Right there is the reason why things won’t change here. All throughout FatShark the attitude is “we know best so shut up.” Yet clearly they don’t know anything because we are literally right back to where the game hit the bottom if not somewhat worse off. Of course the “community” here hasn’t exactly helped. So many white knights, brown nosers, shills, etc who jump to defend the indefensible the moment someone dares to critise FatShark. Not only does it make it easy for the powers-that-be to avoid having to address the issues but said powers can point to those specific posts to say “see the silent majority agrees with us.”
Things won’t change at this studio until something truly drastic happens. Something like GW not renewing their license for the Warhammer IP.
If they continue on this road of short term greed, then all the money they could have gotten from me in the future will turn to zero forever, as I will bring my business elsewhere. I am consistent and never returned to companies who f*cked me over. Since I’ve cut out EA, Ubisoft and all the others like them, I didn’t spend a dime in support of these companies - they lost a customer in me forever.
Fatshark is on a perfect trajectory to join those companies that I won’t purchase a product from ever again.
You know who will get my money just like they did for all the DLCs they released since 2018? Ghost Ship Games with Deep Rock Galactic for their philosophy which elavates them above all devteams I know:

So I will wait for the next step of Fatshark, but that’s it. If they drop the ball again, I will leave just like most of the 107.000 players which was the peak number for this game. I wonder how many of their buggy Krieg sets they sold to those people for increased prices. honk honk
So just curious, you do know that other developers also have this history right? There are developers that made a lot of throwaway garbage or were stuck making movie tie-in games for various platforms. This is not news.
In this case, I doubt people would even know who FS were before they released Vermintide, which was where they put their name on the map, only making it bigger with the sequel. They found their success with the “tide” games that were attached to a big franchise and have stuck with this ever since, they did not go on to develop the same games as were in their history, they stuck with their niche. But mentioning that isn’t as appetizing for people who just go around whining about games they don’t even play anymore is it?
I’m peeved at the lack of content with DT as much as the next guy, but I highly doubt it’s abandoned as you people are making it out to be. I do wish they’d give some kind of announcement to alleviate concerns like this though. Silence is not always the best course of action.
Much like when I realized that launch DT wasn’t very fleshed out or fun, I am no longer having fun with the current content and have been playing other games. I recommend other people do the same if they’re feeling burned out rather than sitting on a forum screeching about it.

I mean nobody’s owed anything but I don’t recall any of those other developers issuing an apology over their game either. Besides Helldivers having server issues due to traffic. Having gotten that apology and a mission statement regarding their desire to bring the game up to our standards, I think people can expect slightly more than the bare minimum. Certainly more than what they got for the last year and change of the game where it was in a literal pre 1.0 state until the console launch anyway.
especially considering the vanguard cosmetics are not even exclusive to that window, like what tension was that supposed to defuse. one of my console friends wears them + has a stack of unspent aquilas from this debacle.
Ah but a number of those games were from studios who had a track record of at least making an honest attempt to fixing things. Just that can go quite a ways to garnering at least some patience. Plus some consider it a sort of “apology by actions”. Of course that requires that said studio have a positive balance in their “player trust account” to keep paying off the line of credit. Something usually done by making truly good faith efforts at fixing issues, accepting critism even when its painful and blunt, and of course being honest with the players even when it means having to tacitly admit to screwing up. Plus many of those studios have at least a few products that were long-term successes to their credit.
This… abomination has none of those. As cedric.d.schmidtke so nicely pointed out, they have a substantial history of doing the exact opposite in fact. Nor have they shown any inclination to change if the prolonged silence, fishing for excuses to close threads, etc are any indication. Then again I’m not surprised at this point. Its pretty clear that the studio is being kept alive by subcontracting and their Warhammer license with its well-entrenched and well-supplied fandom. However I would bet a pretty sum that many people at the studio won’t admit that and instead believe its their “work” (instead of the Warhammer name) that sells products.
All together it should make for a very… interesting time when the license comes up for renewal. I foresee many ObeseTuba members squirming in their seats when asked “so why should we renew your license to Warhammer when we have many companies better records lining up to offer us substantially more money for that same license?”
I mean, heck, look at HD2: the same engine as Darktide, but a vastly better company.
If the company running that game wants to make a 40k version, all they’d really have to do is swap the Helldivers for Space Marines, the bugs for Tyranids, the robots for Necrons, and promise additional factions to fight over time.
GW could do a lot worse than simply handing a license to them and telling them to have at it.
People talking out of their ass about this never gets old. No, GW is absolutely not picky about who uses their license. Go on your google playstore and enter warhammer. You find the lowest effort stuff. They hand it out like candy. They won’t “revoke it and give it to someone else” lol they give it to everyone in the first place.
even if they were picky, fatshark’s far and away the gold standard for warhammer games, there’s no end of under performing glorified boardgames they could get rid of to save face.
The Warhammer IP should be revoked from GW itself precisely for the reason you listed and how they keep dragging it through the mud time and time again. Imagine if the whole IP with all it’s rights went to Ghost Ship Games who could then employ all the fan animators that GW silenced over the years… Imagine how many Astartes level content we would have by now…
And speaking of absolutely corrupt corpo entities with zero touch to their player base, a brutally overpriced business model and a predatory sense of what they actually deliver to their customer (just to stay on topic), you can follow what happened there, if you haven’t already.
As to the general conversation - GW compartmentalized their IPs many years ago, then rebranded for a while, and this was before and right at the start of Age of Sigmar… Their IPs aren’t singular, which is to say - there’s no one Warhammer Fantasy IP. Every faction is it’s own IP. Which kinda helps in not being picky with their partners. The papers to acquire the damned compilation of IPs needed to make a singular game must be exceptional…
This thread went from demanding premium currency to promoting the idea of FS having their Warhammer IP rights revoked, and given to another developer that you are shilling for constantly, because you didn’t have your unreasonable demands given to you.

As stated, I am mad, frustratingly so. A person who is blatantly dishonest and manipulative is being supported while a person pointing out their poor behavior is being mocked and harassed.

There’s no “history” of me stalking him anywhere, this is another fabrication in his head. I was in the original Steam thread that was locked, and the Darktide forum thread here is directly linked in the new thread that OP copy/pasted. I never said the things he accused me of, as I proved (thanks for suppressing said proof)
