100% sure it means all at once.
I’ve been knocking people off every now and then into chasms and even still I dont get progress. I had a really good ult that knocked 8 badguys into a chasm once, and wouldn’t ya know my progress on the penance is at 8.
20 people is impossible. I don’t know a single person who has this. This is actually harder to complete than the one that has you solo a boss with brain burst.
I agree with make every shot count and another example is the one one were you have to not take hp damage from melee for an entire malice mission or higher but had no real issue with long bomb since you can see the path of the grenade and can thereby just aim the nade so it explodes above a group of enemies heads
The secondary objectives are fine you just got to explore a bit more have finished a few missions with them all but I can understand the frustration. And tbf in deep rock if you walk away solo you run the risk of getting grabbed by the cave leach for example. This game is more punishing for players that split up and that is necessarily not a bad thing
I totally agree that all class challenges should get reworked. They suck the fun out of this glorious game. Also they shouldn’t be tied with cosmetics this important because it’s like forcing the player to achieve them. This or stay with the prologue rags for the rest of the game.
Maybe challenges are made like this on purpose to force players to buy cosmetics with premium currency. If you want free cosmetics you have to complete “impossible” challenges. Otherwise go buy some. Nice one Fatty!
The more I play the more I think the challenges arent so bad, im currently missing 1 (2 if you count the play 7 mission types since as of this post its impossible) for Vet, I remember reading them and going “holy crap that seems impossible” then just thinking about it, leveling up, getting new perks and im like… oh, this is very doable.
I still think the finish a heresy or harder map with 100% accuracy and no ammo remaining is difficult. (its the one im missing) but, with a dedicated group of friends, it seems reasonably cheesable?
pick a boss level
melee till the end of map
mag dump into boss shield
finish map

I just got the Psyker achievement for knocking off 20 people a ledge in 2 seconds, and it would have been ENTIRELY impossible if my team of three other friends hadn’t cheesed the hell out of it. As of this post, I am one of 0.1% of players to get it. It’s pretty dumb.
Not that that approach wouldn’t probably work, but the fact that the most viable method of completing the penance is cheesing it says a lot about the design of these penances.
I genuinely feel like a lot of these are placeholders they had during development that they just forgot to swap out for less insane challenges. Like there’s just no way anyone would think up challenges like these and not question the sanity of doing some of this stuff, especially in a Coop game, one that requires a LOT more teamwork than the previous games did.
If that ends up not being the case, AND we get a wipe… Well, I feel sorry for the poor chums who have to suffer through these multiple times lol
A lot of Ogryn’s challenges are really easy: Stopping a Pogryn’s charge, killing a corruptor with your box of 'nades, knocking down huge swarms? Ridiculously easy compared to dumb stuff like Cliffhanger and Malleus Monstronum
I’m not sure what feedback the developers received during alpha testing within their in-house QA to facilitate these ludicrous challenges. A lot of them are just downright silly and, at worst, promote that bad spirit which the developers used as a justification to remove scoreboards. Locking skins or hats - something that a lot of people will care about - behind impossible challenges that a good chunk of players won’t be able to accomplish; is fundamentally terrible to the core of a cooperative game, and should be revised. In contrast, Vermintide 2’s challenges were mostly progression based. Beat x mission on x difficulty. Execute x enemies. Examples:
This is one of the things about many of darktides problems that were in the cbt and few that still remain; these are problems that other games have had, including games they’ve made and they… don’t copy the implementations to remove the problem.
I’m not even upset, I’m genuinely puzzled.
Like in what world is actively trying to explode promote good and healthy gameplay.
Also the fact a lot of people are going out their way to actively cheese doing them just proves how poorly done they are. A prime example of this is the sharpshooter one where you don’t get hit by a melee hit. People are ‘disconnecting’ and rejoining at the end of the mission to get it done.
I’d honestly prefer something ultra grindy and brain dead like kill 50,000 enemies over some of these ridiculous circus acts of challenges. I’ve got one mate I play with occasionally, so even with him I’ve always got at least 2 randoms, predominantly without mics. I refuse to beg strangers over the internet to play like snotlings for x amount of time for me to get slightly shinier pants.
I actually find it hilarious that the reward for a challenge that asks you to purposefully get downed in the middle of a enemy mob is called witches duty.
No, the witches duty would be to electrocute a mob surrounding a downed team mate. Or any other actually helpful thing to help your team get through the high difficulty mission.
They literally call us rejects. I’m almost positive Fatshark hates us(I hope not). Wouldn’t be too far off of a thought though, considering how ranged gameplay is and these challenges are.
