You really shouldn’t let this live rent free in your head.
You sound like you want to tied them up and do bad things to them.
Hyperbolically of course.
Please stop reading my blog to people, it’s not for everyone.
Preach. God i could not agree more. I don’t know when this mindset started but it’s really getting old. It’s why half of the media that is released recently is total garbage.
Devs, movie studios, show runners, and what ever else know they can get their hands on an ip people like and then totally mail it in because they know the it alone will have people going “well i like developer x so everything they make must be good”
The concept of taking all this time during the holidays is a pretty foreign one to most Americans sadly but going totally radio silent other than hey it’s the holidays we’ll be back sooner or later probably wasn’t the best idea
The same reason why I’ve been referring to darktide as a “product” and not a game, especially since ‘management’ would likely also consider it as such.
You mean our patience like patience we had for 2 delays of game in hope to get FINISHED game at launch?
So they release broken unfinished game and you ask me for more patience? In the name of what? What did they do to deserve my patience YET AGAIN?
The audacity of this post jesus…
I hope that in the future, you will come to a similar conclusion about the relationship between you and Fatshark as Periander did:
I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. I’m not sayinf wait for them to make a better game, I’m saying just wait a bit after the holiday break for a community update.
Like I’ve veen saying, I’m not saying have patience for them to fix the game, just a bit until after the holiday break for them to get fully running again.
I have been waiting patiently for some positive news from fatshark. Honestly the timetable has been a disaster. If you are going to release the game over a major Holliday so that people buy it and play it, I think some modicum of support is warranted?
I’ve been checking for update, or community News or content and there has been depressingly little.
I want this game to succeed but for that to happen that shark needs to put in some time and effort and money to turn this thing around
Let’s just say the 5 kilometer-long list of acknowledged but unfixed bugs didn’t get any shorter on its own over the holidays
We get what you’re saying, we’re just not going to afford them any patience.
They’ve earned nothing but disdain from us.
Honestly, that’s probably a fair sentiment. I’m still extremely angry over the amount of paid vs earnable cosmetics. I would just rather have a well thought out, and mostly stable update/fix over a rushed one.
They should have released it after 3 kings day
Good, use that hate. Channel it.
No.
Knowing that the majority of your staff will go on holiday, it is simply irresponsible to release a product of which EVERYONE has positive knowledge about its unfinished status, especially if it is customary for Swedes to go on vacation/holiday during that time.
Maybe it came as a surprise to FS, but I hear Christmas is not only every year, it is also always on the same date!
The harsh reality is that none of the issues we are waiting with baited breathe for a “community update” to address suddenly popped into existence during the holidays. All of the key issues go back to very beginning: the closed beta test (see this post from mid-October)
People complained about the games issues and potential pitfalls ad nauseam during the closed beta test and were told “oh this is just a beta, don’t get all worked up, you’ll see!”
People complained about the game’s issues during the pre-launch beta when it was even more clear that the issues persisted. And we’re talking about deep system design issues in progression, crafting, missions, rewards, gearing. All of it. And we were told over and over “this is just a pre-launch beta, you’ll see the full release will be great!”
Of course the game released with basically two changes: detailed item stats (much appreciated at the time) and a cash shop. Nothing else design-wise changed in the slightest and communications since have just doubled down on “design intent” deflections.
So the lack of communication on these issues has nothing to do with the holidays, because these issues have been flagged over and over again since OCTOBER by people that care about this game. Which means we’re basically staring at THREE MONTHS OF SILENCE about this.
WTF had the design team being doing during this whole 3-month time outside of the two weeks or so of holiday vacation? The only things I’ve seen are a couple of puff piece interviews and community updates that are mind-numbingly tone deaf.
So I’m not mad about not having a response during the “holidays”. I’m mad that FS has had THREE MONTHS to “have a nice internal chat about what the community is saying” and for all intents and purposes it seems that is still barely getting started. Huh? Your game is at like a 45% Steam rating! Get a clue!
This is actually pleases Victor!
