You can shove your RNG where the sun doesn't shine

Seriously, I just want to play the game, make builds and have fun.

Instead, I get this BS RNG weapon generator that does nothing but give me ****.

Just spent 650,000 just buying 1 weapon type and got 3 roles over 360, all of which had damage between 30%-40%.

I just want to play the game and have fun and kill stuff.

in the last week I have had my Aunt and close friend passaway, I don’t need this *. 650,000 fing credit and nothing…

It’s great game and I love playing it, but the RNG just makes me rage.

You got enemies spawning out of thin air, spawning through walls, snipes can shoot through walls, doors and everything else under then sun, monstrosities attacking and grabbing through walls… Or the game crashes at least 5-6 times a session…

Then we get past all this BS, you spend 650,000 on buying fecking weapons so you can get one that can shoot straight and get nothing.

The world is s**t enough as it with games companies making life so god damn awful, when people want to play games to forget this clust-F of world around us.

If you really wanted to make a reason for people to get resources, then you should have had all weapons start the same, but players can gather resources to put into whatever stats they want, so they can craft their own custum weaopns to suit their play style.

Not to mention that blessings earned should be available to all weapons and characters. It’s just annoying and frustraighing fighting the RNG gods for blessing for every single bloody weapon type across all your characters.

It’s utterly stupid and pointless.

Can’t agree with this enough. The RNG-everything slot machine for gear is frustrating and defeating, and actively detracts from wanting to play this game. Normally this sort of thing is a core part of the engagement loop, but all this does is break it and generate frustration at the dev staff on a personal level.

The gear RNG acquisition and crafting is actively undercutting every effort Fatshark puts into this game. Some Manager there is really wanting to die on this hill, and nobody at Fatshark wants to talk about it, but literally every new mission, weapon, update, etc gets dragged through the mud because of it.

Everyone else at Fatshark should be furious about this, it’s a constant open festering sore that gets splattered across their forums, reddit, discord, twitch, etc whenever anything Darktide related gets mentioned. The magnificent work of the visual artists, the marketing specialists, the customer service people here, the core gameplay loop designers, the map builders, all see their efforts diminished for it. Whatever executive/manager/producer/etc is wedded to this idea should be personally and professionally embarrassed about it.

The poorly implemented gambling mechanic drags down sales, has kept me from spending additional money on MTX, has caused friends to stop playing (and thus, reduced my own playtime), etc.

They released the ‘open letter’ on January 24th, right?

Bets on the Crafting Memorial hitting 500 before then?

It goes against the design vision of Darktide guys. We need to trust the plan and embrace the retention. Let the reserves of grind currencies evaporating wash over you and leave you with renewed frustration.

You should buy some skins! That’ll make you feel better!

Loathe the system just as much, but here’s some unsolicited gambling advice from someone’s who’s spent way too much time on the game:

  1. Get:
  1. Go into the mod settings menu and set it to stop at 380, throw out everything below 360, and max out at 200 to 300 rolls.

  2. Save up to 1 to 2mil, this guarantees you will get maybe one or two 378/379s, maybe (ish) one 380, and at least ten to twenty rolls between 360 to 377. 3mil+ to guarantee one 380.

  3. Once you set it to roll and then throw out hundreds of weapons go and make yourself a sandwich, coffee, curl up in fetal position in a corner, or whatever. Or better yet touch some grass for 10 to 20min. Come back to sort through what’s left afterwards.

  4. Be a real man and realize that this is all effing dumb. Get over yourself and the game, and go play Elden Ring, VT2, Baldurs Gate, Armored Core 6, or finally get to that cool indie game in your steam library you keep putting off. Check in on the game in a year if you still care about it by then. Rinse and repeat until FS moves on to the next one, the game dies, or the system gets reworked, whichever comes first.

  5. If you’re like me, a barely functional wreck and can’t get over the game (hard stuff, dark design is magical like that). Keep playing once or twice a week, and join the rest of us in coping and seething at FS in the Crafting Memorial™ and cosmetics threads.

To the OP, I’m sorry about your family losses. That sucks and is never easy. My condolences.

To Brunt’s armory: sod off you kraker.

Seriously, Brunt is a trap. Unless one uses it to get something quick to experiment with, and seriously limit yourself to no more than 10 rolls, you should just ignore it entirely.

Use the shop checker browser plugin and just wait for good stuff to show up at the normal armory exchange. Seriously, every rotation usually has a decent base stat item or two. Use your money you would’ve wasted at Brunt’s to buy everything decent you see. You’ll be swimming in items and have plenty to work with when you want to pivot to a new weapon or build.

This is the first time SkipRat has posted — let’s welcome them to our community!

This game really brings it out of people.

Overlord is right, unfortunately, and it will probably take another year before they’ve added enough content to distract you from the games rough edges.

Unfortunately, if you’re have rough edges in your life this isn’t the best game to play because of the completely unnecessary frustration. It’s like a buggier version of mudrunner, a game that is literally about slogging from one location to another in Russia. The worst slog is actually the bugs and crashing in this particular patch, which hits my breakpoint for playing the game. I actually refused to play mudrunner during a season in which I was building a barn in the dead of winter and playing real life mudrunner.

When you think you have it rough, just remember that we can count on people saying the developers actually have it rough a few days after they get back from their two month mandatory vacation.

Hello, Skiprat. I am sincerely sorry for your losses. I know what it’s like to go through times like this, but as Gigs has already said, Darktide is simply not the right game for these times.

If I can give you one piece of advice, try Deep Rock Galactic. It really is a lot of fun. It’s joyful without being childish, it offers challenges without being frustrating, it allows you a lot of free customization, it has very varied missions, the RNG is kept to a minimum and the community is the most cheerful I ever met.

For me it’s the perfect game when I want some healthy fun: both when I want relaxation, and when I want challenge. And it’s really perfect for less happy times, to cheer you up.

Macharia’s recommendation of Deep Rock Galactic is pretty good.

I actually came back to recommend a few games for such times, especially that you can sort of disappear into for a long time. Nintendo sort of has a monopoly on the colorful, happy end of things, but for me, the Witcher 3 was that game. I’ll PM the TC with a few other ideas.

For me this means likely to move on away from Dumbrngtide for good. I love Darktide, I love fast paced unfair coop shooters.

I hate Fatsharks loot system “philosophy” powered by China TM.
