Without addressing the crafting system, introducing new weapons is just going to make people angry

#BreaktheLocks yet again.

At the very least it got me doing some normal quickplay Damnation instead of Auric for material grinds and I won’t lie the more relaxing change of pace is nice.

But yes crafting is very stinky and this is just going to highlight the issue even more.

Especially because the 3 weapon variants they previewed, being Revolver, Shovel, and Chaxe, all have pretty terrible blessing pools and at least on Revolver and Chaxe some strict stat, perk, and blessing combos that is going to make farming them HELL.

Do people not realize, more slots on the slot machine means the odds of getting anything you want are less?

no, FatShark just need this.

Yeah apart from maybe a new C-Axe none of the new marks really even peak my interests and I know for a fact it’s going to make using Malk’s or the weapons shop that little bit more obnoxious.

I do also have that worry from another thread that the new Marks are just going to effectively be almost straight upgrades on the old ones (shotguns being bad examples but the T-Hammer comes to mind) without fixing the old stuff.

I’m also really disappointed that we aren’t getting entirely new weapons with new mechanics or ones that fill interesting niches.

Wut? What does ā€œterrible poolā€ mean? The shovel has some of the best blessing choices in the game, so it can’t be individual quality.
I’m hoping the new ones have different combos that mesh well with different blessings, though.
I mean, new marks that can share existing weapon type blessings seem a lot more palatable with crafting issues than entirely new weapons that would need more grinding to unlock anything. :man_shrugging:

This crafting system is always going to be a pain in the ass as long as it stays in its current iteration.

Not only is it such a pain in the ass to experiment with new weapons, but every time there are major rebalancing patches you are put back in the hamster wheel of grind again.

Maybe one of your previous weapons became mediocre due to a blessing nerf, maybe you wanna test out a new blessing, maybe there is a new blessing combination that became viable but the blessing you want to replace is the one that is locked.

Well, guess you are gonna have to grind for materials and fresh weapon blanks to throw into the RNG fest that is the upgrade system.

I truly and honestly dont know why they still insist on having this absolute garbage system in place, its been a year now, most people still despise the upgrade system yet its still here despite FS insistence that they are going to address pain points.

Hell, they wont even give a definitive answer on the subject matter after all this time, just come out and confirm if the locks are staying or not instead of being so vague about it.

Someone in charge is absolutely, to the point of denial, convinced that letting people pick what they want will make them stop playing, and that the artificially gated grind is a requirement to keep them playing.

Meanwhile I am over in a corner just going ā€˜hu hu rock funni’ at Heresy difficulty, or smacking things with the Thunder Hammer, or pretending to be Mister Tactical with Vet, completely ignoring the system because it’ll never give me what I want.

New content doesn’t make me angry. Pretty happy to be receiving new, free things in a game I love.
I would like to see crafting get addressed soon though. Give more plasteel to folks and #breakthelocks.

I may not get angry - but I certainly don’t care as I have zero interest in playing the lottery again. Maybe I’ll stumple about 375+ versions of the new marks with good distribution in the next months or I won’t. If so I’ll ask Hadron to not brick them and if she actually doesn’t I might use them. Maybe it’ll take a year… I don’t really care. With deterministic crafting I could be excited for new marks - but not so.

If however they at any point they finally include a Hellgun or a Powersabre - something new that I would definitly want to use then I’ll be angry about the crafting again for sure. Because now my wish to use these weapons would make me play the lottery again and I hate the lottery.

Interacting with this system is rage inducing.

Terrible blessing pools refers to only having 2-3 actually good blessings with the rest being objectively worse that the better options. Basically it is a weapon that has another layer of RNG because you have a high chance of landing on a blessing you are going to have to swap, meaning you are going to have to use a lock.

Agreed. I think we should all head over to the gameplay feedback forms and each start a topic that is simply titled break the locks. I’m gonna go do that now.

New content I’ll never complain about, but this is going to highlight the issues of the system they have in place for people again.

more slots for the slot machine is all it is

each time more slots are added everyone’s odds go down, except the house who always wins apparently

New weapons marks are 0% interesting to me given how unpleasant and inconsistent it is to grind new weapons, and the fact that I’ve barely got solid examples of a handful of weapons for each class as is.

I’d much rather they finish addressing existing problems with their current set of weapons, and the Veteran talent tree, before bothering with new weapons. I’d much rather see more new missions and enemies than new weapons too while we’re at it.

Every single time I tell my friend group on discord about an upcoming update, they ask if there’s new weapons, and if crafting is fixed.

This time the answer was yes/no. They’re not that interested in the new weapon variations this time because every single one doesn’t like the crafting system - citing the locks as the main reason. Several have said what’s the point of new weapons if the crafting still sucks.

Please for the love of god Fatshark, throw us a bone about this before the Christmas break. I guarantee you none of my friends (or probably I as well) will be playing over the Christmas break if it stays this way.

Coming from ARPGs like POE and Diablo…it is WAY less time consuming to get a weapon I like in Darktide compared to those games

I’m not sure those are quite comprable, but i see your point.
