I was dabbling away at some of those skins - money left on the table by Fatshark. No I’m not going to buy everything at once “next time”. Your FOMO model sucks.
Book? Book.
Thank the Emperor that it’s gone. The fourth page was so confusing and terrifying. It struck me with decision paralysis and I could not buy anything. I sat in my chair and stared at it for three weeks. Now that the fourth page is gone, I can once again buy the newest bundle, even if it’s just the same as another older bundle in the store, just renamed.
Yep I checked today to see if I might buy some stuff for my vet and all the skins were gone. I assumed they’d just go into the rotation but nope.
No warning either.
FS hate money
So true. Im finally free of the slightly wider array of choice it brought to the community. Now I can sleep at night not thinking about some of those cosmetics flashing before my eyes like tantalizing fireflys, sparking neurons in my brain and confusing me.
Thank the emprah we got the same old weekly re-coloured copies back. I can return to sanity, chain my madness once again, entomb my unfettered desire for slightly moderately decent cosmetic choices.
Iv yet to buy a cosmetic in Darktide.
The answer to your question is that it is simply too immeasurably complex for our (the playerbase) limited intellect to comprehend more than three pages.
We might get confused and scared!
Inb4 this is followed up with events not having Aquilas as a reward again
I sure hope not, this almost got me to spend aquilas… almost. I was so close!
I got the imperial edition a while back because it was, iirc, on a deal and gives cosmetics for all classes and some guns and because I like to show support.
So this 500 took me to 3k aquilas, which means I could potentially buy a full price set.
Now that the extra pages have gone Im unlikely to spend my current aquilas because Im worried due to FOMO that as soon as I do, the next rotation will bring something Id rather have had instead.
So unless they put aquilas in to some sort of regular rotation I will be frozen in place, unwilling to part with my current aquilas or any money because of the atrocious pricing system and lack of value for money.
£20 for two class cosmetic sets and maybe a couple extra single items is, imo,
Compared to Vermintide 2 where £20 nets you a set for each class and they often go on a deal down to £10 or £15 squid, Im absolutely discouraged from ever buying aquilas.
Even Anthems terrible FOMO shop had a predictable rotation and earnable premium currency. I grinded the smeg out of that all year to buy the Mass Effect skins that were on a yearly rotation coming in every November 7th for a week.
tl:dr: poo, wee and sick.
Yeah not enjoying any of these.
I still can’t believe they removed the 4th page with all the selections. I was literally going to get some but wanted to wait until I was paid this week.
Guess I will save my money for some judge Dredd pauldrons and doggy collars instead
Majority, if not all of the shop items are over priced antiquated recycled has-been’s.
I just wanted to get the eye replacement, thast was for all characters. Cost less than 500 aquilas. IIRC.
The entire page has gone, now I ahve nothing interesting to spend it on.
Clearly a nasty and cynical ploy, to hood wink players into spending real cash to get stuff that is more expensive, and removing the cheap cosmetics all together.
What’s worse is they only repeat stuff that has been here since October 2023. A bunch of revisions seen in the first few months of the game have never been seen again, while stuff like the stuff in Willard’s picture have been in the store like 4 times now. Not just the stuff that was bundled with weapon skins.
it is a real thing though, you can find quite a few actual studies done on it like this one from Columbia
When there were two dozen jams to choose from, 60% of customers stopped to get a sample and 3% of them purchased a jar. When there were six jams on display, only 40% of people stopped. But here’s the interesting part: 30% of them bought a jam.
People be weird.
I’d just like to add this:
I saw a veteran with a cool helmet I’d like to own for myself, but it’s not in rotation and I have NO idea when or even IF it will be back in rotation..
End result: I did not buy anything
