
But you will get matched with people with a similar ratio. To prevent people getting bat rankings, only because they played with toxic people, who downvote everyone, there are following rules.

  1. Votes from people who constanly downvote other players count less.
  2. You need to get a specific amount of votes, maybe 20, before you get ranked. So lets say you had bad luck and got matched with two very toxic groups and collected 6 downvotes. Thats not a big problem because you still need 14 more votes. (Also its very likely that their downvotes already don’t count that much anymore.)
  3. You automatically get an upvote if you played several rounds without getting a downvoted.
  4. You can’t get voted from the same player several times.

Of course it is still very likely that even very nice player get negative up/downvote ratios, because it is more likely to get a downvote because you played not very good in a round, than getting an upvote for being frindly, or not saying anything bad. But keep in mind this is the same for every player. So even if every player has a negative ratio, it doesn’t mather because the ratio of really toxic player will still be far worse.
Also we can implement some additional rules.

  1. Youre downvote will count more if you upvote from time to time.
  2. You can’t upvote people from youre steamfriend list.
  3. If you think you got a bad rating because you have been ulucky and got matched with toxic player, you can request a new rating once in a month.

Like i said nobody will ever see youre rating. I think after some time everybody will have the average rating he “deserves”. Of course if there are not enough people with youre rating online when you want to play, you still will get matched with people who have a different rating than you.

At last i want to say that i know FS is very busy at the moment with other stuff. So this voting system i suggest, should really not have a high priority.

Keep in mind, many people will downvote you if you play poorly. So if you are a bad player at the game, you will end up being grouped up with toxic people even if you are not toxic yourself. This will be really bad for new players.

Edit: Even if it says “it is against the rules to downvote for people playing poorly” people will still do this. The system will be abused.

Edit 2: Look at Overwatch. If you play poorly, people will report you for “poor teamwork”. i think they ended up removing that option from the reporting feature so people just switched over to reporting you under the “throwing/griefing” option. The system gets abused.

I like games with a commendation system but I don’t think it’s a good idea to have it affect matchmaking. It should also be positive or no feedback. Ie. People pick one player to commend at the end, but they don’t have to, and everyone has a number on their profile indicating how many commendations they’ve received.

I think FFXIV does it. I hate that game now but I feel that was a nice, positive mechanic that encourages people to always be professional and try their best.

Depends how big of a problem it is in correlation with Quickplay.

But you’re right, and atleast we have mute features.

Yeah i think thats the biggest problem of a voting system like that.
But:

  • People who downvote player for playing poorly are mostly people who generally downvote others very often. So it is very likely that their vote won’t count much.
  • People who constantly play bad should really switch to an other difficulty

Also i would never downvote a player only because he played bad. But i even would upvote someone if he said something like “sorry i f***ed this up”. And i guess im not the only one. Today i played with a bardin who died two times. First he got killed by a chaos spawn and then he made a unlucky jump before a point of no return and fell down a cliff. Because he was the last player nobody could pull him up. We lost a grim and a tome because of that. Still nobody was mad and it was even funny.
So i think even if you are not a good player, if you don’t always play on difficultys you are not ready for, youre average rating will still not be that bad.

But i guess we will only know that, if we could test a rating like that

Upvotes could unlock different frames. Once you have voted for a person you can’t vote for them again. No such thing as a downvote. Just reward good behaviour.

If a voting system were to be implemented then, I recommend not letting people vote on recruit difficulty. That way it protects new players. The reason is, a new player (whom does not yet know how to block), will be a red flag for people to downvote him/her. Even people whom do not normally downvote people may decide to downvote someone if they see that person playing really poorly and costing everyone the game.
