I’m approaching crafting by generally ignoring it. Turns out if you wait long enough with the stuff you have, it comes back in to meta eventually.
Turns out that knife and pistol build I had from Feb 23 is now back in meta.
As is my club and kickback.
And my surge staff.
Admittedly some things have come up in the shop since then that have helped with variety and I’ve caved to an OP choice (looking at you Columnus V). But generally I’ve played with more or less the same 7-8 weapons for almost six months.
STILL waiting on a good purgatus flamer.
STILL waiting on a good rapier.
STILL waiting on a specific knife blessing.
But, hey ho. I just spend my money now on re-rolling crappy Melk tasks, and picking up good looking blues from the store when I happen across them.

Just couldn’t agree more. Core game is super fun, one of the best in the industry, kudos to the team, but everything else is a joke, and particularly the crafting system.
I’m sleeping on 60k+ plasteels right now, not touching any of it till they fix their abysmally fracking ret*ded and anti-fun, anti-player big joke of a crafting system. I’ll play with what I have in the meantime.
Space Marines 2 is around the corner, better get it right before FS.

My condolences for your losses.
You are not alone in this, there are many of us that hate this current system and have been trying to elicit response from FS but they are ignoring this 800lb gorilla but now, at this point, it can no longer be ignored.
They have been losing players since after the October Patch 13 update because though the gameplay is good, eventually everyone runs into a situation where they don’t have the weapon or blessings to experiment with.

The terrible crafting system has been the most complained about aspect of this game, pretty much since release.
Pretty sure, there has not been a single week, where no new thread about this issue has popped up.
Not only that, but the crafting system in this game is also currently (and always has been) the polar opposite of what it was apparently supposed to be.
Let‘s hope that who ever is in charge of crafting, gets kicked to the curb, so that this game can finally be brought into a state that it deserves.

Any functional company would look at a persistently complained about issue and try to address it. Freaking Gaijin Entertainment, king of draining wallets, backed down when enough nerd rage came forth.
Fatshark has just stopped engaging here because every single thing a CM says is met with ‘okay, but are you going to fix crafting and stop being greedy with the MTX’, when what they should be doing is having the CM say ‘here’s what we plan to do to fix your problems’.

Remember when someone discovered (then shared) that there was a bug whereby once you’d crafted and switched to another character, something like 80% of your plasteel etc was returned? And the devs had gone on holiday for 2 weeks?
That was the “week that was”. All those grey,green,blues I had stockpiled all got made orange. Happy days!

Oh. Damn. Further memory. I remember more clearly now. Most ended up sh1t3 and I got very few new blessings from it. I estimate that for that same disappointment, I’d have had to invest 6 months of full 4-avatar melk farming to do equally as badly.

Just dumped another 350,000 into the RNG and got just 1 weapon over 360…
With 7 crashes to desktop since 22:00 17/01/24 to today 18/01/2024 at 16:00 (when I stopped playing), I decide to uninstall this game.
I want to be entertained and have fun, not treated like a cash cow mug and expected to hand money over fist to a games development company who are just making the experience for players frustrating and horrible… All in order to fund a Chinese company that pays taxes to a regime that persecutes its own people. illegally grabbing land from neighbouring countries, like the Spratley Islands and the clamp down of freedoms and human right of the people in Hong Kong.
Core amazing, everything else is taking p**s out of gamers, hope you happy Fatshark selling your soul to your Chinese overlords.

I will be honest, I think the RNG is actually weighted to give you worse weapons over time if you keep trying for one. I’ve noticed that attempting to get more than 3 of any given weapon type results in a wave of 320s but then when I switch I usually pull a 360+ from Brunt first try.

To this day I won’t forget dumping week of grind worth of mats to never get that one Blessing I needed. I understood then and there how people who work in shady jobs feel when they work for a month and then don’t get paycheck because they were scammed and can do nothing about it.
