A little bit of Patience until next Community Update

honestly i think they should just take down the game from steam, stick a q4 2023 tag on it, and work on it again

They could stick an early access tag on it and issue me a refund.

tbh ive been offered help with a refund about 5 times in the forums

Honestly a refund for the game would be good if we keep the game, too. I’d take it, especially since I gave them money for Aquillas (yeah, I got excited and am an idiot–which I’m happy to take the hit on if they’d refund me for the game)… It would definitely incentivize me to purchase aquillas again in the future if this mess progresses to a reasonable state.

If this were FTP or early access, genuinely none of us would be hitting so hard about the glaring problems… but they went and claimed their half-baked game was a full-release ready for retail and it just isn’t.

Which really is my main problem with the game.

I’ve bought early access games before, and some have been abandoned. I own that, I knew what I was getting myself into.

No, that was a bad choice and shouldn’t have happened. I assume that with the delays, investors and other parties (Tencent, GW, FS Executives) wanted/were expected to provide a return on investment, and Holiday release window was the best time for that.

Whatever the case the past is in the past, we can’t go back and change it. It was a bad, anti-customer choice but it happened. I think waiting to see what the next Community Update holds, and whether or not it is satisfactory, is better than needlessly begging for one immediately. Not trying to be rude etc, but I think it would help.

It looks like Fatshark got hit by two major post launch delays slowing content updates.

The timetable they released for launch features was a lot faster than what we got, and with how many bugs and crashes there were at launch, I think they had to abandon a lot of content they wanted to put out to spend more time working on the games stability. It’s a lot more stable than it was for a wider number of players, but they ran out of time before the holidays to do much else.

Now that they’re coming back from break, they not only have to keep tinkering with stability issues and get on with the planned feature updates, they also have to contend with a major negative reaction to their games core systems. So now they have to consider taking entire pillars of the games design intent back to the drawing board and starting the development process over for things like crafting and player progression.

Yeah, management dug their own hole here, but it’s not going to be easy to dig their way out.

Preferably Q3 though, so that they don’t re-release it a few weeks before Christmas.

If we did not have patience, we wouldn’t still be here waiting and asking for information.

What your really asking is for people to be quiet about their dislike of the game mechanics and fatsharks handling of things until they put out a notice.

This is the wrong message to be telling people. Fatshark need to be flooded with a constant stream of critical feedback and complaints so they know exactly what is most pressing and what people care about most. People should not stop giving feedback about their frustrations just because they went on holiday, this is a forum, it’ll be here when they return

You know, I have spent time with my loved ones at christmas and I am at work since january 2th.
And guess what FS said… we would have crafting system before the end of the year…
and guess what… we did not.

Let’s wait next annoncement… but if it is that they are discussing all of them sitted around a fire… I don’t think this would be acceptable.
Honnestly, what I think is really needed is crafting and fixing crash for people that encounter them. I do not get crash but only cause I unactivated RTX. With RTX on I get constant crashes.
But, I do not care if they don’t give me RTX bt give me crafting.

I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnttttttttttt CRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAFTING

I’m sure the game was shipped when it was for fiscal reasons. They needed it on the books for 2022. I have no idea what their economical situation is, but I hope it’s solid.

The game is already quite late, and the financials would not have been planned around one delay, let alone three. I do wonder if they’ve been dragging out development to forestall any end of development layoffs which may be on the cards.

Oh please, don’t come with the “gamers” argument now, if I sell you a car that barely works, stops every now and then and is missing half its features, then I do nothing about it for 2 months you’ll be far more pissed than the “gamers” here.

I did give them from launch until now. It doesn’t take more than a month for them to say anything at all to help show players this isn’t just a cash grab.

With the Tencent dude on the board now you are probably 100% correct.

People putting way too much hope in the magical community update

Realistically game is in early access state, things that require fixing go much deeper than tweaking some values in a spreadsheet, even a “speedy” studio would require 3 months at minimum to fix most of the issues raised by community … and given FS history of update speed … press f to doubt
.
Remember game is supposed to be live service model and we dont even have properly rotating special conditions, not to mention new content maps, missions, conditions, enemies etc , only part of the game that has working ish rotation is that mtx shop … cute

Coding time will be used to fix the game and add the missing content, guessing actual new content is going to be heavily delayed
If theres no new content every ~3months is it even live service anymore ?

You are most likely correct, still I want to know what will be taken care of and in what order. I do not expect to have a 6 week roadmap for fixing the world
For example, some ppl hung up on single perk re-roll, I really do not care about that as long as I can have enough drops to have fun and experiment with weapons. From my point of view, mission selection and loot stinginess are top of the list for fixes/reworks.
Would be nice to know if these are at all in the cards for next quarter. If not it may be a better idea to go back to the game in 6-12 months and for now, invest my time elsewhere.

What? Can I not be critical of the game and not be ranting about it?

I was making a light hearted joke, I wasn’t trying to imply anything serious, although some people on these forums do go a bit far sometimes.
