XBOX got 14.000 aquilas - Steam got nothing (Fatshark responded 23/01/2024)

as a PC player, you already bought the game, you aren’t the target demographic. this was a console only thing, where they wanted people to pay for the game itself while it was available on gamepass. the bonus got a lot of gamepass players to switch to a full copy of the game, which was the point.

There is a place where i can see those stats, cause from my experience there is barely people playing on console and those who play must be like 90% from gamepass soo i wound’t say that was a smart move.

If they really want people to buying this and future games they should listen a lot more their community, cause these unfair treatment too their biggest player base isn’t gona make fatshark games attractive to buy now or in the future.

PS: even after all the things that i disagree with fatshark
top management i still encourage people to buy this game or vermintide, because i really think even with all the downsides and problems that these games can have, i see a real passion and dedication from devs to create a great experience. Darktide has to be on my favorite top 3 games on my life, it’s an amazing game, and i don’t really want to see it die because of bad management and questionable decisions like this aquilas problem.

ah, stop being a crybaby. console players quit games in months regardless of how good they are, the sales dynamic there is getting as many people to buy copies as possible before your title is cycled out. if they buy the game, play it for two weeks and quit, that’s a success. and since they won’t be generally lingering much, the paid cosmetics shop is less likely to pay off than for PC players, who will be here next year and still want to have drip.

non US countries often pay less for a game, but that’s not because they’re getting a deal, it’s because they literally cannot afford it at the prices that are the norm in the US. it’s why steam restricts game sales by reigon.

Why u want to be toxic?, this just show your childish behavior.

This is exactly why this forum exist, to discuss and give feedback to devs or community, no matter if this work or not.

Thank you for your contributions tool2101.

You are on point, we can already see the playerbase decreasing unfortunately. I will never understand why the leadership of Fatshark is hell bent on killing this game and alienating their loyal players.

If they continue like this they may succeed in doing so. Helldivers 2 is around the corner with earnable premium cosmetics and no FOMO. Not to mention that Spacemarine 2 is coming as well this year. Those are serious competion right there, not to mention the plethora of other games.

Fatshark has a chance to do a homerun and earn a chunk of community goodwill by granting the deserved bonus aquilas to all players. They just have to finally heed our feedback. Or they can continue this way and do permanent damage to their brand - they are on a really good trajectory to do as much damage as possible, that’s for sure.

Let’s see what happens. Here’s hoping they finally heed our feedback…

Think about it like this

Someone playing on GamePass gives their 10 (15?) dollars to Microsoft. I don’t know what sort of revenue share exists for GamePass devs, but I think it’s fair to say that Fatshark will see very very little of that money - if I had to guess, I’m guessing it would be based on combined hours played for the game. However, if someone buys the game, Fatshark will see 40 /60 dollars, before platform fees.

The problem is… how do you encourage someone to pay 40/60 dollars for the game, when they can play it for 10 or 15 dollars as part of a service they are already paying for (or, alternatively, signed up to the service in order try out the game). For example, there’s only a handful of games I’ve purchased on GamePass (Darktide being one, which I purchased not long after the initial release in Nov '22) because… why would I pay full price for them unless I’m confident that I’m going to play them a lot?

One solution: incentives. Pay your 40 or 60 dollars, get a juicy bonus. If Microsoft agree to subside 50% (for example) of the potential losses, then Fatshark sells their game for 40/60 dollars with a bonus valued at approximately the same amount.

If that player never spends a cent on Aquilas after that, FS earns 40/60 dollars before platform fees as opposed to whatever they would earn from that player playing on GamePass. In the longer term, potential MTX future sales may be lost because that player would have spent money on Aquilas but didn’t need to, but that potential loss is mitigated by aforementioned subsidy.

Can I say with 100% certainty that this is how things are set up? No, but I don’t think it’s all that unrealistic - Microsoft aren’t exactly winning on either the PC or console front, but they certainly have a lot of money to throw at problems.

just a question if i may got te whole deal wrong, didnt the Steam players get the Moebius Cosmetics for compensation?

