A little bit of Patience until next Community Update

People have been patient while the game was delayed over and over.

Those of us who’ve been here through v2 and longer have used up all patience and its not even bugs or balance- its a genuinely broken game. It is not outrageous to expect a studio that has massively increased its staffing level and delayed the game twice to actually deliver on what they said would happen. Being patient works if something fundamentally different and better happens this month.

I suppose we should’ve known better. Cue @OrsonMaxwell turning up with Michael Cain meme. I bloody told you!

How would a severe depletion of money via refunds help anything? The studio has to pay people to work to fix the game. I’m not 100% pulling the plug on Darktide as a viable game yet. If they can turn around the pos that was Cyberpunk, Darktide can do the same.

I understand, and I think people may have been misinterpreting my post a bit. I’m not trying to say that we should all just sit back and let FS fix it on their own time. I was more saying just give a couple days/this week for them to come back from the Holidays before getting super upset.

Dude, give me a break. I remember when Fatshark went months not saying anything during Vermintide 2 when they focused on Console release. The game had issues and they ignored in order to focus on consoles, what a joke. Excuse me for not trusting this developer.

If we don’t get anything this week, sure I’ll be right with you. While I played some VT 2 I never followed the development closely so I’m not speaking from experience. Just coming back from the Holidays, and making a comprehensive enough community post that will appease the most amount of people, as well as a suitable “gameplan” probably isn’t the easiest thing to organize in just a couple days. If the Community Update is anemic then I’ll let you tell me “told you so.”

That was not my intention. This post was mainly because I was seeing people begging for a community update immediately . Again coming off holidays, and trying to fix this game is a somewhat monumental task. Not asking people to stop criticizing or even neccesarily asking for faster communications, just to be just a bit more civil. Again I get the frustration and it’s justified, but when I see people type in all caps for a Community post immediately it makes me cringe.

The very fact that people are still posting suggests they still care and are still waiting for improvements. That’s patience. Some people may have a more acerbic base level of patience than others, and we can’t simply stop mentioning that things are broken until we get acknowledgement of the things we keep mentioning.

Look, there’s never a good time for wishing harm on families and so on, but that’s not being impatient that’s just being a troll. Trolls are like the tide and ain’t none of us here qualified to be Canute.

And that’s good! I think signal boosting the bigger issues the game has is important and needs to be done. I just think it might take a little bit before we get a full official response addressing all the issues the game has, and some people take it a bit too far. Obviously people are passionate about what this game can be past the flaws, but a little restraint at times isn’t unwarranted.

There’s a difference between caring if a product is finished and demanding retribution for being slighted because a product launch didn’t go as expected. A lot people want blood and are being very Karenish about it, which I assume is what this post was aimed at. It’s pretty goofy and sad to go beyond “Wow, this isn’t want I wanted, I’m outie. Be back if this gets better.” Some people who don’t even own the game are still on here in every thread letting us know how much they hate FS and how much FS is the devil and they should collapse under a building fire. It’s sad.

Since when is “communicate with us and implement the promised features” is “retribution”?

I have yet to see such a post, much less multiple of them where it would be even worth considering that as a sentiment held by those unhappy with the game.

Don’t make things up, it’s unseemly.

And even if there are they’d get flagged and removed by the moderator. As they’re being unreasonable.

There’s an entire thread about how the company should go under full of people going full Karen lol

There’s quite a difference between “FatShark is sleazy and deserves to go broke” and “they should collapse under a building fire”.

I think you should stop making up stuff, it makes you look like a fool.

It’s hyperbole to demonstrate how ridiculous those people sound to me. See how that works?

I’m not sure I’d want to use figurative language for they conveyance of examples here. Certainly some people have been inappropriately aggressive with their language (whether they genuinely wish their stated harm or it’s just ignorant internet rantings I am not possessed of the facts to judge), but that’s not really fair to use to paint the majority of the community posting here. Hyperbole is best used in comedic or antagonistic posts, just like a sardonic tone.

Anyway. The majority of posts that I’ve read, that aren’t simply mentally discarded as trolling at least, are simply of unhappy and dissatisfied people with broken or, mostly, incomplete/unfinished products that are explaining their frustration and expectation for an actual whole game. They are being patient, they have been patient, but they are making sure that the signal is not attenuated,. not lost, not buried under the “nah this is fine” of other people who perhaps are satisfied with the lesser product that has been delivered.

Yes of course the crew deserve their holiday time off, but that time has absolutely ended now. It’s the 10th of January (as of this post) and until the community hears something, anything, addressed specifically to our concerns more than “the sharks are back in the tank, hold on”, the volume of complaint is unlikely to decrease.

So, you’re making stuff up.

I guess in that case, the way the devs stay silent and expect me to give them money for half finished products, they must want to torture mel and force me to give them all my money, and probably force themselves on my wife as well.

Did you try reading the thread? Original post starts with:

The piece he’s talking about is one where both the CEO and studio heads were downplaying the real problems Darktide has.

Then followed up by:

This sounds very reasonable to me. A fan whose been with this studio since the Vermintide days is airing his complete disillusionment after that PR piece, a piece, I must say, was ridiculous; and remember that was after that other interview where the CEO gave an embarrassing excuse for MTX. So far, these are the only two instances where management engaged with the community after Darktide’s release and, for lack of a better word, they’ve been unsatisfactory for the community. Besides that, communication from them has been silent with Community Manager being used a middle man to rely information.

See this nuance is important as the context of it explains the thread’s purpose and why the user is upset. More importantly, the user isn’t requesting for the developer to, and I quote,“collapse under a building fire” - see how silly this sounds when you review the material in which this is targeted at.

All of that makes sense, really I think that if the conversations about potential fixes really did only start after break (with unofficial discussions taking place over the holiday break) that a bit of time for them to have a coherent post may be warranted. Obviously all of this should have happened awhile ago, but it is what it is. Not asking people to stop criticizing the game, just be realistic for when we get the next CU.