It was spoken of or interpreted that way but it was not Steam (or PC) exclusive. The Vanguard pack was available to anyone who logged into the game on a PC through their Steam or Xbox/Game Pass account (or whatever it is called) before the end of November (27th was it?). That is how XBox players got the pack, which some people were and still are not happy about; it is understandable as it was hardly an exclusive that made up for the XBox launch promotion. XBox players could get the Vanguard pack alongside the large number of Aquilas they got from launch.

I think it was probably an anniversary pack they were going to launch for everyone anyway, and it was quite possibly re-directed (or re-interpreted) as a response to the furore.

Anyone who played the game on PC (Steam/WinPC) before a certain time was eligible for the Vanguard bundle.

Because of Xbox Play Anywhere, all progress, items etc earned on WinPC are available on Xbox (and vice versa), so someone on Xbox could have installed the WinPC version of the game on their computer, logged in within the appropriate time window, and obtained the cosmetics for use on their Microsoft account (regardless of hardware platform).

If they wanted to keep it (mostly) exclusive to PC platform players, they would’ve had to set the deadline before Oct 3rd (or whatever the Xbox release date was), since that would establish that the player was playing the game on PC before the option of playing on Xbox existed.

It doesn’t bother me that the cosmetics were available to anyone – having ‘exclusive’ cosmetics means very, very little to me – but how FS framed it and how they executed it were completely contradictory.

*WinPC being MS Store/GamePass PC

Thank you everyone for your contribution to this thread. Very much appreciated!

Remember - without voicing our grievances together, there is no chance for positive change.

Here’s hoping Fatshark finally heeds our feedback and grants the deserved bonus aquilas to every player.

You know this campaign is worthless when the OP here has to bump his own threads by “thanking” people for believing his nonsense.

OP: Let people who are interested in this topic contribute to the conversation naturally, and see how long it truly lasts. The fact the Steam version of this post had nothing for 24 hours until you bumped your own thread says a lot.

Im just curious…if FS would have just heavily discounted the game or put it o sale for the Xbox release…would you be upset?

Nope! Not in the slightest.

this dude’s taking posts here over to the steam forums to start circlejerks. you can tell the mods here just leave everything to bots.

I still think the way they handled this was wrong.

And alot of people were pissed, but the storm came to a stop when there wasn’t any sign of FS providing a reasonable solution to this fiasco.
Just because the negative feedback came to a stop doesn’t mean that the problems are solved.

It’s not very realistic to think that they’ll just hand out 14k aquilas to everyone… And it wasn’t at the time. But I think after the numerous outrages about this topic FS should have atleast provided an apology or a statement to why it went the way it did and why they can’t/couldn’t give steam users the same bundles.

Just handing out some free (imo shitty) skins to everyone and calling it an exclusive for PC players & early adopters ain’t it lol

Nope. I wouldn’t be.
But they gave them more ingame currency than the game itself costs lol.

Not in the slightest. As I said earlier I am personally happy XBros could get the Vanguard Pack too, even if those skins are reskinned trash. Every player had the chance to get it so that’s good.

What the problem is that this is not the case with the bonus aquilas of which the price is indeed amounts to more than the game itself. Hence thread.

Great work providing another bump, recording more engagement, and notching another reply count for the thread there then, instead of just ignoring the topic and doing literally anything else :joy:

The shilling brigade is not sending their best and brightest. Never did. I don’t even have to do anything as they are exposing themselves over and over again.

So if they got the entire game for 20 dollars less than you paid for, you wouldn’t be mad? I’m talking absolutely all the levels, characters, enemies, etc.

They paid half the price as you for all that.

But they got like 50 dollars worth of cosmetics of their choosing that don’t affect the game at all, and you are made at that?

I feel like you should be mad at both
